  1. Agreed, very cringe. Whoever’s doing that needs to go.
  2. Wasn’t trying to take anything out on you, It just seemed that you were in favour of dismantling elections in favour of appointments.
  3. The majority of the server historically has voted red. I don’t see what your solution is unless you want to do away with elections and stick to appointments only? There’s always been a good chunk of players roleplaying both Democrats and Republicans. You can’t force anyone to vote in any direction, as elections are simply the will of the playerbase. If you want to change this, then you’re going up against 60-70% of the playerbase, including all major factions which vote red. Do we stick with elections and let the players decide who they want in office, or do we scrap them because we haven’t met our Democrat:Republican ratio/quota? I personally disagree with the whole argument that we should be adhering to anything that is Los Angeles/California based as creative freedom in a roleplay setting is crucial for fun and enjoyment. This is with the exception that beyond appearance, no one should be renaming major departments to something crazy like the Los Santos Super Duper Police Department or varying from the overall aesthetic of major departments (uniforms, vehicles etc). In essence we should only look like Los Angeles at the surface level. Everything else should be left to creative freedoms, including being allowed to establish criminal groups that aren’t necessarily found in California (LCN, cartel cells etc).
  4. I’ll hit you up personally soon, I’ve already had a brief discussion with Hugh-Gi-Oh
  5. Having dealt with and observed your members over the course of the last 3-4 years, my claims are more than fair to make as I speak from first-hand experience. I'm not trying to be toxic here, I've merely made suggestions to correct the course your faction is on. Take it as you will or ignore it, and if you need assistance with the elections, we can defer them if needed or allow a greater time frame to field candidates. The only one being antagonistic here is you, if you aren't interested in a diplomatic solution then don't vent your concerns and issues if you aren't willing to take a suggestion.
  6. The same can very much be said about you in this instance, with how increasingly arrogant your argument is, making you abundantly unaware of my history within GTAW, and my intentions to foster more government roleplay for the community. Even now as Mayor, I don't fit into your accusation of an office-dweller, my character is constantly on the front lines in-game with the rank-n-file, actually solving issues both on an in and out-of-character scale. To call me power-hungry is definitely an absurd way to start, but then you 180 and completely bash the realism aspect of having a roleplayed election and having elected officials in place to tie government roleplay altogether. You want your cake and to eat it too but unfortunately, that's not how it works. You claim your way has historically worked, but it is so tirelessly wrong, that you've deluded yourself into believing it ever worked in the first place. The system we have now works, and it continues to work. An example being, the previous Mayor was inactive for several years, and everyone praised him as "working behind the scenes". Even after the leadership transition in LSGOV occurred, I could barely find any record of what was achieved by someone appointed to do the job, in fact, most of what could be found? Traced back to me when I was the mayor previously years ago, he was just inactive with nothing to show for it. The fact of the matter is, people like having political figures involved in their roleplay, the amount it contributes to the server's word-building is endless and often highly appreciated. Not only does it fulfill the worldbuilding aspect, but it contributes to the actual functioning of the server, such as the passage of laws. At the Port Authority? We often had an issue with troll characters targetting truckers, so what did we do? We had legislation passed that allows for the Port to trespass nuisances. It's first-hand experiences like that which serve as proof that the system does indeed work when players come together and put in the effort. The concerns of RPQM or the appearance of certain political characters is definitely a valid concern, I'm not here to dispute that and agree with both you and Uncut on that. In terms of delving into political roleplay, both the State and City always welcome people with open arms, and I personally have on many occasions gone out of my way to make time and help teach people the nuances and encourage their involvement in the political scene, many of those people are still involved in some extent today or are planning to get involved as the Council elections approach. Political roleplay is only looking good for 2023/2024 with the City Council making its comeback, there's a lot of interest invested in it by the community. Quite frankly, you're just being negative and it really shows. The City Council will consist of five seats, yes. The issues the Democratic Party has is a deeper, structural, and seeded issue. Throughout my time on GTAW, the party has often given off a toxic aura, with its members constantly going on the attack both in-character and out-of-character for the smallest of things rather than just letting the roleplay flow. There's also the RPQM aspect, while the GOP may have some people I see as questionable, the Democrats often fielded the majority of cases in my opinion, which also contributes to their shortcomings in elections as appearances and image do matter. The second issue is involvement, the Democrats aren't really "out there". There's no constant involvement in the community, no dedicated people on that side of the aisle to get out there and host events, and keep up appearances. This all sounds biased coming from me as both of my political characters on the server have been part of the GOP, but I was going to consider running with the Democrats for the Mayoral election. I wanted to give the party a shot and was in IC/OOC talks with Hugh-Gi-Oh/Diana Jones about it. It was ultimately the party's image issues and lack of dedicated members that'd be there to support not only myself but the party as a whole which led me to the decision to run with the GOP again, it would have been one-sided I feel. Until these two issues can be resolved, I feel that your faction is going to continue to suffer as it has. I really suggest a makeover, re-brand, or restart. Whatever you think is most feasible. I say these things not to cast harm or ill feelings but from a point of genuine care. In order for political RP to flourish more, both sides of the aisle need to be on their A-Game.
