I've been doing PD RP since 2012 as a detective beginning on LSRP, and yes there was a facial obstruction law on LSRP back in the day too. I was one of many people who abused it to arrest people, I won't lie. If I found someone I was targeting in direct violation of this law, I would use this as an excuse to search them and detain them. But it worked and I was able to do the job ICly. It was all IC. If people didn't wanna take their mask off and identify themselves, there were repercussions under facial obstruction or alien detention clause if we could not identify them. But once again, that's all IC. It should stay that way. There is nothing wrong with keeping it IC as it currently is. People are currently upset about people using /mask because for the most part, they cannot identify who killed them and therefore they are not able to retaliate and come up with an excuse as to why they know who did it OOCly. If someone takes the preparation and time to cover their whole character up ICly in order to avoid detection, including using an IC and OOC mask, they deserve that win in my honest opinion.

I know this server isn't LSRP, but it's LSRP inspired and started by people who came from LSRP. On there, people could /mask whenever they wanted to even without an IC mask. The fact that it's a rule that you're required to have an IC mask in order to OOC mask on this server is a great thing and a great expansion to that old rule. As far as I see it, it's an IC problem. The reason why people find an issue in it is because they aren't able to metagame people's names when something bad happens to them. Cops could ask people to take it off for whatever reason. Otherwise, it's their freedom to wear one. It's all IC. It would be pretty lame to restrict people on it imo.

I mean it is definitely weird when you have 17-25 year olds out on the streets with "priors" for murders and a host of other crimes. It just realistically doesn't make any sense. Going into jail at 18 and being able to get out at the same age of 18 and still claim u went inside for murder just seems silly. I don't know what the solution should be but I do agree it should be looked into.
