  10. I wouldnt be apposed to seeing a couple ads on facebrowser tbh what makes it so costly, the data held? And i'm not against the pro packages, just the boosting pages seems to be the best for advertising some things but it's plagued with modded tiddies or just a characters face.. doesn't seem the place for it. If it's the data held then maybe consider a wipe of some posts? I know there must be countless images and shit just sitting on inactive accounts
  11. i'll be honest - I didn't bother to research if a similar discussion had been made already but that's pretty surprising if true
  12. So why can't promotion on an IC platform be taken out of what's included in an OOC purchase. There are numerous other benefits you can get that don't put anyone else at a disadvantage in terms of competing that you can buy. I did mention I understand the server requires money so I don't think it's just as plain as you've suggested, sorry.
  13. TL;DR: Facebrowser pro packages should be bought via in-game currency rather than real money. The issue I'm bringing up isn't the pro package as a whole, but the feature of "boosting" pages or posts. The idea is fun but the execution, I think, could use some work. So currently you use IRL money to buy world points, you then spend your world points to buy a package on facebrowser which gives you certain features. This I'm fine with - the server has bills to pay and it's an optional way for people to help out and get something back. I get it. Where I raise my issue is with the boosting posts and pages. The main point of my argument being: Why should someone who has a more disposable income IRL be able to promote things more than someone who cannot, or is not willing to? For me, since it's an In-Character platform, it should be maintained with In-Character money. I understand that the short answer could be so it pays for itself. And where I'm not savvy on the cost of upkeeping a pseudo-social media platform, surely £15 a month to boost 3 posts is a bit steep. I also understand that there are IG means to promote such as ads and it costs nothing to share and re-post things - but I've found far more success when posting a promotion via the boosted post compared to any other way of advertising. Since a player might see an AD to go check out some soundcloud song, and forget about it by the time they come off the game. On facebrowser, you see the song and can click it there and then and be done with it. But then you have these promotions that are in-game companies or whatever being drowned out by people who want to boost selfies. I accept that some people put considerable amounts of time into creating pictures for their characters and want to show it off and get likes and such, but is boosted posts really the place for it? After all it's an In-character platform. Why does someone's selfie get more promotion than someone's company event, because they don't have an IRL income? The feature either needs re-worked or abolished. A better advertisement system should be put in place. There's a "sponsor" box to the side that never has anything in it as there is no clear way on how it works or who to contact. Plus it would just be overlooked by these selfies that plague every front page that have no meaning but to show off a character (which is usually photoshopped or modded so doesn't even look like their character in game.. doesn't that defeat the whole point of having characters as pictures instead of face-claims in the first place?) Those with less money IRL shouldn't have to compete to promote their IC businesses with people who photoshopped cleavage into their characters selfie.
  14. managed to get dlc.rpf files to work by doing what Firesky said. Somewhat limited but if I can learn how to make my own dlc packs I should be good?

  16. anyone have a workaround for rockstar launcher version? would really like to get into modding but my game version is holding me back ?
  17. So when I was going through my application for the server, something irked me. I've only discussed it with one of my friends so could be biased. Therefor I thought i'd open the discussion here; To my understanding the application gives you some random hand-picked scenarios to explain how you would act in such situations. I think it was three all together? Two of mine were dealing with robberies (one at knife-point and the other at gun-point). I understand how these can be slightly different due to threat levels but I found myself repeating myself from the previous scenario - although this isn't my issue. The third scenario I got involved a gun deal. I'm paraphrasing but it said something along the lines of: "A friend gave you some IC knowledge of gun dealers. How would you go ahead and approach them to make a deal" My initial issue was that this sort of scenario only occurs to a select amount of players. I've been a member of LS-RP since 2012 and since moved over here to try it out. In my time there's only been a very small handful of times I've been involved in gun deals - and never was I the main dealer. I have no idea how I would go around approaching something like this simply for the fact I prefer to play a civilian or shy away from leadership roles in criminal factions. I thought this was a little unfair considering it's an illegal act and only players who have select experience would actually have the right way to go about this. In a matter of fact someone such as myself or one of my characters would have no idea how to approach this and probably make a fool of themselves. I depicted this in my answer and got accepted so it could be argued that it is how YOU would approach this situation. But to counter that point; my friend applied and got the same question (I understand that discussing the application process may result in punishment but I hope it can be overlooked in this case). He answered the question to the best of his ability and the person handling his application told him: "Approaching gun dealers which you know of, who don't know you at all, and asking them for guns is not the best approach" Because of this he almost got banned from applying again. Again I may be biased but I've been playing with this person since 2012 and he is more than capable of roleplaying - which is why I think there is a flaw in the application process. So here lies my issue; There seems to be a right or wrong answer for the scenarios. I understand some of them are pretty straight forward in how you should act. But in situations such as the gun deal, not everyone would act the same. Some people who are ignorant to illegal activities would have no idea how to approach that sort of situation. All in all I think either the staff need to come together to discuss how they accept answers as it appears I was accepted for my honesty and my friend was told how to answer the question correctly OR scenarios where a certain type of player may not know how to approach correctly need to be revised. /endrant
