  1. I think the only necessary thing to do is to remove the OOC ban on legalizing weed. All the details on how it will be handled should be part of the IC political discourse. It’ll give us a good year or two of political RP for all citizens until it’s done probably. Then we can move on to something different politically.
  2. Competition can only make for better product. GTAW has first mover advantage and also a community that's bigger and much more developed than the SAMP server in question ever was. The community and RP infrastructure in GTAW is the best as far as text based RP servers in GTA V go. At least for the English ones. It'll be interesting to see what ideas LSRP decides to implement that we haven't thought of or considered.
  3. No because that is against the rules. Being armed doesn’t mean you won’t RP fear. Having a gun is used for peace of mind and a deterrent. No one said they’ll defend themselves with a gun but any criminal that does their due diligence before robbing someone will know not to mess with people that may or may not be armed.
  4. IDK but I'm not playing on this server to be used as target for illegal chars. The least fun you can have in this server is to sit there with a gun pointed to your head being mugged and not being allowed to do anything about it for IC and OOC reasons. I understand that you can't always win, but at least when criminals lose they get a fun chase or at best a shoot out out of it. We just get sitting there and taking the shit. And trust me, I am someone that knows how to RP a losing position.
  5. With a little smooth talking I got out of a speeding ticket that one time. That doesn't make speeding legal. Hell, with a little smooth talking you could get out of murder on this server. I'm talking as a legal RPer that wants to play within the confines of the IC law. Some things just make it harder for us to play while still staying legal. Some things just ruin our RP experiences. So, if my "smooth talking" fails and I get arrested, I lose everything I've ever worked for in this server as someone that works in a gov't faction.
  6. Besides, this is already a moot point because PF licenses are easy to get. Let me reiterate. It's already easy to get a gun. It's hard to carry a gun LEGALLY. Those that are fighting for the right to carry a gun legally are less likely to use it for illegal purposes.
  7. Removing good cause doesn't mean not making it hard, as I wrote in a different comment. Good cause is too subjective of a requirement. Time played, admin record, character history, character RP quality history, criminal record, profession, etc. are all objective means of deciding whether someone can be responsible with a gun or not.
  8. The distinction is that most RP happens in Los Santos. If you're caught even transporting your gun from LS to the county while still in LS, you're liable to arrest. So, sure, technically you're right. Practically, those that RP mainly in LS cannot carry a gun without a CCW.
  9. Vigilantism is heavily illegal and should cause the removal and permanent banishment from getting a CCW to the user and their character regardless of namechanges, that we should agree on. This is at the very least an RPQM issue and a little further a DM issue. Now, punishing all the legal RPers and dooming them to an RP experience where they'll forever be at the mercy of criminals because of a few bad apples is a sure way to kill all the legal RP in your server. We already have rules and laws against vigilantism and DMing/low quality roleplay. Why add IC barriers OOCly? Now, my character got shot, got robbed at gunpoint multiple times, and got car jacked many times. Every single time he called 911. I wrote that in my CCW application and still got denied for good cause because I "couldn't prove that I was being targeted beyond a reasonable doubt". I've had a PF license for months and showed that I've never shot my gun in self defense and have never broken a single law. Why are characters that have established themselves as legal, have been victims of multiple crimes, and have years of experience RPing without a single dent in their admin records being denied CCWs? I think time played + admin record + character development, profession, and criminal history should carry more weight than good cause that can or cannot be fabricated.
  10. To anyone that says it's an IC issue, please provide the proper channels of communication with the state legislature. The "this is IC" argument fails when there are no senators, no representatives, no elections, and no legislature.
  11. Where's the optimism? I expect a slight uptick followed by a constant downward slope to 0. Just give 'em more things to do that don't involve us civilian RPers. Please?
  12. Oh absolutely. But if we introduce more of these activities… maybe I’ll only get mugged 3 times a week?
  13. I’d rather have this kind of illegal RP opportunities than getting mugged every other day. Keep creating RP where it’s fun for both the security company/victim and the criminals.
  14. It's legal in California, so I think it should really be up to the IC government to initiate a ballot proposition for California. I don't think this should be an OOC issue at all. I don't think they should be blocked from trying to legalize it OOCly. It's really not that complicated. And if you want to create an illegal route to obtain marijuana through dealers to avoid taxes etc. once it's made legal ICly, then you should do the same for alcohol and cigarettes - they also have a contraband market IRL just like weed.
  15. It's a restricted crime zone for sure but there is a gang nearby that claims the territory and they terrorize us down in the garage. And if we were going to start RPing the hotel, of course, the whole building should be a no crime zone.
