Greyfeather
LSSD Prevents Escape During Inmate Work Detail Nayeli Greyfeather Lieutenant Joseph Cline, Operations Lieutenant for Paleto Bay Station On Thursday evening, Los Santos County prisoners were accompanied by LSSD to Mirror Park to conduct a work detail within the Los Santos community. The on-scene commander, Lieutenant Joseph Cline explained, "What we're doing today is an inmate work detail. That's where we bring inmates out of their custody facility in order to bring them out and do work for the community. It's got many advantages. It builds character, helps out the community, and gives them something productive to do while incarcerated." "They are compensated, though. They're given credit to their commissary account. They can use that to buy extra snacks and all that." "Prisoners do not get automatic time off their sentence for participating, which is entirely voluntary. However, participation can be considered in later sentencing hearings...We also further select it by taking inmates with non-violent offenses ahead. The work they do is purely for the city government (not for private companies)." Volunteers were broken into two groups; pickers (garbage collection), and those carrying out mowing and maintenance on the sports field. Inmates were bussed to the location "All our deputies on the detail are armed and we have over-watch. We also have increased patrol saturation in the area...We have a canine unit here. It's a deterrent and a tool at the same time. These guys are less likely to run if they see a dog." Soon the security provided in the area was tested when one inmate attempted to flee the scene. Deputies, including the canine unit, acted rapidly to the detain the attempted escapee. The escapee is subdued The man was quickly arrested and returned to the transport bus. One deputy was heard to tell the prisoner that he would have been better off running, instead of trying to ride off on a lawn-mower. VISIT OUR WEBSITE - CLICK HERE 3 1 Link to comment
