21/01/2023 - The Return at the Rockford Dome, and what a pleasure it is to be back. It was certainly a night to remember for the max capacity crowd that walked through those doors after such a long hiaitus for the illustrious venue. It was a night full of excitement and flair, the men and women that stepped into the ocatgon giving the viewers more than their money's worth. With the return of Los Santos' most decorated fighter in Isaac 'The Dragon' Ryu, who would've expected any less? And he certainly delivered in his win over Danny 'Cachorrao' Riberio. A gut-wrenching moment temporarily marred proceedings in the seventh fight of the night between River Boy and Arkell Pitts that saw medical staff stretcher the former out of the octagon to receive care backstage and then shortly after at Pillbox Medical Center, who's now thankfully on the mend. We wish him the speediest of recoveries and send our gratitude to the medical staff in-house and those that attended in order to get him to safety. We've given a full rundown of all of our fights below and hope to see you all at the next one in a month's time. For any inquiries, or to book your box seat in early please contact us via #83111.

Rosalia Avolos vs Pamela 'La Toro' De’Leon

vRRjavP.png

Our first bout and first blood of the evening was drawn by De'Leon in her matchup against Avalos. Both fighters looked a little hesitant in the opening round while feeling each other out, Avalos keeping away from De'Leon’s power and wasting little energy with some limited but accurate strikes. They both managed to secure a round each on the judges scorecards, with Avalos sending De'Leon to the canvas after landing a sweet uppercut that lead us into a penultimate third round that had the crowd on its feet. Pamala gained a second wind, pressurizing Avalos throughout until securing the win thanks to a vicious combination in the last minute.

Esperanza Gonzales vs Flavia Nogueria

GZvcCEG.png

Gonzales and Nogueira both connected with a right hand straight out of the gates, but it was Nogueira who maintained constant forward pressure - leaving no space between the pair with a variety of attacks that welcomed Gonzales into the amateur leagues with a clean takedown. In the second round, Gonzales had a chance to earn a takedown against the cage during a hard fought clinch, but she couldn’t find what she was looking for due to Nogueira's smart defence. She tried another takedown and eventually looked for an ankle lock, but Nogueira again managed to spin free and clamber back up to her feet with ease. Nogueira's flair was on full display, managing a reversal on the ground that saw her gaining top control and the position to follow up with some ground and pound that spelled the end of this fight.

Ethan 'The Eagle' Kurosawa vs Alexei 'Alex' Razdrh

Bngkyst.png

Out of Little Tokyo, Ethan the Eagle Kurosawa, coming face to face with Alex Razdrh in a middleweight showing who entered the octagon off the back of a close fought victory over Nick 'The Madman' Chambers at the Sweathouse on the 7th. It was evident the crowd had its favourite, but Razdrh seemed unphased, grinning from ear to ear and even slapping himself as he waited for the bell in his corner. They both took a round each on the scorecards after an impressive showing, a stand-up, blow for blow fight that saw Razdrh's lip split open in the second. This only seemed to spur him on, battling it out in the third round until landing a swift right hook around Kurosawa's guard that ended this fight and bagged Alexei his second amateur win.

Nick 'Mad Man' Chambers vs Ricky Falcone

Qf3dNDD.png

Both fighters touched gloves, the two LC natives evidently bearing some respect for one another unlike a number of the other bouts we saw on display Saturday night, and we were both off to a quick start with Falcone firing and landing the first clean strike. Chambers recovered quickly, attempting a takedown to no avail after finding his footing. Falcone wrestled free to get himself out of danger and Chambers immediately scrambled to his feet to prevent the tides turning. At the midpoint of the fight, the duo were at loggerheads as they began exchanging blows from distance. Undeterred, Falcone continued to amp up the pressure as fatigue began to settle in for the mad man until it became too much, wearing him down with takedown attempts and shots to the body, managing to secure the win via TKO at the end of the second round with a conclusive side kick to the body. The debutant showed himself to be a real prospect in the division, and many are already predicting big things after an impressive showing.

Bailey 'Big Mouth' Gunnell vs Naoko 'Geisha' Mitsukiri

UR1GgFP.png

Gunnell and Mitsukiri put on an entertaining spectacle for the packed out crowd at the Roundhouse on Saturday night, Naoko doing just about everything she can - except for much damage.
The fight kicked off with some trashtalk from the aptly named Big Mouth Gunnell and Mitsukiri looked strong in the opening minutes of the first round but rarely landed any meaningful strikes or takedowns. Gunnell on the other hand, hit flush every time she threw, securing her win in the second round with a flurry of vicious elbows from the top until the referee was forced to pull her off of Mitsukiri. Many are predicting Gunnell as a future title holder, with very few in the division looking to even come close to her at present.

