I support it but i'm pretty sure y'all can't just not RP with someone if they RP with you. That's a pretty sad attitude.

there’s a shit tonne of ways to deal with it, they will mostly be situational and unique. If you want to avoid RP you’re playing the wrong game.

There’s already a rule suggestion thread regarding this. Just add to that rather than make the 3rd or 4th thread regarding extortion on the forums.

The job of PD is to act as realistically as possible as the local police force, that involves not just tackling first response type crime but also investigating other crimes such as this. They have the tools to easily combat this crime in the form of surveillance equipment. Just because people don’t want to RP this side of being in the police doesn’t mean OOC restrictions should be placed on criminal role players. That’s absolutely insane.

Right, the issue is the seemingly every business that airs an ad is being extorted, thats what it seems like. With no repercussions it will continue, the repercussions shouldn’t be brought down by an invisible OOC barrier. The ones whos job it is to bring about repercussions for criminals who are committing crime is the PD and it’s brother and sister organisations. As a mostly criminal RPer I’d be devastated if the administration took away things for me to do and did it themselves, idk why as a member of PD you’re so willing for admins to take RP in the form of these kind if investigations away from you.

There’s more to fear than that, If PD were investigating. If this is true and you have all of these people coming in daily stop paying them and tell them you’re already paying X, if they give you more hassle tell X to sort it out. It’s their job to protect their extortion victims.

This isn’t a suggestion thread, correct. But a suggestion thread on this very topic had been made more than likely in light of this exact thread.

If they take an ooc report ICly then report them further. Another approach people could take is to contact the faction hierarchy and let them know about it, provide them proof and let them know the RP is bad, unrealistic whatever. I know for a fact, with the group of people i tend to RP with if they were to be sent evidence of me RPing in a bad way they’d get a grip of me and tell me to wise up. This is how every faction should be. I wasn’t talking about you specifically, but others who claim to have been in such situations over and over again.

You know what it’s fine if those who are complaining about it don’t want to report, that’s up to them. However, to not report about and then complain about it over and over is beyond silly. If you’re not going to report it when it happens you don’t deserve to complain about it. You’re clearly not that upset with the RP if it wasn’t worth your time to make a report.

I see a lot of stories but not a lot of solid evidence. You’re all complaining about rampant poorly RPd extortions but I’ve not seen one of you post evidence or one of you make a report. I am on your side in the fact that I believe those are RP it badly or unrealistically should be punished but that cannot and will not happen until you guys start posting actual proof and either reporting it or passing it to said faction hierarchies and having them sort it. Complaining about an issue won’t fix it, you need to actually do something substantial that will require slightly more effort than complaining on this thread.

The main argument you guys have is because it’s “done poorly” yet I have seen only one report that actually mentions poor extortion. You guys are just too lazy to report bad extortion RP so want extra rules to prevent extortion in general. What you’re suggesting is the same as me suggesting that all guns should be restricted because some people deathmatch, or all vehicles should be restricted because some people vdm. It would be ludicrous to suggest those things and you’d report it instead. You guys need to start collating actual evidence of piss poor extortion and actually punish the people doing it badly. I’ve read enough of your guys constant complaining and going off of second/third/fourth/fifth hand stories that your friends and friends friends have told you but never actually shown proof of. The annoying thing is I agree with you guys in that some people are probably RPing it poorly but you just refuse to provide evidence.

I’m more than willing to do that, Infact it’s something I want to see a lot more. We just need to rid the phobia of said dark side.

That just further adds to my point that the whole legal vs illegal character thing stupid. Especially when some so called legal characters have had more punishments for their crimes than some criminal characters.
