  2. Well. Not claiming we're the front. Our goal is to create realistic casino RP but we're still quite far behind compared to places like the Diamond Casino. There is a solution for you on that, read carefully about the commands and how serial numbers work. I think it will change gameplay, my reasoning I've said in former posts. Read carefully on my last post, I'm talking about people buying in with 500 grand and 30 grand sitting in the same table to play against one another. The script doesn't allow pot rakes which is how casinos normally make money so we've been taking an initial rake. If you don't like the percent or how we do business, well it's the closest we can do to achieve something of a pot rake and other casinos are doing the same. Not sure why this is being brought into this suggestion though. As I said earlier. The script does work and this suggestion is to help pivot us towards more realistic roleplay. And I do agree that this isn't a priority, I said that in my last post. But it will help roleplay, the reasons I've already mentioned. Can't really add anything of value so I think we should let the developers figure out if it's worth their time and effort at this point.
  3. Touching back on what I mentioned in the main post. The suggestion above won't alter much to the current system on this server. It simply adds a bit more roleplay to the beginning of any gambling session. But what really counts is this will create additional roleplay that could exist if the script wasn't so restrictive. Scamming and all other forms of illicit activity should be possible when it comes to gambling. I don't see why we need to OOCly prevent such activities from being possible to begin with. Casual play should be allowed and encouraged. I don't see why every game needs to involve cash associated with it. I can see plenty of people coming into my business and being content with just playing poker. At the end it always comes down to the players and businesses to enforce more realistic roleplay, no script will do this for us. For example, you can find poker tables with players sitting down in a table with $30,000 against players sitting down with $500,000 all the time. The former generally doesn't know the game that well, while the latter usually knows how to raise the pre-flops and eat up all the blinds by betting aggressive on low net worth players. This kind of unrealistic RP should really not be happening, but there is no rule that we can set to prevent it and it's really up to the establishments to encourage realistic gambling RP. I disagree that it adds up any tremendous amount of complexity, and any complexity added really just makes things more realistic. This suggestion will encourage roleplay, but I do agree that it shouldn't take precedence over the bugs with the current system. I did try to keep my suggestion for this system as simple as possible but I obviously cannot know how the developers have things setup in the backend so it's really up to them to figure out if the trade off is worth their time. And adding a tax on chip to cash exchange is just stupid IMO, not sure why that keeps getting brought up. Would be unrealistic for a legal business to operate this way.
  4. It wouldn't be very difficult, you can continue what you are doing just the way you are. You just have the host collect all the money via bank transfers, which is far more realistic than carrying around $300,000 in cash to play. After the games are over you can distribute the money out. Nothing in my suggestion said anything about taxing conversions from cash to chips and vice versa, so if you're trying to attack me you can leave it out of this suggestion please. The necessity to exchange cash for chips with a table host or even setup a credit based system for underground games just further adds to creating good roleplay. New players should not be able to walk into gambling roleplay simply by typing /jointable. That's one of the problems that I've illustrated by drawing a comparison with fishing script.
  5. Items to add: I've had a system in mind that I thought I would share, I obviously do not know how your backend is setup but hopefully you can find this recommendation helpful. I recommend creating a new object called 'Tray of casino chips' that can be bought at a 24/7. Each tray comes with a unique serial number. The reason for this is so that players cannot mix casino chips brought in from other games and use it on a table. For example, lets say I'm running a underground casino. I don't want someone to walk into a 24/7 and buy a tray and then use their own chips in my games when I'm exchanging the chips for money. Each serial should be short enough to easily read and validate by a player on the fly. Once you buy a 'Tray of casino chips' you need to equip it from your inventory to have access to the following commands: Commands to add: Commands: /casinochips create [AMOUNT] // Spawns a certain number of chips, perhaps each tray contains a certain number of chips. /casinochips inventory // Shows amount of possessed casino chips, should have serial number appended to each line. /casinochips give [PLAYER_ID] [SERIAL] [AMOUNT] // gives any player a certain number of casino chips by hand. /casinochips drop [SERIAL] [AMOUNT] // used to drop casino chips. For the blackjack/poker tables add the command /setserial, which gets set before /startgame is entered. Players joining a table must enter /jointable [AMOUNT]. If they do not have that amount of chips of that particular serial number set earlier, then they should not be able to enter that game. And the dealer should have chips in their inventory too, or else /startgame will not proceed. Just like any casino in Las Vegas, a casino in Los Santos should have their own unique casino chip. To keep things simple and to build on the idea that I've listed above, the way this could work is to set the serial to the business name and allow employees to exchange money for the business' chips. The employees enter a command that would pull money from their inventory and in return receive an equivalent amount of casino chips. The money gets deposited into a casino bank that coexists with the business bank. The way an interaction would work is a customer would hand the money teller the money. The employee then does that command to receive the chips and hands it to the customer.