Crisanto Pereira vs Matisse 'Marq' Marquis

d69ZGiV.png
Pereira wasted no time in getting this bout started, closing the distance between the pair immediately with a number of strikes from close range. It was a very tough fight to call in the opening stages, especially after the duo's last fight that ended in an unprecedented tie at the Sweathouse. From the get-go, Marq didn't rush, he chose each of his shots to perfection, answering each of Pereira's attempts with strikes of his own. Pereira maintained good top pressure, but he wasn’t able to land anything particularly devastating from within closed-guard or find a transition to look for a submission. The well-timed and composed nature of Marisse's approach to this bout really demonstrated his fight IQ, after spotting that Pereira was beginning to tire in the second round, a sudden onslaught saw him hit the canvas and the referee called the win via TKO. This won't be the last time we see these two in the octagon, with many expecting to see a trilogy between these two incredibly talented fighters.

Leslie 'River Boy' Gunnell vs Arkell Pitts

5oEnNMX.png

This one was labelled as a grudge match from the offset, and that's certainly what we got in this bout that ended on a sour note. There’s no question that Gunnell’s chin was tested, as Pitts landed a number of heavy blows while navigating Gunnell’s busy offense. The crowd favourite "River Boy" struggled to keep up with Pitts' pace from the opening round, his hands behind the back stance not working in his favor to confuse the latter. He chipped away relentlessly, giving Gunnell no respite while stalking him around the octagon before landing a devastating spinning heel kick that knocked Gunnell out cold in the second round, securing a win that'll be remembered for some time. There was genuine concern for River Boy's safety after medical staff had to attend and stretcher him out, but we've since heard he's on the mend and will no doubt be back for vengeance sooner rather than later.

Isaac "THE DRAGON" Ryu vs Danny ""CACHORRAO"  Riberio

hb0ubyc.png

Isaac "The Dragon" Ryu and Danny "Cachorrao" Riberio met in the Octagon for the first time, giving Riberio a big opportunity to go against the greatest fighter to ever enter the Roundhouse. Ryu, as is his signature, flew out of the gates and connected with Riberio's jaw a mere few seconds into the fight, but Riberio was able to use his movement and unpredictable strikes to try and fend off the champ in a well-fought first round that ended with him coming out on top with an impressing showing of his Thai Clinch control and a series of elbows. "Cachorrao" connected some clean strikes along the way, trying to use his longer reach to his advantage but Ryu was relentless and his superior takedown defence was on full show, giving him no space to keep him at bay. The second round was quick and easy for Ryu, who lived up to his legendary status by ending the fight with a wild lunging side-kick to push Riberio against the cage, sending a spinning elbow while exiting the clinch that landed flush and ended this fight in an abrupt knockout win.

02/11/2023 - The grand re-opening of the refurbished Sweathouse had everything in place to be some spectacle, and boy did it deliver. We had six action-packed fights on the card between the best of our amateur fighters, which kicked off with two necomers in Damian "Damage" Phillips versus Tristan Hall. It gave us a great glimpse at the talent we've got coming through the ranks, both showing that win or lose this won't be the last we see of either of them. It was followed by two familiar names and faces in Naoko "Geisha" Mitsukuri and Rosalia Avalos, who put on a real show for all in attendance. We then witnessed a first proper showing for Louvell "Fantom" Cevon who competed in the recent co-host event at Kuan-Ti gym in Textile, facing up against Ethan "Eagle" Kurosawa who was out there with a point to prove. Shortly after, we witnessed the hugely talented Crisanto Periera face up against the unpredictable Daniel "Cachorrao" Riberio who gave us a very even match up. In our co-main event, the infamous Bailey "Big Mouth" Gunnel faced up against the well-rounded Flavia Nogeuira, two polar opposites in terms of their approach who put on a fantastic display for the sell-out crowd. You would've thought that would be enough, but it was all just a lead up to the main event between Razdrh and Marquis, which was evidently the main attraction given the crowd's uncontainable excitement throughout. It ended with a scene nobody present would've hoped for, which we'll touch on below.

