    VISA

Why not? lol If you're a US citizen then you do not need a visa, if you can't afford a visa, the only way you can get into the country is by illegal means lmao I don't think its that hard to understand what happens if you illegally enter a country. Lack of consequences... hmmm you mean the fact that you could get booted from the country, placed in jail for forging documents, losing what you might've achieved before being caught.. none of that being part of the consequences? No consequences at all when forging documents, especially in a country you might not even be allowed to be in.. no, none at all hahaha and you say there's no access to other cities or countries.. yet people RP being from other cities or countries. hmm.. curious..

    VISA

Short description: Adding in a Visa system, by which I mean the Visa required by those from other countries such as any EU country or Asia Detailed description: Adding in a Visa system which is very much so based around the same idea as the one's used by governments across the globe IRL. The United States governemnt uses such Visas therefor it only makes sense for it to be in SA. There are nonimigrant Visas which are temporary, usually valid for anywhere between 1 week to 3 months and allow the holder to enter the US for things like tourism, study or temporary work. Then there are immigrant Visas for foreign citizens who wish to permanently live and work in the US. Commands to add: Perhaps /grantvisa temp/perm for either GOV or LSPD or both, which allows the GOV or LSPD to grant a Visa to the person in need of one for either temporary term or permanent, depending on the situation. Items to add: A Visa card/document which stays in the inventory like a drivers license I believe could work nicely, should someone need to see it, such as the PD. How would your suggestion improve the server? There is a platora of ways that Visas can bring RP, from fake visas to visa theft and deporting of non-visa holders. Fake visas can be crafted up by an organization which delves in fraudulant documents and I'm sure our server can provide one as such, or perhaps can be done via the supplier program. These fake visas can then be purchased and used in places necessary such as during issues with the LSPD or while looking for work. Then there are visa thefts, this is usually done by criminal organizations which delve in slavery or production of illegal goods such as drugs or weapons. It does occur in many countries across the globe and forces the person whos visa has been stolen into either slavery (though this usually occurs with kidnapping) or forced labour in which they still get paid though only enough to pay for bare minimums such as insuficient food, leaving them in debt elsewhere. Finally, though only as far as my mind is able to think, deporting persons who are from a foreign country and do not hold a visa. Usually done through the means of GOV involvement and the aid of the PD. Additional information: I believe the first time people log in should grant them the ability to chose if their character hold a Visa or not, so as to give them a choice of RP'ing an illegal immigrant or not. The visas could probably be obtained through pd/gov forum application or by some sort of a means in-game, a bit like the DMV works for vehicle licenses. As such, of course all input on how to better this idea is welcome! I think Visas can really expand the reasoning for wishing to RP a foreign citizen living in the US, making things a little bit harder for those wishing to do so or dangerous, depending on situations. So all input is welcome on this idea! ?
  3. Yes, definitely. Kinda tired of seeing ridiculous cars being added. We definitely need more mid to low-class cars added in the server, with reasonable pricing behind them too..
  4. I've been told that Nervous himself has said that Los Santos and its island is to be role-played as a separate state so idk why it's being compared to LA aside from visual resemblance. Even so, I wouldn't mind seeing this as a disaster event type of thing done maybe once or twice a year, not quite sure how it'd be pulled off but I'm interested.
  5. How does it punish people? They are free to RP within the implemented jail, are they not? Their own choices is what punishes them here, not the suggestion. If people don't want to sit in jail for a 1-2-3-4-whatever weeks, then don't commit crimes in broad daylight where you'll obviously be caught, examples being pretending the server is 2005 Need For Speed: Most Wanted and speeding/drifting in the heart of the city, or going into a heavily populated area to rob someone who's just walked out of their house or something. That's common sense and would take a special person to not realise they'd get caught.
  6. Tell them to keep spectating every single person and watch them then, they wont. This can be an alternative.
  7. Yes, it creates RP for both sides but ruins it for the ones in the middle after having to RP a human who has to keep witnessing dead bodies every 20 miles or be hit by a car after just stepping out of their house because someone thought it's just fun to dorifto kaido in the city. The only reason why it would have an opposite effect is because of an inefficient/ineffective department or because of a lack of common sense or fear in the character portrayed as a criminal.
