  1. By using the logic employed by admins in respect to robbery, only a maximum of 800 - 900 people in the entire state of San Andreas even get to see these advertisements.

That's equivalent to someone going around and placing flyers into letterboxes or under doors to advertise their services.

I personally am not a fan of prostitution RP, but these advertisements are hardly invasive at all, assuming we apply logic consistently to all illegal endeavors.

  2. Date of incident: May 27 2021

Rules broken: 0 (admin discretion), 1 (common courtesy), 2 (PG), 3 (MG).

    Your ingame name: Nayeli Greyfeather

Names of witnesses (if applicable): Various admins

Explanation of the incident (250 word limit): I'm sorry this situation is too complex to keep to the word limit but I'll try to be as brief as I can.

Evidence: To be provided to the responding admin

    Reason for the report

I believe that @Meatball (Aidan Kirkland) misled an admin -  I don't know whether intentionally or unintentionally - and that the admin who gave me an ajail claimed I had "threatened" Aidan when I didn't do any such thing. The admin also said that I made unfounded accusations of bias by admins to favor Aidan, but all I was saying was what Aidan has told me all along about how he:

    (1) knows admins on the server and he can ask them to effectively excuse him from RP that he doesn't want to do (I have proof of him saying that to me on discord),

    (2) knows admins that can solve problems for him that he wants solved (I have proof of him saying that), and

    (3) is also friends with at least three deputies, two of who are also high ranked and are server admins (once again, I have evidence of this).

I believe that it was actually reasonable for me to raise this as a possibility with the admin who was acting on Aidan's report against me, since I was also trying to fight for information about who the admins were that Meatball has contacted and were telling him that what I was doing was powergaming.

In fact, one admin who he spoke to told him that inmates would be able to send emails but they would be monitored - which I figured that they would. So, on the advice of someone Nayeli spoke to on the TTCF phones, she password protected the sensitive Google documents that she shared by email to Aidan and others.

The reason discord evidence is important to this report is because I was asking Aidan all along whether he had used his admin contacts he told me about, especially the ones in the SD, to void an IC situation that was defintitely going to be very uncomfortable for his character, but is entirely justified from a character development perspective, yet is not unsolvable. It was @lambchops who issued the ajail, and I believe that this was done because he/she didn't have all of the relevant knowledge that I have, and why it was that I was asking questions about Aidan's attempts to shut down RP that was going to be inconvenient for his character.

Aidan has also misled the admin by claiming that I contacted him after he told me not to. This is not correct at all! I have the discord evidence to prove it.

    What am I asking for?

I don't want Aidan to be punished at all.

I just want the the ajail removed from my record. I also want the RP of Nayeli sending emails to people from the TTCF library reinstated. Not just the one she sent to Aidan, but the others too. @lambchops says that it's powergaming to use the TTCF computers to send personal correspondence, but there is no rule and no guidance at all that inmates can't use the library PCs to do this.

If SD didn't make any provision for this, and if the computers are there, Nayeli used it to send corrrespondence - including while a deputy was standing next to her as she did it - then it's entriely not appropriate to make up new rules after the fact to suit the convenience of one player over another. I've added some information at the end of this report, to show that it is possible for inmates to use email to communicate outside prisons in the US.

    Narrative

Nayeli and Aidan were in a relationship until the player, Meatball, took a break from the server late last year. That was fine, because he was going through some OOC issues on his faction discord and I supported his decision as a friend. It meant Nayeli would have to effectively change everything about her RP, but I did that and moved on.

Aidan returned to the server about a month ago. Nayeli met him by accident in a casino and the interaction was awkward, because he was back but he had not called her, despite having a friend with him when they met. They gradually grew to interact with each other, with this culminating in a discussion where he told her that he didn't want a relationship. It was all IC, so I left it that way. But Nayeli also told him that she couldn't speak to him again.

A day later and she's dancing in a club and he walks up to her and wants to dance. Nayeli is relatively cold, and he gets the point after a little while of hanging around, that she meant what she said. He left and then sends her a text message saying, "Just thought we could talk". I had RPd having Nayeli blocking his number, so I sent the message back "This number is blocked".

I immediately actually felt really bad about doing it, because I thought that I was possibly motivated by OOC feelings. So I spoke to him later on discord and said that we should void that because it was not fair to him, there really wasn't any IC motivation for Nayeli to do it anway, and his reaction to it on discord made me feel really terrible for what I did. We've got to know each other on discord and he's usually been really nice to me. He agreed.