Damian "Damage" Phillips VS Tristan Hall

Our first bout of the night started between Damian "Damage" Philips, standing at five foot ten inches and representing Alta Street, Los Santos. Whereas his opponent in Tristan Hall, comes in at at five foot eleven and hails from Vespucci. The first round started with Phillips bobbing and weaving to set up a nice counter hook onto Hall's chin, who managed to prevent an early upset by returning with one of his own. The pace then slowed a little from there, either fighter being a bit more cautious until Phillips managed to land a few combinations on Hall, ending the round with a clean uppercut to the ribs which saw him hit the canvas.

In the second round, Hall came out swinging, the change of tactic seemed to catch Phillips off guard initially but that proved to be only temporariy. He responded by connecting flush with a right hook around Hall's guard that saw him fall for a second time in a row to provide Damage with his first amateur victory with Bellicose MMA, a proud moment for the newcomer.

Naoko "Geisha" Mitsukuri VS Rosalia Avalos

Our regulars will be more than familiar with these two names, Naoko "Geisha" Mitsukuri, born in a rural part of Japan, who mixes the lessons of her people and culture into an impressive all around fighting arsenal. Her opponent, a sensational fighter by the name of Rosalia Avalos - a judo master in her own right with an amazing ground game. In the first round, Mitsukuri was looking to connect with a hook on Avalos right away but her movement around the octagon made that difficult, instead catching Mitsukuri with a quick hook to the side herself. Mitsukuri manages to swiftly dodge the next, landing one of her own that saw Avalos stumble before hitting the deck without breaking the Geisha even breaking a sweat.

Avalos continues stalking the octagon, rarely standing still for more than a second or two which aided her to land a clean uppercut through Naoko's guard. Unfortunately for Rosalia, this only seemed to spur her on and the duo began trading blow for blow which brought on some fatigue for the latter, giving Mitsukuri a perfect chance to take her down with a quick jab-cross combination that landed about as cleanly as you could ask for and brought about her win by TKO. Naoko'll be glad to have put her last fight behind her, could we be seeing a rematch between her and "Big Mouth" in the near future?

Louvell "Fantom" Cevon VS Ethan "Eagle" Kurosawa

Cevon, touted as a wonderkid by some, standing at six foot two, two hundred and five pounds, all the way from Haiti. His opponent, another familiar face in Ethan "Eagle" Kurosawa who stands at six foot one and one hundred and eighty-five pounds, looking for vengeance after his last bout and an interesting challenge due to his unique Thai fighting style. The fight begins, Cevon's head movement allows him to easily slip the first throw, then brushing off Kurosawa's attempt at a leg takedown. Evidently Cevon's done his homework and is aware of his tactics, he keeps a tight grip on the mat and does everything he can to avoid ending up on the ground. Cevon kept showing an excellent takedown defense which allowed him to land a massive right hand that stunned Kurosawa and sent him crashing down in a heap. An impressive showing in the first round, from two fighters that know each other so well from training together at the esteemed Yogarishima gym in Little Seoul.

In the secnd round, Kurosawa is takes up more of a defensive stance, trying to keep Cevon on the back foot. Cevon is having absolutely none of it, waiting to pounce as soon as an opening presents itself. As the fight opens up, he sees his opportunity and starts piling the pressure on Kurosawa, landing another barrage of strikes that knocked the Eagle out of the sky and crashing back down to earth in the second round to decide our winner.

Daniel "Cachorrao" Riberio VS Cristano "Cris" Pereira

Weighing in at one hundred and seventy-five pounds, Daniel "Cachorrao" Riberio, all the way from Salvador in Brazil. He's made quite the name for himself thus far, easily recognized by his lightning speed and signature submission holds. His opponent coming in at around 30 pounds heavier at two hundred and five from the Philippines, Crisanto "Cris" Pereira. A fighter known for his flair and natural skill, looking to reclaim his spot as one of the top fighters in the division after his loss to Marquis a few weeks ago. In the first round, Pereira didn't waste any time, going for a strike right after the bell. Riberio started to march forward more aggressively in response, a straight left from Pereira followed up by a body kick would follow as Riberio then steps in to attack and gets stunned by a quick left hand. Pereira follows up with a devastating head kick that sends him crashing towards the cage just before the buzzer.

Pereira doesn't stop with strikes in the second round, looking to make amends for the first and showcases some impressive work to get stuck in and press Pereira up against the side of the cage. Both fighters found themselves with their backs to the wall at some stage in this fight, and this time it was Riberio's turn to take a fall as the onslaught from Pereira continued until he did exactly that. The third rounds started fast, Pereira takes a quick jab from Riberio before then catching an elbow in response, he shows some intuition by landing a side kick that was somehow shrugged off with little regard, and it seemed to be where the tide began to turn. Riberio found his feet and rhythm, wearing Pereira down towards the end of the round until he spotted an opening, and boy did he take it, feigning a jab before landing a straight right that saw Riberio come out as winner by TKO.

