the problem with entry fees is that they can really be a turnoff for some people, resulting in less people getting in, making it even harder for bigger businesses to obtain a profit. Plus it's not that every opening a business always gets the 40k. More often than not they don't reach half the quota.

The issue is that bigger businesses, since they open less often because of how harder they are to open once every necessary employee is available

Hiring in-house further complicates things, since you would have one more person to rely on showing up, which unfortunately it's very rarely the case, and the unlikelyness of opening increases as you have more employees to rely on.

IN the meantime a coffee shop owner can basically open whenever and fully reap the benefits. I believe that businesses that require a bigger effort to operate should get rewarded accordingly.

I get your point but this is the reality of business in the real world too. Owning something that requires a ton of outgoings and coordination is challenging but you can reap higher rewards. On the flip side it's a lot easier to plummet your business into the red. If you treat it as an IC issue it's more than do-able with the right mindset; you shouldn't rely on the fourty thousand bonus to make an income.

  2. I think the, essentially free, $40,000 bonus is already generous enough to any business at the moment. I wouldn't necessarily change it since it seems to be working fine, however if I was to change it I'd suggest a complete nerf to the system in general. This is why bigger businesses that can't afford to profit soley off $40,000 should, and usually do, improvise with entry fee's, making actual brewery connections to supply their alcohol, or choose to just hire everyone in-house instead of recruiting external security.

I'm an illegal role-player though so my opinion only comes from the outside looking in, so take with a pinch of salt.

  3. You'd also complain if half the illegal community was banned, leading illegal roleplay to fold in on itself and therefore more than half of the server activity. It's not the most moral fix to the solution but probably the most logical one. Of course there was probably an ounce of financial investment in this decision from removing a fraction of the playerbase but it's also in our best interest as players for the server to remain as active as possible. If you have the mentality to cheat here anyway, you're more than likely going to continue too and improved systems to catch cheaters are just going to lead to a ban down the line anyway.

Two most likely out comes are:

    A) Cheater continues to cheat and gets banned.
    B) Somebody who was cheating gets a wake-up call and stops.

I'm fine with either of those outcomes.

A forum section to support the development of these concepts would help a lot. Not just for factions only.

I agree, since there's probably people with the extensive knowledge required to kick start certain concepts that for one reason or another just don't have the time or motivation to do it themselves. If they could weigh in their opinions and/or knowledge without creating the concept themselves? That would help players who don't feel confident with the concept to give it a shot if they want too.

this is a problem as old as time. there’s simply not enough female characters who are interested in jail rp for it to be enjoyable. because if they were - they would.

jail/prison rp is one of those things where you can not rely on the admin team or the legal factions to entertain you. it’s completely down to the group of inmates to create the environment they want - and there just isn’t enough inmates.

I agree but I also find that if there is female characters who's roleplayers are interested in this, what would they do? Create it themselves? Sounds like a simple answer to most but with a lot of people, concept creation is not for them. Maybe through lack of confidence, experience or knowledge in the topic. For example, I personally wouldn't mind giving this roleplay a try but I'd need help and guidance in portraying a character in this unfamiliar environment, let alone in creating the concept myself. Then if you're like me and do not want to create the concept, you still may be interested in the concept but unfortunately it doesn't exist.

Most roleplay concepts start when a single person or a small group with extensive interest lay the foundations out for others and it just hasn't happened here yet, for whichever reason. I'd rather see it done right by a group like the before mentioned than done for the sake of it.

I hate this argument. What if extortion RP isn’t for me? Robbery RP? Hell any RP for that matter that I don’t consider fun? Why should I be forced to do it? Can I just choose to bypass it? We’re here to have fun right?

Robbery roleplay is in the moment, so you'd have to finish the scene as per server rules. If you're being extorted and felt like namechanging out of it was an option then fuck it, let them do it. You're not obliged into long term contracts to other peoples roleplay.

We're in a world full of no consequences. Criminals NC to avoid consequences on their characters. Albeit they no longer have that character afterward, it's still stupid and hurts alot of detective and police roleplay in major situations. But honestly, it's not just on criminals with NC abuse. LEO's do it to. Oh, you messed up and got charged with a crime? Go ahead and NC, start back in the same department and continue your work.

In a perfect world, the above would be nice. If you try to NC with an active warrant, you're not allowed to NC. But this isn't a perfect world and the second dude gets a notification "You have an active warrant, you are not allowed to NC". Then boom, they're gonna get rid of all their stuff, and play innocent.

A good argument for NC restrictions, if any needs to be made (which personally I dont think so, sometimes you just have to take some bad), is if you NC and go back to the same faction doing the same thing, there are more harsh punishments involved as you clearly just NC'd to avoid consequences for your character.