  8. And they continue... Where did the ooc bit come from though? If you mean the times being adjusted by OOC influence then where did the sense go for the servers government when they made the penal code in the first place? If I wanted to say it will have a *^*magical effect*^* I would have, have I? No, this is obviously going to be over a period of time. I'm not sassy with you because you don't agree with me but w/e on that bit, it's nothing to do with the post is it? Illegal role-play has been supported for a long time, there have been plenty of additions brought into the server over the servers history, now the focus seems to have turned to legal factions again, primarily PD. Where in this have I said that the server is to be strictly legal RP? Nowhere. Have I said it should be strictly legal? No. Have I tried to make a suggestion that would bring more 'realism'? Yes. Have I made a suggestion to try and implement more fear to people who commit crimes willy nilly in broad daylight in the middle of a city? Yes. Have I said it will have an instant effect? No. Have I attacked your role-play? Yes, because of the silly comments, I replied with silly answers. Grow up and go argue else where.
  9. i have explained it in the post, if you have no serious remarks to say about it then move on.
  10. weeds out people who do it for the laugh, like you for example
  11. no i expect the server to make it more of a trouble for them so that when they do get caught, they can either ck or take the L and spend a lovely long time in jail, tbh I'd expect the staff team to have had a say in this a long time ago
  12. so you shoot cops because they pulled you over for running a light for example, okay good rp
  13. thats not possible, the online community these days are 90% trolls and do things for a laugh, that includes running from pd ect ect on roleplay servers
  14. if u gun cops down for pulling you over, then u dont know how to rp accordingly
  15. So to be plainly blunt - Crime rates in Los Santos topple any crime rate statistics in any city world wide at this point, or so it feels like. This makes me wonder of how to actually rp fear in the first place if my character has chosen to live here seeing that within 10 minutes there have been at least 2 fights, some shooting, a pursuit or two, robberies left right and center.. basically this is just starting to feel a bit like cops and robbers with role-play elements. It genuinely feels like that for every 10 characters, 7 of them are involved in crime, a criminal or wouldn't care about committing a crime. Making those few that don't involve themselves with such things like myself, a bit confused - If 'fear' is to be role-played, realistically nobody would want to live in Los Santos due to the crime rates, unless he/she is a criminal or wants to spend their life committing crimes and running from police. To try and make it realistic I think we should up the jail sentences more, a lot more, which would impose a serious thought to those who plan on creating 'criminal character Nr.20391238907' for the billionth time and continue to feed the cops and robbers feeling into the server. Here's some examples from the most common crimes of what I'd have in mind. 114. Resisting Arrest: 7 Days. 118. Assault & Battery on a Government Worker: 2 Weeks. 119. Evading a Peace Officer: 4 Weeks. 201. Assault: 7 Days. 202. Assault with a Deadly Weapon: 6 Weeks. 203. Attempted Murder: 8 Weeks. 208. First Degree Murder: 12 Weeks. 210. Aggravated Battery: 3 Weeks. 217. Robbery: 2 Weeks. 218. Armed Robbery: 4 Weeks. 305. Grand Theft Auto: 4 Weeks. 407. Reckless Driving: 7 Days. I'm sure there will be people who will say 'oh but that just takes the fun out of it' - yes, it will, it will make it exciting to not be caught and you'll really have to think about if your actions are worth the risk of spending such long time in jail, it will have a genuine stake in it because I know for a fact that people don't want to spend long times in jail or prison or whatever and will likely opt to CK their character just to not have to (your own choices btw) - but how often do you commit a crime irl such as say.. murder and just waltz away like nothing happened? I'd assume never. I don't hear about people stepping out from prisons or jails after a few days after having run from police IRL, why should it be any more different here? Aren't we trying to be promoting realism? This is half a rant yes, though it's a good one haha
  16. that's not really great though if you're trying to post a specific mod or find one. You'd have to go through 1000 pages eventually when modding properly kicks off on rage.
  17. +1 from me. I would say putting in a Modding Section under 'Off Topic' would be better than having random mod topics scattered through the forums, like they are in the guides section and elsewhere.