After that, Aidan continued to contact her IC. He would text, and he would drop by her clinic to say hello. But a few of these times, she was busy with patients, but he told her that he'd wait or that he'd call her later to talk. He then would tell her later that he was tired, he was out partying with friends, or he had other things to do. All of this was RP. All okay.

Meanwhile I, Jada, had asked him to stop sending me things on discord about what his character was doing. He was sending me screenshots of how Aidan was having conversations about being afraid to die alone, he sent me photos of Aidan in his new plane with a woman beside him, of him driving in the country again with a different woman in the car with him, he also sent me information after I said not to, about how he had gone to prison. When I asked him why he was sending this to me and what he wanted me to do with the information, he told me "get curious". This is despite me telling him that it's not a good idea to tell me that stuff and him agreeing not to.

He also kept asking me IC and OOC whether Nayeli had been with anyone else after Aidan. She hasn't, so I told him that. I've RPed that she's too busy and that she stayed true to him. He acted like he doubted me and said on discord that "random people" keep PMing him if they see Aidan with Nayeli together and telling him other things. I told him that "Trolls will be trolls" and that I didn't care what random people say. But I was also confused about why on earth would he care, if Aidan and Nayeli weren't going to be together anyway. I felt I had to assure him that Nayeli was not going to engage in relationships with anyone else, so I told im she wouldn't.

But after the "get curious" message, I had a think about what was happening and I finally had enough and said to him on discord that we should keep things purely in character because he was sending me so many mixed messages; in game he wanted nothing to do with Nayeli - except to keep floating in and out, essentially keeping tabs on what she was doing - but yet on discord he was sending me things that he knew were giving me the opposite impression because I told him that. I was confused and I told him.

I also told him that I like to make people feel special and that despite me assuring him that Nayeli was not going to be in a relationship with anyone else, I actually find her being in a relationship to be fulfilling RP, because it lets me find creative ways for her to show she cares. I also said that I would be RPing Nayeli being in a relationship, if I knew I could trust the person she chose.

He got angry about it immediately, and misrepresented what I said. He then said he'd not speak IC or OOC. This was not what I said, because I actually said that it should only be IC from now on. I said that we shouldn't keep being friends - I said that because I wanted a pause on him sending me things OOC.  I like him and think he's a good role-player, so I hoped that the RP could continue, but stay entirely IC.

The actions that led to him getting the RP voided and me getting an ajail

Nayeli surrendered herself to police two days ago for her part in the killing last year of "Arrow", a Tongvan character who subsequently CKd himself for other reasons. It was Aidan who arranged the killing, and he did it for her, and she not only knew about it, but was there when he spoke to people she recognized to start the process. But the murder has played on her mind for a long time, I had considered surrendering anyway when Aidan was away, Nayeli had gone to confession to confess it, and there's just no way that Nayeli could RP with Natives while she knew she'd been partly responsible for Arrow's murder. Natives killing Natives is a huge betrayal. Nayeli knew she'd have to pay for what she did. So she turned herself in.

But she also knows that Aidan is dangerous. They were in a very intimate relationship, and during that time he revealed little by little that he was very powerful and connected in Blaine County. She doesn't know exactly what he did, only that he was a criminal and he had power. She insisted that he give that up if they were to stay together and he agreed, until he left the state. So she knows that he might try to kill her for speaking up.

Nayeli provided a written statement to PD setting out her part in the killing, saying that she asked for it to be done, but that it was some biker who offered to do it for her. She also stuck to the biker story during interviews, because she didn't want to get Aidan into trouble.

As far as she is aware, PD and the DA fell for her story. But she wrote a second statement, this one included Aidan's part in the murder, and also mentioned the person she recognized when she went with him to the first meeting to set up the killing. She has no intention to give that statement to LSPD. She only made it as insurance to make sure that Aidan will not kill her. She sent a password protected link to that statement to someone else using the TTCF computers, along with instructions that if she is killed or goes missing, they're to send it to LSPD and to LSNN. She also was thinking about later using it to make Aidan treat her better, but I hadn't really yet decided if that was something she would do.

She called him using the TTCF phones, so that she could tell him she didn't mention him to the police. He told her she'd called a wrong number and hung up, and she tried again. He just didn't answer this time. So she got angry and decided to send both statements to his email. She also sent a small letter telling him that she wasn't going to be treated like dirt, that she'd given the other statement to someone with instructions to give it to LSPD and LSNN on conditions being met, and that she would contact him when he wasn't so angry to tell him what she wanted.

