Stones ORGIN The West Side area of Los Sontos has a long history of gang activity, dating back to the 1940s and 1950s with the emergence of Hispanic gangs such as the 18th Street Gang and the Maravilla Gangs. In the 1960s, African American gangs began to form in response to discrimination and poverty in the area. The Black Panther Party, a revolutionary political organization, also had a significant presence in the area and inspired many African American residents to organize and fight for their rights. The West Side Black P Stone Jungle Bloods gang emerged in this context, with O.G. T seeking to provide protection and support for African American residents in the area. The gang was originally called the West Side Pirus, but later changed its name to the West Side Black P Stone Jungle Bloods to reflect its affiliation with the Black P Stone Nation, a out of state based street gang.
