  1. it'll give me fucking-- power and running water. i'll pay you back when i can.
  2. I don't think there's really even enough entities like this on server to warrant such prohibitive and expensive commands, where in place you could have a set of alarms with varying (much cheaper prices) specifically for businesses and such, and if need be, you could have administrators chime in to the business owner on whether or not their business needs that specific level of an alarm. For example, an arcade does not need the same alarm system as a jewelry store. Also, these prices seem far too outlandish even when you account for the security being offered to large company headquarters. I think the idea of adding a chance for an alarm not to trigger, or perhaps giving a false positive, is a great one - it'd give RP for both LEO and criminal characters. However, adding this and then adding an option to completely counteract that system seems counter-intuitive as it allows people to find a way to not get robbed, ever. I think with a system like this, there should never be a 100% guarantee on either side of the ordeal. No alarm should have a 100% success rate, and no burglary should have a 100% success rate. Burglaries are dangerous, and you're taking a big risk by doing so, and preventing it entirely kills the possibility for RP to happen.
  3. Alarm systems and how burglaries are handled on a whole definitely does need a rework, but some of this stuff is far less about supporting roleplay and much more about supporting whether or not you have the script cash to buy an insane alarm to counteract the burglary or to buy the tools to hardly ever fuck up. Burglaries are a big deal, especially in today's day and age where alarms are just going to become more and more effective. I do believe that there shouldn't be a 100% guarantee of an alarm going off, just so that RP can happen. However, making it so that there's a constant big chance is just going to make admins less and less likely to respond to a break-in request because if people know that an alarm hasn't gone off, they're going to take their sweet time searching every nook and cranny because they feel as if they won't be caught in what they're doing. I'm not saying every idea is bad, nor am I saying I think alarms and burglaries are good in their current state - I'm just not sure how some of this is conductive to RP, why we'd need a new 'role' as you mentioned, or why it'd have to be so RPG-ish.
  4. What do you have to say on what UTOPIA posted? After reading his post it's got me thinking a lot more critically on this newly proposed system.
  5. My worry isn't about time being the only factor; perhaps I'm misreading or misinterpreting the initial post, but I meant more that the time limit set on a faction before they're given the chance to progress. I understand needing things to be fair, however, rather than having something as long as a 3 month waiting period (I understand this is to promote longevity), the absolute minimum time between factions progressing tiers should be a month just to ensure they aren't sprinting through the system. I think a good counter to this is a more in-depth look in to why a faction would be applying for progression earlier than the current 3 month period, through asking or looking in to their growth over the time since their last 'upgrade' in order to make sure they're not just trying to game this new system - though, I understand this could be a bit much for IFM to deal with as there'll likely be a LOT of requests.
  6. I like this idea overall, but I agree that having a set time between faction progression limits things in some way. I agree that it should be a case by case basis as opposed to strict time limits, pardon maybe a couple of weeks to prevent immediate growth.