  18. tbh I've been lucky on my current character without any conflict ever since I made it. Primarily the whole DM situations rise from people who go 'i god big daddy d, im the boss of this server, i can just kill him/her, no feks given, he said im a prick while i have a gun so ill show him' - the whole notion of bringing out a gun at people over a minor thing is just dumb, it's what I would call 'overconfidence to the point of stupidity'. I mean, my character has had arguments with people, over social media and in person, some of them have been related to crime organisations, some have been just plain fellow civilians and its never gone past that. Some of these people who start these random killings are usually those who think 'I'm in a car i stole running from 4-5 police cars, if I stop i should be able to gun them down because i have a pistol too.' then just get decimated and use it as an excuse to avoid jail/prison, seen plenty of that while I was in PD. Onto murders being committed by your character: While in PD, I had never ever EVER, seen someone RP any sort of trauma that comes from killing someone. They just went 'yeah lets get the coroners, units can clear' and after that there was nothing else RP'd related to it. The same problem goes out to gangs, crime organisations, civilians, they just run off like 'haha he ded' and more often than not those murders have been done in public places where there are lots of other people. People just don't realise that pointing a loaded gun ready to shoot at someone IRL alone drives fear and worry into your own mind, regardless of who you are. The last time a character of mine killed someone was while it was in PD and that was my first kill on GTA;W, which was done out of panic when the suspect she was chasing after pulled a gun and started shooting, the repercussions the character had were severe to the point where her trauma put her off public duty for two weeks, with additional ban from patrol, then ban from solo patrols, until she had shown full recovery which took nearly a month and even still after that the character had difficulties operating a gun. When people start realising that we're trying to portray a realistic environment, PK's can be turned into CK's.. BUT.. at the moment I just see it as an excuse for morons to go on a CK frenzy.
  19. It's rage, in general. I too have strongly decreased FPS in gta;w. Five:M had kept my FPS stable, very close to what I get on SP. SP has obviously the best results. To sum it up for you.. No, it's not your drivers, it's the client. Sure, there has been something said by Nvidia themselves that the game crashes occasionally with their update, but that itself tells you what happens and what doesn't. The issue they pointed out was that the game crashes, not that you lose FPS and I've only had one crash which was actually on GTA;W which has me blaming the scripts having given me some sort of an error instead of the drivers to be honest. If you tried a Five:M server, you would see that your FPS is likely very stable, close to what you'd expect and that's because their client is much more stable and refined. Yes, the other issue is that the FPS does indeed go down the more people are on the server, they don't even need to be rendered for it to cause an issue, your graphics card still has to prepare itself to render each character and vehicle which can hog resources on top of the already hogged resources for the client game itself - if you haven't noticed, the quality of everything is lower on rage servers, compared to single player (this is in fact why some servers don't allow high number playerbases). TLDR; It's the client..
  20. this isn't possible unless you really can figure out which audio files stream those ambient sounds
  21. this one I can answer easily - the quality of roleplay done by a player is defined by their capability of making the character realistic. For example, being unrealistic is something like having a lacking backstory with lack of explanation behind having so much assets at a young age - 18-28. Creating a character to buy a fancy car and be a rich young person is easy sure, but it's not really considered to be quality role-play without first showing a decent effort put into it's backstory or in it's build up. Another example is 'I became rich by mining.' sure, it pays but it's hardly qualitative or realistic. A realistic and qualitative way of RP'ing would include your characters backstory, the characters flaws like good and bad traits which should be developed either through actual RP or through a decent backstory that has valid reasoning for it.. for GTA:World a big thing would be how the character has come by so many assets if that's the case and so on. Quality roleplay = realistic thinking, common sense, rule abiding and sadly but honestly true, general understanding and capability to type in the servers chosen language. Short /me's can often be just as good as long /me's. They don't make any such difference. Detail looks great but I could just as well make an RP using a toilet out of a /me followed by 4 /do extensions look worse than a few short /me's. It's generally a preference really. I personally mix and match depending on the events going on in my characters presence. It's a really great question tbh, hope my answer was good for you!
