  1. i think you might be severely underestimating how many people shit and piss their pants on the forums when they get CK'd
  2. i appreciate the honest and level-headed feedback. it would be great if some sort of compromise could happen that would allow investigation roleplay to occur without locking out a character's ability to RP as well.
  3. i don't think it needs to be removed. i think there's a few things people have suggested here that could be helpful, like lowering the time if there's no RP, or finding ways to create RP in the room with the holding cells, etc. i agree that TTCF could stand to be more active (especially womens), but at least there's RP to be had there, and it's often really great RP. it seems that replacing investigation hold with time in TTCF isn't feasible, so i guess that's a bit of a brick wall.
  4. this is kinda exactly my point? you lock someone out of RPing their character for 2 days to focus on your own law enforcement RP, which is literally OOC consequences for IC actions. it's essentially an ajail. while i appreciate and even agree that the best way to handle the current state of investigation holds is to just take a 2 day break, it also is a great example of the fact that people are essentially being stuck in an RPless box for 2 entire days as a result of a mere IC suspicion that they have something to do with a crime.
  5. "detectives can't be online 24/7" but Jamal White must be online so he can roleplay with himself. it's so frustrating that you look for genuine input and suggestions but all you get is "try pleading guilty lol"
  6. this makes sense, but only covers one of the smaller things mentioned. there's still the much larger issue of being locked away from any RP for 2 entire real life days, when there are prison sentences given to characters who actually committed crimes that get them off and back RPing in under half that time. AND they got to have prison RP in the interim, while we're locked up staring at a wall, as a previous commenter said. it would be neat to have someone to RP with, that would solve a lot of the issues mentioned.
  7. i don't think it should be removed at all, i agree with an earlier commenter that suggested lowering the time if no detectives or guards log in to RP with you within a time frame. that seems reasonable. also, if your solution to a proposed problem is "just RP with yourself", i don't consider that a coherent solution. and the reason i didn't bother responding to your "complaints" was because all you said was "IRL is different than the server", and no shit it is? this is a video game. we don't WANT it to take as long as things do in real life, that's why there's literally a system to get you out of jail faster when you ROLEPLAY with other inmates. but you know what it's become? a joke of a system where people sometimes spam 3 /ames while sitting in their cell. the attempt at solving a problem is there, so developers and admins clearly already know that it hinders people's stories and can disrupt RP as a whole when you lock them away from other players for too long. it's less of an issue with prison, because other people are sometimes there, and prison RP can be amazing. but for 48 hour hold, that often is NOT the case, and there can be long stretches of time with no RP whatsoever, even if the player sits online for hours and hours. and *because* LEO's also know this is a problem, people will sometimes abuse the system to harm other people's RP on purpose. that's a thing that happens, people from EVERY type of roleplay do that sort of thing. it sucks, but it DOES happen. besides, you and i both know there aren't people sitting next to the holding cells "all the time". that's just a lie.
  8. again, there are people clearly saying in this very thread that we've personally been in situations where there was nobody on any time we logged in, it was just an empty room. but for whatever mysterious reason, you just "don't buy" it. nobody is saying we have any problem with JAIL RP. the problem is that there is often NO RP WHATSOEVER for 48 hours when this happens. you can dismiss it all you want, but it doesn't make the actual experiences any less valid.
  9. see now THIS is a great suggestion - detention officers specifically for holding cells instead of prison. although, the simpler suggestion is of course just sending them to TTCF.
  10. i think you might have misunderstood my initial point as well. jail / prison RP is still RP, and i personally enjoy it. my issue is with the NON-RP that comes along with most 48 hour investigation holds. it seems that there's a variety of reasons this happens, and i'm interested in talking about the actual reasons rather than just bashing people for having a differing RP experience. i realize that was silly to expect of forum.gta.world, but we all make mistakes. of the experiences with 48 hour hold that come to mind (which are 4 currently off the top of my head), only one of them had anyone reach out on discord to potentially expedite RP. and even then, the detective handling the case did not log on during any of the times that could have lined up, halting the RP despite their honest attempts to solve that problem. so the problem is not seemingly with detective RPers at all - just that there aren't enough of them maybe!
