  3. Fire Department's New Wheels MATHIAS VIRAMONTES The Utility Trucks at Station 2 in Rockford Hills On the 14th of October, Los Santos News Network was invited for a tour around the new fleet of the Los Santos Fire Department. The journey started up in Rockford Hills, at the main headquarters; Station Two. Straight away we were already treated by the sight of the new utility vehicles lined up at the parking. Swift Water Rescue unit along with the Brush unit Engine and the Rescue Ambulance / Battalion Chief's vehicle Next on our list of destinations was Station One. The station located in Paleto Bay which recently opened up and is the main base for the volunteers of the department. At their parking lot we saw the rescue ambulance and the vehicle referred to as the engine which are stationed at every station. The special deployment units were to be found at the back of the rather small headquarters. They were lined up, the Swift Water Rescue unit along with the Brush unit gleamed. The purpose of the latter was explained by Chief Randy Sikes himself: "We have a lot of forest and countryside out here, so we have Brush unit. They respond to all wildland fires and grass fires.". Interior of Station 1 in Paleto Bay The tour continued in the country side of Los Santos as Sandy Shores was visited; Station Four. This station is officially the smallest station of the department but were obviously not forgotten seeing the photographs of the vehicles based there. Brush unit at Station 4 in Sandy Shores Rescue Ambulance & Engine / Utility vehicle Interior of the smallest station of the Fire Department Following this was Station Three, which was located in Davis. Being the main station of the USAR division it was the most crowded one. What this division is about was explained to us by Chief Sikes: "Urban Search and Rescue deal with the more tricky operations. It's a small group of firefighters, but volunteers have the opportunity to join if they'd like. They get to do a lot of cool things.". Chief R. Sikes along with several fire fighters USAR Truck along with the Rescue Engine At the station itself the new fleet was looking amazing in the setting sun. Almost all type of vehicles available to the department were present at this base. The photographs which LSNN were able to make of them speak volumes. Swift Water Rescue unit and the back of the HazMat truck HazMat Truck / Rescue Ambulance The rear of the Rescue Ambulance The trip ended at the Los Santos International Airport. Asking about the different color of these vehicles compared to the others the chief commented: "Pilots and the control tower need to be able to see our vehicles well.". We know the LSFD will put these new vehicles to good use! 6. Brawl in the yard at La Vida MATHIAS VIRAMONTES In the late evening of September 25th, a commotion arose inside La Vida. The detonator of the situation was caused by a guest assaulting another visitor by slapping him over the head! After a brief confrontation, both parties decided to take the action outside, heading to the back of the nightclub. Two men were egged on by a huddle of individuals, they broke out into a fistfight. Just before the emergency services arrived one of the two dropped to the ground. Just as he was assisted onto his feet, the law enforcement arrived and entered La Vida itself to get more information. Once the noise of the sirens hit the scene, the group dispersed, leading to no arrests being made. Some of the crowd were seen huddling together on a porch just across the road from where this incident took place. VISIT OUR WEBSITE - CLICK HERE

  8. Hoax Hostage Situation in Textile City MATHIAS VIRAMONTES It was the 5th of September and the sky of Los Santos has just turned dark, when emergency lights and blaring sirens lit it up again. Several units of the Los Santos Police Department's Special Weapons and Tactics team, along with their Crisis Negotiation Team, were called to a scene of an on-going hostage situation up in the small commerce neighborhood Textile City. Inside the building at the parking lot the suspect barricaded himself inside and the negotiations that followed were unsuccessful. This caused the Special Weapons and Tactics team to devise an entry plan. A few moments later, the suspect tore down his own prepared barricades and attempted to flee the scene on foot. Luckily the attempt was unsuccessful and the suspects was tasered and apprehended. The hostage situation turned out to be a bluff as no one was actually inside the residence in question. Given the number of officers that were dispatched to the scene, this was undoubtedly a highly unnecessary drain on the LSPD's resources. In an exclusive statement to LSNN, Lieutenant Armando Rosario commented: "No civilians, officers or suspects were injured during this incident.". VISIT OUR WEBSITE - CLICK HERE
  9. Surprising results at race event in Tongva Hills MATHIAS VIRAMONTES The Tongva Hills was the center of the Apex Logistics Sprint Masters event, presented by Bahama Mamas. Consisting of two separate classes, Pro (ACGPRO) and Vintage touring (ACGVT), the event officially started at 15:00 with two free practice rounds followed by a quick break. Once the break was over, drivers from the two classes competed on the aggressive course laced with winding chicanes and anti-cut barriers. The final tally was that both classes were, surprisingly, won by members of the same team. The team that goes by the name of Spirit Racing made their official debut during the event. Kenji Takemoto drove the fastest time to claim the first place in the Vintage touring class followed by Ayeme Mizuhara who took the grand prize of the Pro class. The event had support from both the Police Department and Fire Department, who were on hand to deal with trespassers on the track. The organisers have not confirmed whether there are any more upcoming races in the diary, so stay tuned to find out whether you'll have a chance to show off your driving skills in the future! 14. 14 / JULY / 2018 - A NEW BEGINNING The Los Santos Meteor is a news company which produces a number of media outputs, such as a newspaper, magazine and online news articles. The Meteor’s mission is to educate and entertain the public through a combination of honest, determined reporting and innovative media. Founded in 1950 by entrepreneur Jeremiah Deisley, the Los Santos Meteor has gained renown for its iconic newspaper, reporting on the biggest news across the State since its inception. Unfortunately in recent years, thanks to a series of financial setbacks and the gradual decline of print media, the Los Santos Meteor has fell on hard times. What was once a household name in the city has become a shadow of its former self, relinquishing market share to large media conglomerates and corporations. Unable to support its staff and pay for publication licenses, the printing presses stopped and the offices closed in early 2016. However, as of March 2018, a phoenix has begun to rise from the ashes of the all-but-forgotten organisation. Eric Szymanski, CEO, has initiated a revitalisation project; starting with the recruitment of two senior members of staff. Mathias Viramontes, previously Managing Editor at Weazel News, has been brought on board for his proficiency in producing high quality media outputs; notably being Weazel’s leading publisher for several months. Szymanski approached Viramontes over a coffee and casually brought up the idea of working together to rebuild LSM. After much deliberation, Mathias decided to accept, abandoning his position at Weazel to pursue an exciting, albeit risky, opportunity. He now serves as the Chief Operating Officer at LSM. Recognising that a successful media outlet requires considerable marketing and a 'public face', Szymanski then set out to find a suitable candidate to become the new Director of Communications. Allegra Nixon, well-known politician and ex-journalist, was more than willing to answer the call. Her past as a notable public figure, spokesperson and writer made her the perfect choice for the role. Supported by a glowing recommendation from Mathias, Szymanski happily appointed Allegra as the new Director, responsible for driving LSM’s commercial interests forward. Nixon’s departure marked the second resignation from Weazel News in the same week. Szymanski, Viramontes and Nixon mark the start of a new era for the Los Santos Meteor, and their plans are highly ambitious. Nixon comments: “We want to take the Meteor to new heights. We believe that there is more than enough room in Los Santos for another media outlet; simply having one angle on a story is not enough. The citizens deserve an alternative, and we will happily provide.”. LSM’s revitalisation project is well underway, with the refurbishment of its offices and the publishing of new material at the top of the agenda. An aggressive and determined recruitment drive will follow. Watch this space, the Los Santos Meteor is soon to strike.