People are here to have fun and if jail roleplay isn't for them then why should they be forced to do it? Why should you be forced to continue a character for ANY reason?

  8. imo the server is at a loss (and benefiting) one way or the other. the server houses way too many players for everybody to agree and get along, unfortunately that just how it is. i like things being as realistic as possible yet when I feel I don't get that here, where's the alternative? some want something light hearted but when they find this too serious, what's their alternative? hence the melting pot and constant bickering we get

Why would I be sarcastic? Those are the server rules. No one ever got in trouble for being shot ONCE and not falling down and dying.

If you think that player did something wrong go report him, but you won't win that report, nor should you.

Ironic how you were quick to say the people with bats didn't fear the gun, yet the other play is allowed to take three cracks of a bat whilst smoking a cig, have time to drop his cig and pull his pistol out (all whilst running in circles). There's a difference between not breaking rules and roleplaying something plausible, if you only care about the first then try FiveM voice.

    Fire guide,

But there's a reason most wars are taken OOC.

99.9% of all wars were influenced OOCly and everybody wants to be a killer, it's about upping the scoreboard and not about the roleplay behind it. This used to be different years back, but nowadays? It's about the clips and notoriety.

I don't disagree but that's the point of this guide, trying to influence people to roleplay it out. I don't agree with cutting interactions and externally planning wars but I think it's a bandage solution for the current situation in order to keep faction conflict roleplayed. At the end of the day the only solution is for IFM to take a harder approach on poor portrayal instead of just punishing rule breakers on technicality. Half of what I put in this guide probably should be solid ruling imo and not just advice.

Exactly. +1 for a NPC'd train system. And for those saying it wouldn't work due to lag, just look at the new weapon system where we can attach weapons to players. Attaching a player to the train shouldn't be impossible. It's already coded into the base-game.

It's more the AI mechanics in having it drive by itself. Although not complicated, they eat resources. I assume it's one of the main reasons pets are so expensive too.

I’m trying to follow you it’s just hard to visualize for me since we have fundamental differences in how we look at and experience the property market. Renting actually never occurred to me. I’ve seen it before, but the concept is weird to me. You have to pay weekly, the prices are extortion and often renters are tied to ERP drama. You have no security or foundational basis and require a constant stream of actively generated money. Renting is also incompatible with casual players who aren’t online every day. And “bought” properties, often apartments, are almost always roleplayed as being rented.

So in the hypothetical you can get (some) of your money back but the property you had is gone, so what property are you suppose to buy? When a police officer is killed they can make a new character, they retain their rank and position within the faction. All they have to do is file a namechange, add a background summary of who their new characters is and how they got to their position and you’re ready to go. But now they don’t have anything, don’t have a place to live or whatever. Are they expected to roleplay sleeping at the homeless camp near Textile City?

And what about other people that don’t enjoy the toys legal factions provide for free? People who had a business, or people who just roleplay a civilian or criminal character. What do they do? What’s the purpose of this? Because I could very easily see someone spending 1000+ hours losing everything and just deciding to quit the server instead of spending the months it takes to find, buy and furnish a property. It took me nearly a year to get a property on my old character after losing one, and many others spend around the same time if not more. I can’t wrap my head around the simplicity of “just get a new house lol”, I’m definitely not seeing something you are. Whether it’s availability among properties or something else.

I can't speak on what police officers can and can't do but I'm more than with you. The issue with that isn't anything to do with property or assets, more the fact they're allowed to do that in the first place.

There's plenty of property around, I'm just assuming they aren't what you have in mind. It's a problem that can easily be taken ICly. Sometimes irl you have to settle for an area because others you looked at didn't have anything, or were not what you were looking for. Where you roleplay well this is happening is completely up to you, it doesn't have to be homeless. There's motels you can roleplay living in as you're looking for a place, or say you're staying with a family member until you can find somewhere.

If it took a year, or over, then the problem is with you and your preference of what property you want. You clearly only want the best your character can afford, since I found a property in my factions territory two days after opening it. My friend then got one a floor down, literally days later. Properties are there, its just the lavish ones that are taken. Solving this is a byproduct of my suggestion. You can afford a great house but there aren't any? Someone namechanges and it becomes available. Do you not think that part of the reason certain properties may be so rare is because when people name change, they keep them and sit on them?

A great point was raised earlier of that, you can't transfer your items without a request. So why can you just namechange and keep them? Because it's the same slot?

  13. I think it'd make more sense to just simply add  an NPC'd train, if anything. Firstly I was against this whole idea in general but when you think of the County being so far away ICly, it would give players a much logical IC way of getting to and from.