  11. things going okay at home champ?
  12. so you literally just came to shit on illegal RPers and you think you have the moral high ground? you are HERE to intentionally derail an actual conversation, and you STILL think you're in the right? i hope u keep your main character syndrome to your online life so your friends and family don't have to deal w this shit.
  13. i'm starting to think a lot of the people replying have missed this point on purpose. the issue is you're put into the no-RP box for imaginary crimes, and that destroys the RP of the potential criminal RPer. but nobody gives a shit about that. it's just "Think Of The Detectives That Might Log In" so far, and boy that's real fucking disappointing.
  14. and if you aren't guilty, just kick rocks, right? real great discussion thanks
  15. so then why did you say lawyers had nothing to do with it? then you insinuated that criminals in 48 hours not wanting to log in was an issue - but what would YOU do when you're in a single solitary box and you have absolutely no idea when anyone else is going to log in to RP with you? i was giving my opinion as well, as someone who has done illegal RP for roughly the same amount of time you've been a detective RPer. but you disregard my opinion in favor of your own - so no, it's not me with the "cop good criminal bad" mentality. i just pointed out yours and you're sour about it. this isn't going anywhere so bidding you a good day.
  16. completely agree. or at least, some sort of sentence that includes going to actual prison. some of the best RP i've ever had was in prison, so it isn't like there's a lack to be had. i'd much prefer that then getting locked in a box then watching all the cops around me log off. like no shit i wouldn't want to log on when there's literally zero RP to be had in this situation.
  17. previously in this very same thread, it was mentioned that demanding a lawyer and taking the issue to court was a potential way to deal with a 48 hour hold the player may think is done sloppily or with poor motive. which is why i mentioned it. it was also in my original point, and i've been in this situation and seen faction members deal with it plenty of times, that no "investigation" happens whatsoever, and we're often told that it's because the detectives aren't active enough, or there aren't enough of them to fill activity slots. i'm sure that YOU yourself and your detective friends consider yourselves pinnacles of activity, but that is not always the case, and if you were to suggest it was, you'd be telling a bold face lie and we both know it. i was interested in discussing this with someone who RPs a detective, but it seems like you're eager to devolve it into Cops Good, Criminals Bad, and that's very disappointing.
  18. is this something you think could be solved by incentivizing things like detective and investigation RP, or by perhaps making the forum courtroom situation more streamlined or have quicker turnaround time? that would solve one of my biggest issues with it right away, as there would actually be investigations happening within that time that could prove or disprove the characters guilt without messing up an entire RP situation for 2 entire days. it would also mean that "lawyering up and battling it" wouldn't be so much of a deterrent, because it would be a process less agonizing. also while i absolutely have respect for the amount of rp that has to happen in that 48 hours while cops and detectives "build the case", i'm wondering if yall can share some of that same care for John Criminal who has his RP completely frozen and halted in that very same amount of time.
  19. this is very interesting information. it sounds like this is due for yet another change, since the culture and behaviors of the server has evolved just as they did in the past to warrant these previous changes.
  20. i'm talking about 48 hour investigative hold, NOT prison sentences. now you're just being pedantic and insulting for no reason. if you don't want to actually discuss the topic at hand, move along.
  21. if the time could go be 3x faster like it does for prison, I would say sure, just bite the bullet and deal with it. but the fact of the matter is it's a mix of IC and OOC issues, having to do with everything from length of time, to detective and lawyer availability, to LEO being mad they couldn't officially charge someone they want to pin for a crime - it's a bit of a mess. hence why there could be some changes made to fix these issues, such as incentivizing detective or investigation RP.
  22. "lawyer up and battle it IC" is a ridiculous thing to expect someone to do, especially when lawyers are ALSO few and far between (as far as actual IG activity goes), and honestly i think that LEO often take advantage of the fact that they know nobody wants to sit through 3 weeks of courtroom RP on the forums just because a cop locked them up for a shitty reason.
