Good day! SAAC is proudly and freely offering floatplane certifications to its members! This is not a license, but more like a cheap way to learn the rudiments of flying a floatplane, and gets you a nice certificate in the end. The course lasts about 1h to 1h30 and you'll first be taught the basics, then you'll fly with the instructor next to you. Finally, when the instructor confirms you are able to fly safely in a floatplane, you two will take two floatplanes and do a small group flight where you'll land at unique places. Would be a neat idea. Not "Forced" though. Just supported. So a controller would check both chat and audio. The only bad side of this, is if a player uses teamspeak, and the other pilot isn't on teamspeak. He'll never hear his comms! Perhaps could only be a thing when the tower is active. In other cases, you type ingame!

@TheCHcuky I will comment your list up there. You're right about the prices that have absolute non-sense and is inevitably a gamebreaker for aviation. Truth is no private pilot in real life (except millionaires) buy new aircrafts like Cessna's. I mean, a new cessna is like 400K, but I can get you a 152 for 30K$ and a 172 for 70K$ in real life lol, and that is a faiiiir price. You're totally right on that! This is a yes and no. It's been done on GTA SA / MTA, and even though people enjoyed the RP that happened inside, they missed seeing outside. Could be simply points that truckers can go refill their goods instead of running back to the LS Docks. But it'd be a bit RPG imo haha! Maybe could spice it up by requiring at least two crew members (a pilot and a handler)... That won't help in my opinion. I'm myself a flight instructor at Blaine and we have a shortage of instructors. Why? Because it is an intense 1h to 1h30 of roleplay that you must type and can't do anything else. So not many people are interested in it. In my business San Andreas Aero Club we're working on that! :) I disagree there. Nothing's more annoying than typing when you fly. So adding a new intermediate to deal with is kind of a blocker. Plus, emergencies dont really happen... or well. They're too rare. Never witnessed one 'in air'. Only on ground. I'm in the works with FT to implement a regional airline. I'll come up with details if that passes through. That'd be good RP for pilots, but also any citizen who enjoys flying :)

The San Andreas Aero Club (SAAC) was founded in June 2020 by pilots, for pilots. It is based in Grapeseed at the McKenzie Field airfield. With a constant increase in the aviation industry, and the increase of pilots, the founders noticed something was missing: the feeling of community among the pilots. The idea of this aero club was created, to bring people together and offer pilots also a chance to lease an aircraft at minimal cost, if they cannot afford an aircraft. Either it is fixed-wings pilots/students wishing to work in that field, but also citizens of the county and the city, wishing to fast-travel between the three airports : LSIA, Sandy Shores and Grapeseed. Due to that, we are merging the idea of the Aero Club together with San Andreas Airways, where a common corporation is created, which will have two branches. With the Miljet, offering a spacious 16 passenger seats, we will be able to host daily flights in the same method as a bus (commuting). The training is scheduled to start as soon as we have the confirmation that this is going forward. Our goal is not money-oriented - thus, even though we will charge individual tickets for flights, they will be very cheap in order to encourage people to use our service. Hi TheCHcuky, As a fellow aviation roleplay enthusiast, I am thrilled to see this suggestion coming up. I do believe aviation is increasing in popularity with multiple businesses that gravitate around it. I'm also in this field of RP since many, many years on GTA SA and we've had the opportunity to attempt many things. Here were the conclusions, back then: - Even though we had an active LSIA faction (school was there, and LSIA was the only permitted airport to "operate from" (you could fly elsewhere, but not have a business or park elsewhere)), there was simply not enough traffic to keep Controllers happy & motivated. - Every few months, a new person (like you!) showed his face around, super motivated, great ideas. He was given leadership of the controlling unit. After a few weeks, it simply died: a) lack of motivation, b) lack of traffic, etc. The rendering distance makes it impossible to properly see airport's ground (and even less around the tower in the air), thus making it 100% reliable on map blips. In SA, this was "kind of" fine as the map was like a HUD and you could style type while seeing it in full screen. On GTA V, that's a different story: the minimap can't be increased to properly see, and the "big" map is the escape menu which makes it unable to type. I'd also like to point out it works like shit for moving blips. Also, LSIA is very rarely used. No business is set up there except LS Aviation which is on idle. People go there to simply refuel when they're in LS. There are other fuel areas in the county. The time required to make all your script suggestions simply does not serve well, in my opinion, to the amount of traffic you'd actually get in the end. What -COULD- work out (and really, this is not up to me), is if you RPed as a terminal control zone all over the map. No ground control. No take-off/departure. More like ensuring spacing between aircrafts, etc. Most factions (Besides PD and Blaine) and players don't see /atc constantly, so they do not know if there is any other traffic in the air before entering their aircraft. You could solve that! + I'm sure PD would love to get rid of /atc vision, with the amount of traffic there is nowadays. Anyways! Best of luck.

We've attached a GoPro to a pilot's forehead today to demonstrate how fun it is to be part of the club! We did a three-aircrafts crew formation flight with some nice passes at Vespucci. This is the start of an air show / aerobatic team for members to be part of! 'Aero' is our call sign. Video ends with amazing passes by a pilot!

There's a flight school you can obtain your license from -> Blaine Aviation (check original post of this thread). Then you can surely find work pretty easily. :)

Good idea Tseard. Here's my suggestion. Remove 'ATC' vision for everyone. Make it bound to: When you are in an aircraft -or- In a faction that is obviously focused on aviation (like Blaine Aviation). Make a new item called a VHF Portable Radio where you can listen to /ATC, but not talk onto it. Voilà!

Hey Tseard. Sure, I can talk for how it's done in Canada but I won't go into details because that might be pointless here. You have control zones classified by a 'type' which means if it's either controlled, uncontrolled, vfr/ifr, etc. Each of these zones have different frequencies. When you are in "no" zone, which happens frequently when at under 4500ft, unless you're in a IFR flight, well everyone is on 126.7 MHz. Obviously that type of frequency is a low range, but you still hear people up over a lake "Hey, how was lunch Robert!". That annoys me too in real life. :) Controllers are never on the radio unless you're in a terminal (near airport) control zone, or in the tower's control zone. Or in a higher-altitude controlled zone... Kinda a huge thing to explain lol but you get the hang of it.

This thread is a follow-up on years old threads like: I decided to write this thread because I noticed many players are still lost in regards to aviation, but also motivated to join it - yet they don't know where to start. Aviation has always been quite a niche on most roleplay servers, from SA:MP to MTA to GTA V. It didn't interest many people, and businesses were not set up as they saw no potential in making money from flying to "Las Venturas" to "San Fierro" (hi, gta sa nerds!). The same arguments were here also on V. But things seem to change! Since a few months, aviation really picked up interest (both as a hobby, but also commercially)! So I thought I'd make a rundown on the current state of things. Aviation interests you but you have no single clue how to properly roleplay in this area, our buddy @Griz made an awesome thread a while ago.