  7. Definitely being a negative nancy. Both systems work, and having worked in both the city and state for years now, both are adequately staffed besides actual /elected/ positions, as most people don't care for the political roles themselves, such as a Senator. It's fair, it's something you can't avoid, but you can't run any form of government faction without political positions, despite how low interest there may be for them. You have to keep it at it, as it is proven those roles will be filled in due time. It's very easy to staff a faction, only certain roles suffer as people don't jump head-first into any political role as they see it as a lot of headache or nuances that they're intimidated by.
  8. By continuing to find and recruit those who are interested? The same thing every faction does, fill vacancies over time.
  9. https://face.gta.world/posts/417711 we're hoping to announce City Council elections before the end of the month.
  10. You'd be surprised! We've got some very dedicated people signed up.
  11. CPS does exist, it’s a new venture being setup by LSGOV leadership as the bill was only passed recently. Protectees are being hired, housing setup and we’ve already got a few Ms in our protection.
  12. Real-life beliefs and understandings definitely have some sway on how people approach political RP. I personally have no connection to my IC beliefs, and consider my character to be vastly disconnected from my actual real-life beliefs. Though I'm a firm believer in the "this is San Andreas, not California" crowd. I believe in a fictional setting, you should be able to RP whatever concept you want, as long as your character isn't a troll or their sole purpose is to disrupt RP (i.e. a Donald Gibson type character.), as ultimately none of it matters in the end. Political RP should be allowed to sway either way the playerbase desires based on solely in-character events and voting. Real-life polls and demographics should have no weight on how we should be forced to pick and choose our character's beliefs and decisions. Realistic Republican and Democrat beliefs, policies, and economics are not simply possible in GTAW at all, and they never will be. GTAW is its own microcosm that suffers hyperinflation and a crime rate on par with World War 2 death tolls, so trying to apply realistic logic where it will never work is simply impossible. One last thing is the OOC factor. Some people vote on who they may think is simply the better pick on an OOC level. And that has a lot to do with the image your character presents, how you roleplay and the amount of effort you can put into your campaign. I'll leave it at that.
  13. Username: Hank Preston Comment: Nothing but lies, Spencer has gone off the deep end and is losing his mind with these extreme views. We collectively ousted him as the Executive Committee, it was a unanimous decision. When push came to shove with this insane direction he went, we came together and stood for AMERICAN values, not his hateful views. Personal liberty, freedom and expression above all, there’s a reason why we don’t let religion decide how the law and government works in America.
  14. Username: RW Comment: In Los Santos? It definitely is, because the media can’t do their own job. Being proactive is the only way to get things done in this city.
  15. Username: RW Comment: The event was a public press conference hosted by the Senator regarding his education agenda. Doesn’t it makes sense he’s the one getting the main coverage? I was there, and I didn’t really see anyone from the school staff jumping to give a statement to the reporters on scene, from both LSI and LSNN. That doesn’t mean their input doesn’t matter though.
  16. Username: RW Comment: That doesn’t even make sense, buying votes implies you’re giving money directly to someone for their vote. You’re just retarded and can’t understand sometimes people do genuinely kind things. If it was a democrat, you’d be singing their praises.
  17. *This poster could be found plastered all throughout various spots in South and East Los Santos.
  18. Name: Hank Preston Rating: - 5/5 Comment: Very affordable prices, good selection. I wish there was a franchise open in the City as well.
