    Dai Fu

In ancient times, medicine was done through superstition, and medical practitioners [wielded] various mystical powers which other human beings [could] only obey. According to Chinese tradition, all Chinese are proud “children of Yan and Huang,” legendary founders of traditional Chinese medicine. The Chinese language also reveals the honor doctors once enjoyed: Chinese call doctors “Dai Fu,” which also means scholar-bureaucrats and “Xian Sheng,” or master; medicine is seen as both protective and authoritative. "Evolution of the perception of the doctor's role in China," Jinya Cao & Jing Wei, August 30, 2014 Since William Peterson first coined the term "model minority" in his article, "Success Story: Japanese American Style," in The New York Times Magazine in 1966 -- Asian Pacific Islander Americans have carried the stereotype of a hard working, education-hungry, social ladder-climbing group. Notions that APIAs study harder, do better in weed-out courses like physics and biology, and achieve better scores on standardized testing all fit into the model minority myth. These expectations put a relatively high percentage of APIAs on the path to one of the toughest and most respected fields -- medicine. APIAs who want to become doctors often deal with societal pressures to fit the "model minority" mold, family pressures to achieve, and academic pressures to persevere through difficult years as an undergrad, medical student, intern, resident and physician. In medical school, some APIA students realize developing a personal identity is more complex than fitting the stereotype as a "model minority." Striking a balance between socially constructed identities and their true selves becomes a challenge. "Doctors: The APA Dream Profession," Ji Hyun Lim, 2001

  3. ♫ “Well, I was there and I saw what you did, I saw it with my own two eyes So you can wipe off that grin, I know where you've been” ♫ ♫ “It's all been a pack of lies And I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord Well, I've been waiting for this moment for all my life, oh Lord” ♫ This thread follows the story of Dr. Phillip Hirsch, a physician fired from Pillbox Hill Medical Center whose future is uncertain. About him... Phillip was born in Düsseldorf, Germany in the 17th of November of 1991. He moved to Liberty City when he was 8, and then came to Los Santos at 18. He enrolled into ULSA and obtained a Master's degree in Physiology and a Bachelor's in German Language and Literature. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2018, and has numerous additional certifications: Basic Life Support certified by the American Heart Association, 2018 Certification by the American Board of Family Medicine, 2019 Certified Physician Executive by the American Association for Physician Leadership, 2023 He was employed by Pillbox Hill Medical Center for about six months. He was often seen working in the Emergency Room and is known as 'Dr. House' due to his cane. However, Hirsch lost his job after obtaining a criminal record. A photo sourced from his Facebrowser page. ((https://face.gta.world/phil.hirsch)) Dr. Hirsch's business card. The quote on it reads: “There is only one God and his name is Death. And there is only one thing we say to Death: not today.”
