  3. Wish you the best of luck, I wanna see some b's and c's throw down.
  4. Dead End Harpys 13 are a street gang planted in the heart of South Los Santos, acting as an urban operation for the Mexican mafia (also known as La Eme). Further ties to La Eme can be made out from the number thirteen in their name which pays homage to their allegiance to the prison operated criminal organization. Orders often find their ways out from the thick prison walls to shot callers of Sureño street sets such as the Dead End Harpys gang, these orders usually mean green lights set by the upper echelons of La Eme. The gang is a sub-set for the Sureños populated by youngsters grown up in the area the gang claims territory. Initiated members of the gang often prove ruthless and willing to do anything to gain respect in order to climb the hierarchy. Recognition is gained by “putting in work”, carrying out criminal activities such as drug dealing, homicide and mugging. Teenagers are usually brought in by their relatives or lured in by the glamorized life styles of those involved. People born outside the neighborhood are not allowed into the gang. The Harpys name is derived from the American Harpy Eagle, which is the largest and most powerful raptor found in America. The Harpy's Gang operates out of Rancho. FACTION GUIDELINES If interested in joining this faction it is required by you to fully understand how to realistically portray an outsider and/or gang member of the Dead End Harpys Gang 13. Below I will list some important things to take into consideration for your character creation, development and action. 1.1 Do not speak full sentences in Spanish, we portray a street gang ran by second generation immigrants. These people are born in Los Santos and speak primarily English, they may have a slight grasp on Spanish depending on how dedicated they are to learn their mother tongue but generally a teenager wouldn’t have a tight grasp on the language. 1.2 Refrain from using Mexican first names as much as you can. Since we’re second generation immigrants we naturally adopt American first names in order to adapt to the society. 1.3 Don’t use random Mexican terms that no one knows of, they will only cause confusion. Follow the general slang list as it has been established as a foundation in the gang for decades. (also see: 1.1) 1.4 Portray your character as born or residing in the area. Outsiders will be paid no respect. 1.5 If you fail to properly dialog your character you’re susceptible to mockery (all in character, of course). Watch some documentaries/videos on how Sureños talk today. (It’s still much the same but with very subtle changes) 1.6 Know how to properly design the look of your character. Sureños are known to wear blue and grey sports clothing (although Harpys also wear red/brown). Other clothing articles include flannels, baggy Dickies shorts & chinos, black mittens, Chuck Taylor's, white sneakers and baggy shirts of all colors. Most men are bald, also known as pelon's, donning tattoos all across their bodies (including the facial area). Refrain from wearing bandana's as they’re not commonly worn amongst Sureños on a regular basis. If you have a hard time getting a unique look, try going shirtless. Do not role play having a “Sureños” or three-dot tattoo unless you’ve formally been jumped into a Sureño street gang. 1.7 Role playing drug use is heavily encouraged and not just marijuana. Heavier drugs are commonplace in street gangs, do not be afraid to role play an addict, you will still be respected amongst the hood as long as you keep it reasonable. Showing flaws in your character is encouraged. 1.8 Drug distribution is a focal point of the Harpys and sometimes their main source of income. Feel free to do your thing without having a word with an official Harpys member, however keep in mind that arrangements may be made based on your business in the neighborhood. 1.9 Don’t just stand around on the street all day. Try to introduce new approaches to your role play, think of something interesting that could enhance the gritty suburban atmosphere in the neighborhood. Introduce conflicts, back story and dialog. BUILDING A CORE We're still building a strong backbone for the faction, if you're interested in an organization that is going to put in a lot of time and effort into the game; hit us up. We believe our first weeks are going to be the toughest, so the earlier you get in; the more important your input. You may private message either me or @Jackie on the forums, alternatively adding us on discord. You may also reach us by joining our discord channel. Click here for discord channel invite! 5. Naw, I said RPG elements. Being forced to react to a situation is a part of role play, the difference is that I get quality role play unlike being forced to run to the store to refill my food bar. What is this going to add to the server as a whole? A store running out of chicken sandwiches? Is that something I would give a damn about? In role play you have to put focus on the important details and not the minor irrelevant matters. I'm not okay with it because it comes at the cost of dealing with unnecessary annoyances.
  6. I like the term "background dancer", nice touch. I see your point and rest assured, you're appreciated on the server as much as anyone else. There's a line between RPG and RP that we can agree on as long as it's not forced down my throat. I'm here for role play though, pure sandbox role play where I can play the role of someone without having to break my back grinding for it. There's plenty of other games for that. I want my time to be directed towards nothing but role play. I don't care about the money, the assets, the status, nothing. I want pure dialog between myself and others in order to shape character development and story and I want to portray it realistically, therefore if I want to RP someone that's grown up in the hood, perhaps inherited the house of their parents, I'd like to be able to buy that house in-game and have it serve me for my role play purposes. There's no point in me breaking my back grinding for a house because I'm not buying it to show it off, it's merely a tool for me to tell a story. I think that's reasonable. A few years back on my own SA-MP server I was going to introduce a system where you could apply for character assets, such as a house, car, whatever you needed to fulfill your role play needs. Of course there had to be a good reason for each asset and a background story to why they would have it. A very good reason. Safe to say, most applications would be denied but the ones that made sense would potentially prove to bring tremendous value to the role play atmosphere in game. We're on different sides of the coin but I've heard you out.
  7. I don't want RPG elements forced into my role play experience. If my character's hungry I will role play it accordingly, and I can guarantee you it will be a hundred times more fleshed out than me running off the block "(( hol on sec gotta refill food bar lul )) for the hundredth time. These ideas do not actually promote any valuable role play, only introduce further annoyances and will backfire horribly.
  8. If you have a great idea on how to incorporate money into your role play (that involves other players) then forward it to the admins. I don't think they'll straight out discard your idea. We need to stop talking and start doing, I don't have any interest in legal role play so I won't be doing it, but if I ever have an idea that might help strengthen my role play atmosphere (and potentially bring in some money) you better believe I'm asking the management for help. Start a conversation and be reasonable.
  9. Of course the developers will use any props offered by the GTA universe to flesh out the jobs, but you're naive if you think everyone's going to mix role play into their "grinding". All jobs that offer nothing to the server in regards to role play should be abolished, they only scatter out the players that we need to interact with each other; that's the whole point of this server. Drop the mining and think outside the box for a second. What we need are jobs that offer roles that are dependent of each other so they may encourage interaction between each other, thus creating role play and at the same time rewarding the player with a paycheck. If you wish to grind in a job, by yourself, then why not just join an RPG server?
  10. Great screenshots, really captures sweating your ass off at work out in the sun with your pals before dressing up again, finding yourself in a cool parking garage ready to head home after a long days of work. I like it so far.
  11. That has and always will be a problem, that's why people have to hit up the people they want to role play with OOC'ly in order to set up some kind of interactive scenario or other arrangement. Letting all of that happen naturally in game is far more exciting, but the harsh truth is that the chance of that happening is minimal. Become less shy, contact the person you'd wish to role play with and hope for the best. This doesn't imply that you need to have an already established bond IC'ly, it's just a way to find each other in game. It's far better than making a character and end up driving around in the city all alone wondering why nothing's happening. Even though these first interactions may have been "scripted", they will grant players the possibility of letting their established role play blossom into something new and interesting. I completely agree, the application system should stay as it is. If people aren't willing to create a quick application, they're not ready to put any effort into their role play anyway.