  22. @StoneFire that's a superb comment tbh, though sticking into what you've said about "This is not earth; world but gta;world"- this is something that boggles my mind a bit. People who wish for sticking to lore friendly stuff can be easily understood for their reasoning but at the same time - if this was just 'gta;world' there would be a severe lack in content, by content I mean products & goods since the gta universe does not have any factories to support it's infrastructure, I know there is electricity, fuel, a few foods factories in Los Santos as well as a water supply, but there isn't a single location which manufactures things like vehicles, weapons, aircraft, most of the food and alcohol (there is 1 distillery) - so what troubles me is where does it all come from. Los Santos has a huge port, which presumably is used for import and export of most of the goods - wouldn't that mean that it's more like 'Earth; World' after all? Then comes the question about peoples origins, the gta;universe has America included but hardly any other country is really ever mentioned, usually for car adverts in gta you can see that it doesn't specifically name countries, it just goes by the likes of 'eastern europian' which makes it that the universe that gta is set in knows there is Europe and again -- if it's a GTA;World not Earth:World, wouldn't it mean that San Fierro, Liberty City, Vice City, Las Venturas.. ect, all exist? I personally slightly cringe at it nowadays since those places aren't accessible like they would have been in say GTA San Andreas but the argument on that still kind of stands. Just a few notes to clear it up: With what I've said I don't mean that lore cars should be replaced with IRL brands, I'm against that personally. I just believe it would be nice to bring other brands in through the use of mods just like the other lore things have been, I see no difficulty in that seeing as Los Santos has a giant port for import and export of products. Not essential but.. you know. Neither do I see an issue with having had both Ford and Vapid, Chevrolet and Cheval ect.. I'd rather see more clothes though tbh haha
  23. wew someone got ticked off.. i care about it because this is a general discussion topic regarding the entire servers lore and branding, its a discussion, im curious, is that a good answer for u mr grump? you could say BMW but it would never be a BMW on paper, not until the devs decide to finally bring in the rest of the worlds vehicle market in by adding real car mods, just like they've done with the Kawaii which is literally a Mazda MX5 (Miata) and even has the last generation Mazda badge on it with the only difference being the name. It makes me cringe sure but it's not like I'm completely against it is it? I'm just curious on ppls opinions.
  24. exactly.. hence why I've always RP'd that my characters Shitzu Hakuchou is just an off-brand (due to state import regulations or something as such) of the Suzuki Hayabusa it owned while living on U.S. mainland and thus I just call it the Hakuchou, I rp eCola mostly as just.. cola, sprunks are usually sprites for me ect. ppl just argue about all this more and more often, either as a joke or actually being serious so I thought this could be a good way to try and make sense of it for everyone
  25. Hi, I thought this general discussion would be a very useful thing for everyone, both players and staff to come to a conclusion on a rather odd thing. So I've come across issues where people are arguing about how to RP lore based brands versus real life brands. The issue mainly stems off items and vehicles that should exist but can't due to limitations on the objects actual existence within the game, given this is an island state part of America, a place in the real world and the only reason why such problems rise is because of Rockstar not being able/not wanting to pay all the monetary fees or whatever else they are called for all the real life brands such as CocaCola/Sprite. I have seen people RP'ing cars with real life brands which personally makes me cringe a little, I understand the wish for it, I have seen it happen in other servers on SA-MP very very often and I understand the sensibility behind it but that wouldn't be the right way to go around it. There's always an argument going on behind remaining lore friendly and.. well quite frankly bringing in the rest of the world along with it's brands but lets get into the logic of it -- Say you go to a bar for example, you order your favourite drink, which will it be? It's likely going to be Budweiser, Corona, Heineken, Guinness, Bacardi, Jack Daniels, Old Crow ect.. and then you have the lore friendly people looking at you like 'That doesn't exist! That's not the way to RP!' No actually, think of it - if you removed every single piece of real life brands for consumables, you might as well start calling apples as bananas because everyone will only ever drink eCola, Sprunk or Logger. You've cut off the rest of the Earth meaning that the only consumable products available are those made in San Andreas but -- what does your character eat or drink when it goes on say a holiday? Or perhaps goes for a visit home to another state if they're not a local? Or what if your character gets sick, does the character only ever consume Deludamol to get better? Next comes the issue with vehicles - most of the cars you see in the game always have a strong resemblance to it's real life counterpart. All Obeys look like Audis, Ubermachs are based on BMW's, Benefactor is the games idea of Mercedess, Vapid look like Fords, Shitzu's being Suzukis and so on.. So why do we have this big issue with people arguing about branding their cars through RP as something else? Well, those who oppose it are mostly correct. Owning a vehicle that resembles something like a Ford Crown-Victoria does not mean that you should RP it as one. There's a sensible way to go around the issue. I personally (seeing as there is no real baseline to follow) RP all vehicles in the state being off-brands/retailed vehicles much like Lexus does in America with Toyota with a bunch of Toyota vehicles (Toyota Soarrer & Lexus SC 300 is an example) or the Opels and even some Pontiacs being relabelled as Vauxhall's in different countries despite being pretty much the same car with slightly different tuning. Rp'ing cars like the Vapids being Fords is sensible to an extent. Just RP them as an off-brand/retailed/re-branded vehicle in San Andreas due to odd regulations of sorts. I'm super curious about what other people think about this stuff and where the balance in all this really sits.
