  1. The distinctions don’t change the premise so no, they don’t matter. You go to the police, you risk getting CKed. Again, Nervous said that on the application as the reason why it was denied. Though it’s sort of metagame-y, it would definitely deter me from going to the police if I knew a character I worked hard on, dedicated hours to, and wanted to run businesses with could potentially be permanent erased if I go to the police and report a member of an illegal faction for doing something illegal. Because of this, I can see how people might get “stuck” when it comes to extortion.
  2. I hate to be the bearer of the obvious but Nervous literally said the CK was justified because his name appeared in the court documents on the thread, which is how they found out he snitched. Just because there isn’t an exact example of the situation you’re looking for doesn’t mean that there aren’t parallels and other situations that can be used to draw reasonable conclusions from. The point is, even if your affiliation with a faction is unsubstantial (which I would even argue extortion forces faction affiliation to a degree, but that’s not the focus), you can still be CKed for calling the police based on this character kill appeal application. Edit: This back and forth is cringe, just stay on topic. No one cares about the character that much. I’m only interested in the precedence and standard that the denied appeal sets and how that can be used and/or abused, not about whether a character was an asshole or not.
  3. I already linked this topic on this very thread. Illegals can CK you for snitching and can find out due to easily accessible court documents. The only retaliative opportunity you have is during the CK itself where, if you’re lucky, you’re not outnumbered 10 to 1 and can kill the would-be murderer beforehand.
  4. If you call the police in game, you can be character killed for it which I can't see as being particularly desirable for any roleplayer. Court transcripts are public IC and witness testimonies are easy to access by crime syndicates which, regardless of what crime you are reporting, can be a contributing factor to a CK (see https://forum.gta.world/en/index.php?/topic/27371-character-kill-appeal-sergey-arkhangelsky/). You call the police in game to report extortion and it leads to legal ramifications, you risk losing your character, your development, and, subsequently, your business. If you don't call the police, you're forced to either indulge in the criminal underworld to seek counter-protection or to pay up. It sort of fucks people who want to roleplay characters who are primarily legal or have a significantly legal focus. The responsibility is on everyone to encourage and facilitate a functional environment with many opportunities and avenues to take your roleplay, and extortion doesn't provide this like you seem to think it does. Your argument is flawed because you assume there are several practical and cooperative methods to address extortion when, in reality for IC business owners who aspire to be more legal than criminal (which is something we should want to see on the server given what would be the wild crime rate), it's not that easy. It's not practical for every business to be extorted, and I think that chain robbery rules should also apply to chain extortion.
  5. Bold for people to call this request "weird" when we're grown adults pretending to be gangsters online on a roleplay server. Anyhow I'd just stick with the Character Stories (https://forum.gta.world/en/index.php?/forum/99-character-stories/) section if you don't get many takers. The other day I found this one which I found particularly good, especially the most recent posts: https://forum.gta.world/en/index.php?/topic/22694-the-life-and-times-of-an-ex-stripper/&page=5
  6. Only thing I disagree with is removing the texting /ame for the reasons that have already been stated. Not only that but people don't usually roleplay sending text messages anyhow so I think the /ame makes up for it.
  7. I think comparing the Girls Gone Wild XXX television shows that come on at 1:00 a.m. to live lesbian threesome sex shows advertised state-wide is like comparing apples and frogs, and is not the most credible of arguments. The primary source of concern, judging by this topic, is not inherently the easily-accessible explicitness but rather the advertisements that promote it. I have zero issues with sexually provocative roleplay or anything that might fall under that umbrella term. I couldn't care less if people ERP or not. However, I agree that excessively sexual and easily-accessible sexual roleplay, especially if it is in abundance, compromise the server's integrity because the sex industry tends to lack creativity and makes us look like massive perverts. I think this should be handled on an in character note with legislation and advertising restrictions as opposed to with out of character rules. Reference the article I've included below to get an idea of how easy it would be to apply similar advertising standards to the server, especially since our legal system is far more simplified. Alternatively, you could protest/aim to specifically make sex shows illegal in character. There's also a variety of other avenues you can take in order to tackle this issue while simultaneously creating roleplay for everyone involved as opposed to hoping for admin intervention. https://adstandards.ca/code/the-code-online/ (The Canadian Code of Advertising Standards)
  8. I find it difficult to keep reading in some places as the on-and-off informal typing style distracts me from the actual content and the information being presented, but I like the thoroughness. Thanks.
  9. I agree that it should be mandatory to do this. It's a great way to introduce new players to the expectations and demands of a high-quality roleplay server by having them create attributes for their character in the tutorial/with a prompt after creating their character, and it gives players (new ones especially) encouragement to think realistically and, to some degree, in-depth about their character/who they want to portray. Not to mention I feel as though the /examine command is underrated and not used as often as it should be. Besides, it's not like it's asking for a lot. For lazier players or players who aren't interested in having a description for whatever reason, they can slap their weight/height in their /attributes and leave it at that.
  10. Short description: Ability to script-wise equip goods/items and a partnering command so you can see the items someone is wearing. Detailed description: I play a character that is always rocking expensive jewelry and items which I have bought script-wise. However, after buying these items they just sort of sit in your inventory and do nothing for you. On top of that, /attributes is quickly filled up with information and sometimes cannot facilitate all of the items or things of importance that your character might have/be wearing. Commands to add: /equipgoods # (or a similar variant) (# being the item number from your inventory) which adds an item to an equipped list. /viewgoods (or a similar variant) so you can see the items someone else is wearing which would show the results in chat (like the /examine command). /unequipgoods # (or a similar variant) to remove an item from the equipped list. Items to add: N/A. How would your suggestion improve the server?: I think a command or a similar alternative will not only add a bit more importance onto in-game script goods, but also give others the chance to view what items someone is wearing and potentially encourage other types of roleplay (e.g. robberies). Additional information: There might be an easier way of doing this but this is just the way I thought of. EDIT: It will also be beneficial because then people will actually have to work for the items they buy instead of just logging on and saying that they are rocking expensive jewelry in the attributes without the script items to show for it.
