Add a phone number when reporting your car stolen/found

Recommended Posts

Detailed Description

Whenever someoen reports a car stolen, it gives their name, the vehicle and the plate of the vehicle. However, no number is visible. Someone can murder 3 cops, then report their car stolen and never be caught if they use a burner phone. It is absurd that people can abuse such an outdated command. The DMV would pass the number to the authorities in such extreme cases. As it stands right now, people can abuse the /reportstolen command even when in the middle of a high speed pursuit without any repercussions. There is 0 tools for LEOs to investigate such obvious evidence when in reality the number should be known to them so they can take utilize things like a possible trace on the used number. Even when you try to /report it, and ask an admin to help you find out the number? You get told off. It makes 0 sense to me.

How will it benefit the server?

Stops people from abusing a command without having to worry about any repercussions. Improves RP quality and makes legal/illegal RP more thrilling. As it stands right now, it's a one way ticket for unrealistic use. Acting like we are some fivem server, where you report your car as stolen while driving down 130 on the highway, fleeing from cops.

people just shouldn't be allowed to report their cars stolen mid pursuit. scummy abuse of mechanics imo; should be punished if they do it.

If they choose to report their cars stolen over the *phone* their *phone number* should be logged. Even if it's a PAYG. You're still using that phone to report your car stolen. There shouldn't be a way to get out of this & continue abusing it, as it shouldn't be happening in the first place.

I'd argue that reporting a car stolen mid purr-suit or after doing a triple murder (or 3 minutes before it) does nothing but raise suspicion on your character because it's very specific that the car JUST happens to be out of your control at that time.

There's a reason that /reportstolen isn't logged and resets every time the server reboots (Unless they changed either of these things), this is not a command that could very well be used as evidence in court. It's just something that gives cops probable cause to pull a traffic stop on that car at that moment in order to find out if the driver is actually someone who stole that car (Or if the dude found his own car back by then).

/reportstolen should barely be a problematic command when it comes to evidence gathering simply because of how easy and accessible it is to use. You still have reasonable suspicion (100%) or even probable cause (possibly) to investigate that individual simply because a car with their plates was seen on site. It'd be up to them to otherwise provide an alibi that explains why they 100% weren't near whatever crime the person in their car committed.