Meatball immediately contacted me on discord demanding to know about various details and how I knew them, I told him and assured him that everything that I put in there was IC knowledge. He then sent me a screenshot of a conversation he had with an admin who had told him that the computers could be used for sending emails, but they'd be monitored. I knew this was the case, and - unlike the bank of phones in the hub, which have this notice next to them "[18:52:21] SIGN: All conversations made with this payphone are recorded", the SD had failed to put the same signs on the computers so even if they were monitoring, there was a clear legal case that anything she did email could never be used in evidence against her or Aidan.

Meatball then sent me a message he had from yet another admin he contacted, which was after the first one had told him that prisoners could send emails:

"honey.: you cannot send emails from jail
    [12:29 AM] honey.: that's powergaming"

I really couldn't avoid suspecting he was shopping around with friendly admins to get them to say the thing he wanted and then trying to lean on me to stop me from RPing.

    Conclusion

It's very convenient for Aidan to avoid RP consequences by an admin coming in and asserting powergaming, when prisoners having access to email on the computers quite obviously hadn't occurred to LFM and should in fact be permissible so that they can remain in contact with and email documentation to lawyers, family and contacts.

Below is a link to a discussion about how prisons are going towards a pay as you use email service. This is because it cuts down on contraband being smuggled into prisons using ordinary mail. There are various conditions, but I'm happy to RP those conditions and also to have admins take money from Nayeli's TTCF account  to send the emails. I also don't mind if they're able to monitor the emails, because the failure to notify prisoners that their email use is being monitored will mean law enforcement can't use the information anyway, because it will have been unlawfully obtained.

I can do more research on this if you like.

Another black male shot by the police sensational news it's what we're looking for.

Unless there was some unique twist to put on these stories, they actually always got the least number of views. Another black male shot by police was...well...just another black male shot by police. Just like another criminal caught at the end of a high speed pursuit.

Crime writing also requires more than just showing up on the scene, more often than not (especially in Davis/Rancho) witnesses were not forthcoming and police and deputies would just adhere to protocol and refer me to their media liaison office. That requires a written request for disclosure of information. I'm not saying it's impossible, just that it isn't as simple as it seems to be sure that whatever is being reported is accurate information.

One thing we did do to get around that was to do a "happening now" feed on LSNN's Facebrowser (I see some people have already suggested promoting FB more), and we would upload imagery from the crime scene along with whatever information we had been given. It's a way to keep LSNN on the top of the feed. That way if a story also developed, additional information could be obtained to inform a later article.

  4. Actually, I do have a question.

I hear about IFM. And I hear about LFM.

Does LFM represent the voices of those of us who choose to RP purely civilian characters?

From the original post, it seems that the admin approach was advocated for by IFM. Have civilian RPers had the chance to put their concerns directly to the admins? Do we even have someone doing that on our behalf?

I mean, there's some massive logical inconsistencies in the admins' approach which @DLimit has pointed out. The admins should address this, and should really explain to the entire community why some aspects of RP get a seeming free pass from realism, while other aspects don't.

"Rules for thee, but not for me."

People are just arguing to cut-down on the level of muggings and severe crimes, a bit, and maybe focus on other aspects of life that exist within a criminal being. There's more to being a criminal than to just commit crime.

Yep, but there's a few increasingly shrill voices here - one of whom seems kind of unhinged tbh - that can't (or won't) understand that.

I'd like to keep playing my character who doesn't have a gun. I'll try to continue to do that because my character has no real motive or desire to own a gun. She deliberately moved her business out of Los Santos to the country to avoid the high crime rates.

But if people no longer have to care about location of a crime, all of the forum topics telling us civilian RPers why we shouldn't own guns, why we should interact more with illegal RPers, why we should get out and walk around...well. Just stop making them.

  7. I'll add to this report.

My character was robbed by Dean Dillinger and two of his friends (Robert Lee-Johnson and Cornelius Armstrong) on May 12. They boxed my character in outside her clinic, Animal Ark, with their truck and then chased her and ran her off the road.

They insisted that I /showitems, which I refused. My character was unconscious the whole time because early on Dean RPd kicking her in the head while she was on the ground. I gave them everything of value I had, including my cellphone, cash and jewelry. Their first question, after I told them that's all I had, was whether I had any guns. My character doesn't, and I told them that.

