yea add highway patrol and you'll see their leadership asking to have their own swat team etc.

if you can limit highway patrol to a small station with nothing but officers, air and a few k9s then sure. but it's pretty obvious the faction will start asking for more stuff lmfao.

Funnily enough most people I find are attracted to an SAHP based faction are the die hard traffic enforcers who if given the choice would rather focus on their core aspect that is traffic enforcement or hell, any other type of call that involves RP, over shooty shooty bang bang. (And I have seen them do so on numerous occasions, where the 5th shots fired call gets made, and everyone starts flying onto, they're the ones that go "No thanks", realize there's a boatload of people already going to it, and instead go to any of the other outstanding calls that provides way more roleplay than rolling the dice on wether or not something's going to get voided after wasting 15-30 minutes of your time chasing the shooter who ends up doing something monumentally dumb.)

Of those people that I know who share that same enthousiasm that have leadership experience, each and every one of those vehemently opposed any notion of a doorkickers team. Wanting to focus solely on vehicle-based policing. Pursuit specialists, commercial enforcement, auto theft, etc..

All area's of policing that are woefully understaffed or outright can't be given the proper level of attention due to other, more pressing concerns.

End of the day, whilst we're veering a bit off-topic.

Most of the issues that we're originally all chaffing our collective nuts at, CAN be solved ICLY by lawmakers. The only problem is that this issue is taken OOC by the admin team, be it LFM or IFM that have to rule on these things. And LFM and IFM typically tend to contain admins that are rather... passionate about representing. I mean this without disrespect, or a jab at anyone in particular. But this was another great example, where we had an IC reaction to this issue in particular in the form of very strict law changes, harsher penal codes pertaining to these that with time, would curb this problem to the point where it's a significant improvement over what we have now. But unfortunately, those passionate people feel that those very hard and strict penal code changes would be a detriment to the server and it's playerbase and demanded those be watered down. Which defeats the purpose entirely. So whilst there's already a bill being drafted to adress this issue, as usuall it'll lack the teeth necessary to make any meaningfull change.

Unfortunate.

From what I've read in the thread, players clearly think that the traffic law is under enforced/less strict than it should be.

Being a member of SD, I don't personally find much interest in pulling people over. Let's say from the 100 traffic law breakers I witness while on duty, I'll maybe pull over 5 or 10. Why? There are multiple reasons. There's the average criminal guy who's not affiliated to a faction that will just evade, fail to roleplay his crashes and get jailed for 3 days rather than a 5-10k ticket and be doing the same thing once they are out. There's also the OOC group that has already been mentioned here, who'd go "I was lagging, I miss clicked, I was using my phone" and it's just not fun to roleplay with them once they break the immersion with their out of character excuses. Lastly, if I go ahead and stop everyone for breaking traffic rules, it will just kill the fun for me to be honest. Maybe having speed radars handing out automatic tickets will help, maybe it won't. I'm not too sure what's the right approach, but the laws around it definitely need to be changed.

Speed radars who give out tickets would work, except they'll just screw the plates off (Which you can ingame)

Broke a new record last night, a buffalo STX going down rockford at a staggering 160 plus. Good luck lol.

I once caught someone drive 250 miles per hour along Great Ocean Highway, but that person was cheating so it doesn't count.

Isn't it time we bring an end to the monopoly lssd and lspd had over the tactical rp scene for generations and just let factions do whatever the fuck they please as long as its realistic and doesn't affect others?

No, for the same reason we don’t allow the 10th biker gang.