  6. Short description: Interface the gambling scripts (blackjack/poker) to take in 'casino chips' instead of money. This object or script should be available to all players (through a 24/7 for example). Casino chips get exchanged by the gambling script and any arranged agreements of monetary value of the chips will have to be enforced and handled through in-character methods. At the end of the day it will be up to the individuals and businesses to promote roleplay, but I believe the script change I'm suggesting will aid towards better gambling roleplay. Detailed description: To preface, I'm making this suggestion in attempt to address the growing issue of lack of RP/subpar within the gambling community and with anyone participate in gambling roleplay. The goal of this suggestion is to find ways to improve gambling roleplay while discouraging RPG behavior on this server. I hope that with this suggestion we can move towards creating better roleplay around gambling. One of the main problems with any roleplay server is always the script and deciding how much control they're giving players in any given situation. Certain scripts often lead to bad roleplay but remain part of the game simply because it needs to exist to create opportunity for roleplay. An easy example is the fishing job. When you look at players operating these jobs you can find them doing so in two ends of a spectrum, on one end you could see someone spamming commands and moving about from location to location. While on the other end of the spectrum you could generally see a player adding roleplay value to their surroundings while doing their job. The two players have a different mindset, the former wants to make grind GTA:W money while the latter is focused on roleplaying an individual making a bit of money through fishing. Removing the script in this scenario would get rid of the players from the former scenario but there is no way for the server to compensate the players in the latter scenario. This requires for a script even though it does to a certain extent lead to bad roleplay. The gambling scripts as it stands allows players to play blackjack and poker games using GTA:W money on this server. The scripts enforce all aspects of the rules of the game along with the monetary exchanges which occur in each round. Similar to the fishing job, the script has to exist for gambling roleplay to exist. It would be absolutely unfeasible to play the game with any raw mechanics given by GTA V or GTA:W. It would also be very difficult and overall hinder roleplay to create some kind of deck of cards/table system on a text based server simply because the mechanical nature of dealing with a deck of cards would hurt any roleplay potential. The only way we can play these card games is through a script that facilitates the rules of the game. What I'm proposing is instead of having the GTA:W money interfacing with the gambling games, we create a new object/system that works around casino chips (which holds next to no value and can be easily obtained from a 24/7). If there is monetary value to the chips, it's up to the business/individuals hosting the games to enforce that. How would your suggestion improve the server? We can expect more roleplay to occur around casinos and players hosting their own underground casinos. Casinos will need to collect money and exchange it out for chips, which get used on the gambling floor. This opens up the door for potential scamming to occur by various parties involved in the casinos/underground casinos, hence creating more roleplay and IC interactions. The script as it is right now enforces all monetary exchanges and as a result no one is ever worried about where they're gambling or whom they're gambling with. Anyone can freely sit down on a table with $1 million without providing any roleplay around it simply because the script allows for that kind of behavior. Casual poker games which could involve no money can be made possible for people looking to just play poker/blackjack and improve on their skills. Poker tournaments will be much easier to setup since most poker tournaments operate through casino chips with the winner taking a certain percent of a pot. And the final point I want to make is it is just much more realistic to be roleplaying around casino chips then actual money. Having the script mirror that makes it much easier for casinos and and any individual trying to create an accurate portrayal of gambling in this server. Overall, the goal of this suggestion is to improve gambling roleplay. Touching back to the spectrum I've crafted for fishing roleplay, I believe that gambling roleplay on this server is unfortunately mostly on the lower end of that spectrum. Most players involved heavily in gambling generally do seem to be inexperienced roleplayers and unfortunately the script only enforces RPG behavior. My suggestion will not completely solve this problem and at the end it is up to the players/businesses to create any real change. But I do believe that this is a step in the right direction.
  7. Information Los Santos' premier gambling spot for strategy based card games. We pride ourselves for hosting competitive poker tournaments, blackjack tables and exclusive car raffles. We are hosting a type of tournament known as a sit-and-go poker tournament. This tournament will be split into two phases. During phase 1 we allow a single buy-in. You will be seated in a table with 4-10 individuals, in a room with atleast three tables. Once the phase starts we will be increasing the blinds every twenty minutes, which will result in players being knocked out. This phase will eventually end once every table has a single winner. There is a period of overtime that lasts for ten minutes and if there isn't a single winner by the end of it, the player with the most money will be considered the winner. For phase 2 we take all the winners from phase 1 and put them into a single table. The players will play for the entire pot. We will be increasing the blinds every twenty minutes and by the end of the hour we expect a single winner. There will be overtime just as phase one, except this time if no winner is set, each player walks out with what they have in their hand.