Dean then RPd/scriptly stomped my character to death while she was unconscious on the ground. I reported it to Cheeezy, and asked for the death to be voided, the response that Cheeezy got from them was "[22:38:32] (( (187)  Cheeezy: The counter reported cause of not getting items ))".

Which is them clearly admitting that my refusal to /showitems was the reason they RP'd killing. Cheeezy also checked my inventory and confirmed that I had given them everything valuable I had, and that I don't have guns. The death was voided. I thought about also having the robbery voided, but there were quickly so many people involved, including LSSD and the security company, all who had responded to my character's panic button alert. I decided not to.

This group also started to go down the path of offensive RP: "[22:26:55] Cornelius Armstrong says: Wnaa go first on this bitch?

Dean and the people he associates with exist on the server to rob people and cause trouble.

This is not a separate report, this is simply to show that Dean is a poor RPer, and is on the server to cause trouble for people.

I have the evidence, and can provide it to an admin.

Comment: Wait - lol. So, those campus spoiled brats whine about the situation, yet, the whole LS knows, that those good-for-nothings are doing drugs like hell. Any person can see that, unless they are blind. So-- the PD should make daily raids in there and keep them up, until all the drugs are found, which means-- ULSA will be 70-80% more empty, since 20% of the students are clean and deserve to visit an university. The other wannabe students, along with the Gashi-boi, who was in rehab like ten times, should be kicked out of the campus asap.

And, of course, Riley King, is taking charge. Skye Love, Valeria Reyes, Chloe Knight, Riley King - what they have in common? They are the fantastic four of stupidity and idiocy.

Comment: Key Karol, idiot, there's only one guy constantly flames me online for having gone through rehab, and it's you. You're not clever nor are you fooling anyone with your stupid screenname. Maybe do your research and find out I went through drug rehabilitation once several months ago and I'm now clean and have been for a long ass time? I also don't live in the dorms anymore, so stop bringing my name up or I'm gonna file a lawsuit for slander.

Also, educate yourself. Your taxes don't pay for ULSA in the slightest - our tuition fees do. Christ. Your stupidity knows no bounds.

Comment: who is that Karol you speaking about? Seems like a girls name. Well - kudos to him for standing up against an adict, former or no, and a loser in life, generally. Half of LS knows that you were in rehab and are an textbook definition of an idiot, who got arrested in the G6 riots et cetera. If you do idiotic stuff and wind up in the media - it is your own fault, aint it?

It is quite funny how you slander that Karol person in your post, if it even is the one and only crackhead, Gashi (which I can not be sure of). And then whine about him slandering you. The drugs have taken its toll, as it seems. Now, go back to your mommah and cry to her.

Stop being afraid of losing your liaisons and get out there reporting on government mistakes (prison, police brutality)

This is also part of the reason I left.

Properly RPd investigative journalism is very time consuming. Interviews, research, reaching out to corroborating witnesses, written requests for information from within the government body/organization, establishing the provenance of any evidence you obtain, speaking to LSNN's legal department about the article before it goes to print, seeking official comment, writing it, editing it, seeking comment from your editor, and re-editing....

When you're too cozy to a department, it makes it difficult for LSNN's journalists to commit IC to unbiased investigative reporting of that department. It also means OOC that I'd have serious second thoughts about even commencing the effort if there was a real risk - after I'd done everything right - that the article was going to be kept back from print just to preserve relationships.

Sure, preservation of those relationships is fun "backroom deals" RP for LSNN management and the department liaisons, but it's potentially chilling RP for the journalists putting in the hours to write your articles.

My experience was before @YB was there, though. It might have changed. 🙂

The only other suggestion I'd make is that, if you haven't already, you really need to set up quality control in your editorial division. "Groove Street" should never have gotten through.

Aside from that, I like the level of activity you all now have.

  10. I know little about illegal RP, so I can't say which I prefer? I don't have the excitement of shooting someone, selling drugs, getting into fights, tagging something, arguing with people, getting into car chases, robbing someone...

But I do have the time to maintain a consistent life routine, and from that foundation I can branch out into more creative things. Including developing my character's beliefs and spirituality.

I think illegal roleplay might take more planning especially if you want to portray something that you have very limited knowledge on.

I respectfully disagree with this. Researching, setting up, and running a legitimate business, employing staff, finding ways to keep your staff engaged, finding ways to keep yourself interested, finding ways to improve RP within and outside the business; I suspect this takes as much planning as most illegal things do.
