    Realism vs Fun

Going back to the OP's point about fun and realism, this seems to be about an ingame event for a character that may radically change the direction one had originally planned for that character. I have lost motivation twice when I perceive the character life change has been highly influenced by another party introducing real world events to justify their actions. This happened in both legal and illegal role play. I don't find that fun,but others seem to class it as realistic ( I dont, for me it is ptw as you are introducing real world events that cannot be counteracted as a result of any IG action that anyone takes. ) So if the events are ingame, have continuity and follow the server rules then I'll accept the roll of the role-play dice, and that for me is fun.
  2. Really looking forward to seeing this develop, good luck guys!
  3. /examine is a great tool but much underused which is a shame as everyone has it forced set these days. Personally I always use it on strangers and think it helps with introductions as you can often find something to engage that person in conversation with. Also when working bars/clubs I use it to break up the extremely dull "show me your ID and give me 700 bucks" routine and for better interaction with customers. It's a simple, powerful tool that could and should be used more.
  4. I assure you I do understand ,but this is what you failed to understand in my comment. I try not to use vpark ever and I accept that it means people will try to steal the car and when it happens I have to rp the time dealing with it. It is a pain but I accept it The current system of buying a lockpick limits how many attempts can be made by any individual and having a probability of failure resulting in a broken lock provides a level of balance to the none car stealing parties. One of your suggestions is removing the lock pick and / or its cost, which I don't agree with as it will increases the level of theft on the server. Whether it is a pick, a screwdriver or whatevet there has to be a barrier to entry imo. For the modern car thief they actually need to invest in quite sophisticated technology. So just rp that you have bought a key reader or screwdriver. As for the mini game versus /me, I have no opinion P. S. The old system still required a pick for locked cars and they still broke
  5. Don't agree Leaving a car parked already means it is likely to have an attempted breaking when the owner is offline. making it easier just makes it pointless not using /vp when you log.
  6. Not in favour. I think it works well when considered as a supply chain system rather than just a driving job. I really don't see the value of unpicking that for the small percentage of characters that want the rp of owning a big truck. I don't like the grind approach that people /choose/ to play iiin this way and I don't like the quality of driving, but that is more about players being responsible than the system
  7. I'll open by saying my main char does live in Sandy. I think it is a sweeping generalisation to say every character in Blaine is a cookie version cutter of the next. It couldn't be further from the truth. It's a real mix of characters ust like any large area irl would produce. Some people do hate the city, others enjoy going to the city, some people do have strong accents, most don't. I've played all over the sever and one key reason for enjoying life in Blaine is the the sheer variety of characters that exist.
  8. I can't see how a system would work where some crimes are allowed by some people (the university members) , but not all people. I share the view that if it is poor rp then it is a report issue
  9. I do think the map blips should be free even if the ads aren't. I think more so as scripted business like 24/7 and liquor stores get an auto indicator that they are staffed. Even a message into the chat log saying Business X is open and Business X is closed would be good. It should be limited to 2 uses a day though