  16. New message: In that case, I'll keep it.
  17. New message: Would you be able to do $170,000?
  18. Detailed Description Rockford Plaza currently is a dead location, with barely any shops opening. The problem is that it's a mall where visitors expect to be able to choose from a large array of different shops, however, it is very hard to coordinate all the small business owners to open at the same time. I suggest turning it into one large singular business. We've seen with the Diamond Casino that opening large scale businesses with many employees is possible in this server. By making Rockford Plaza a single business, once it's open, all the shops in it will be open at the same time (employed by the business and managed by middle managers) and RP can ensue. RP wise, the owner can be RPed as the owner of the mall, and the middle managers managing the shops can be RPed as the leasers. Relevant Commands/Items N/A How will it benefit the server? Will give us another center of RP in the server.
  19. 1968 Vapid Dominator Classic 4 seats - 2 doors - V8 engine - 1,230mi A true staple of classic Americana, the Vapid Dominator has turned boys into men all around the world. This big bore American V8 has made many dream, and those that went on to fulfill those dreams achieved great things; some walked on the moon, others invented the computer, and a few became republican presidential nominees. One thing's for sure, they all rewrote history. The question today is, what part of history will you rewrite? Our listing today is powered by a modified big block V8 engine made by Vapid's finest engineers, with 450 horsepower and a top speed of over 120 mph, few modern cars can outcompete this specific model. The esthetics have been kept as true to the original as possible, with factory headlights, body panels, and underbody parts. A tan interior puts into prominence the beauty of the large yet skinny genuine wood steering wheel. These cars were sold in both stick shift and automatic, however, staying true to what this car was meant for, the original owner opted for a manual transmission that drives this performance+ enhanced vehicle. The beautiful rear end in this model year has been in the Vapid design language ever since. With the words DOMINATOR plastered on the back, no one is going to confuse the fact that you're driving one of the most sought after vehicle in Los Santos. This vehicle, of course, comes with the finest in Security technology with tip top A-grade locks, alarms, and an anti theft tracking device. This vehicle is for sale, on AUTOAMERICAR exclusively, for the sum of: $185,000 To make an offer, please call or email: Senorise Boykin 8588 [email protected] ((forum dm)) Brought to you by AutoAmericar
  20. Absolutely, but the main crime that happens in parking garages in GTA W are robberies. The incentive for parking your car in a garage in real life is that it is protected. Protected from the elements, but also from prying eyes and especially from criminal acts. In GTA W, it seems that these garage interiors are almost safe havens for criminals. There is no way to restrict it to people living in the same building (feasible with key fobs irl), hiring guards, or installing cameras. It is by far safer to park in the streets, because at least then, the police patrols the streets and pedestrians call 911 when they see a break in. The point of an OOC rule is to rebalance things that can’t otherwise be worked on realistically ICly. I think it’s very hard to find a solution for parking garages ICly, as long as the access is not restricted for starters.
  21. Try to break into your local Hilton's parking garage and camp with a gun and a mask on and wait for someone to come get their cars to rob them. It is already unrealistic as it is. And trust me, it happens everyday.
  22. This would be insane. Especially golf. And it doesn't even have to be a complicated script. Stand in front of a ball, /chooseclub to choose any club (and therefore distance range) /swing, depending on the amount of practice you got (amount of times /swing was used), it either goes straight at the maximum range for that club or gets sliced/drawn to the side... or topped, or completely missed if your character is a beginner.
  23. Well, the one thing I have with it is that it’s meant to be a heavy roleplay server with an IC section, and in most threads you have no idea what to RP. “Selling my Sultan.” “50k.” “Ok call me 555-5555” just doesn’t seem like heavy RP anymore.
  24. For the last week or two, pretty much everyday, I have been ambushed by an armed robber or another when getting my car at the Integrity Hotel parking garage. Realistically, this garage would only be open for residents of the building and monitored by CCTV or security. However, on GTA W, it is a safe haven for thieves that know about it, that discharge guns in it without anyone hearing, and that takes their pick of any cars. Now, I don’t mind getting robbed from time to time, but when it’s almost a daily occurrence, it gets pretty annoying for us legal RPers. Given the fact that PD is very reluctant to provide CCWs and security companies don’t have the script support/residents of the building can’t unite to hire them for timezone reasons, us legal RPers have no recourse but to sit there and take it. On and on and on and on. Whether we’re there or our cars are just spawned there. In real life, as I said, a hotel parking lot is only accessible to residents, monitored, and patrolled. The script does not allow for that now and I have exhausted my IC options. I’ve talked to neighbors, I’ve placed notes on info markers, I’ve tried applying for a CCW, I’ve called the police numerous times, all to no avail. The only solution I found is to /vg my car as soon as I want it and /vp all my cars as soon as they’re parked. And that kind of breaks my immersion. thanks for reading EDIT: the area is currently a restricted crime zone, but some people are part of gangs that have permission to operate in the area. Others don’t care about restricted crime zones.
  25. I agree. I also think a gambling commission would be wonderful RP for both the casinos and the enforcement agents.