Bailey "Big Mouth" Gunnell VS Flavia Nogueira

For our second women's bout, one who lives true to her name and never ceases to back up her words - Bailey "Big Mouth" Gunnell. Having recently put pen to paper with Bellicose, hopes are high for the Paleto Bay resident who nobody's even come close to stopping so far. Her opponent, another fierce contender who lets her fighting do all the talking, Flavia Nogueria. She's coming off the back of a big win over Esperanza Gonzales at the Rockford Dome on the 21st which really put her in the limelight.

The first round starts with Nogueira moving around the octagon, landing an elbow to kick of proceedings before using her reach to toss a jab in an attempt to keep her opponent at bay. Gunnell stays out of reach and focused, shooting for a takedown right away that gives Nogueira no breathing room as she manages to gain full mount to dish out a ground and pound which resulted in her bagging the first round in brutal fashion.
Nogueira tries to keep her distance again, moving around the octagon and waiting for an opening to try and set up a combination but the fatigue already looked to be settling in. Gunnell was having none of it, finding a clinch and bringing Nogueira down after succeeding with a leg sweep. She kept plugging away on the mat, eventually transitioning to lock in a tight armbar to find victory through submission after a hard fought second round for both of these promising fighters. Gunnell's reign of terror continues, is there anyone in the division that can stop her?

Matisse "Marq" Marquis vs Alexei "Alex" Razdrh

For our penultimate main event we saw the 6ft tall and 163lbs Razdrh hailing from Serbia who was entering off the back of two impressive wins to maintain a 2-0 record so far coming up against a fighter who lets it all hang out come win or loss. The slightly taller Marquis coming in at six foot and three inches while weighing in at 175lbs! The Frenchman doesn't care for politeness as he bashes his opponents into submission, recently besting Pereira in their second bout after an equally fought draw. Neither fighter wasted any time finding their feet, Alexei began raining blows as Matissee stuck to keeping distance and choosing each strike precisely. This precision would prove to make the difference, the French wonderkid connected flush with a fierce elbow that saw Razdrh take a tumble in the first round and score Marquis the points.

The second round began much like the first, Alexei attempting a leg sweep early on that nearly caught Marquis off guard entirely but he bounced back with a vicious jab that set up for a follow up straight with his right. Alexei's guard initially looked impenetrable, his chin tucked firmly as his arms soaked up most of what the Frenchman had to offer. But over time, that resolute guard began to show cracks and it took a toll. The arms dropped, and Marquis' blows onslaught showed no signs of relenting. After several heavy blows to the head, Razdrh collapsed to the canvas which signalled the end to this fight by KO. The conclusion was overshadowed by concerns for Razdrh's wellbeing as medics entered the octagon and began administering first aid, before he was then transported to Pillbox Hill. As we wait for an update on his condition, we ask that everybody prays for a speedy recovery.

11/03/2023 - The long awaited reopening of the Muscle Gymnasium had fighters and viewers alike excited to see what the venue had in-store, and given the feedback of the venue thus far, it certainly delivered. We once again had six thrilling fights for viewers to sink their teeth into, with some familiar names making an appearance to showcase exactly why they're the best this fine city has to offer. We'll waste no time in giving you the rundown of each of our fights below, but first we'd like to tease our next event on the horizon... set to be based on the beachfront in Vespucci at the end of this month. Over a two day period of nothing but entertainment, MMA fans will bear witness to the crowning of a champion in our women's division and another title defence for the renowned Isaac Ryu. Keep your eyes peeled for more information, you won't want to miss this one.

Derrick "Koi" Chou vs Damian "Damage" Phillips (2-0)

Round 1: Phillips looked good in the early stages, rarely standing still, which made it difficult for Chou to find any rhythm. He ended up catching Chou with a clean hook midway through the first round that backed the champion up against the cage. However, Chou was able to recover quickly after breaking free in order to go on the offensive, managing to turn the tables and pin Phillips against the cage and land some solid shots inside, then managing a takedown in the closing moments.

Round 2: Chou once again established the upper hand, utilizing his striking prowess to outscore Phillips and secure the win. Chou was able to control the pace and range of the fight, making it difficult for Phillips to mount a successful offense and remain on the back foot throughout. Chou also displayed his dominance in both the clinch and on the ground throughout both rounds, which all accumulated to his victory as he ticked all the boxes, claiming his first win under Bellicose after a tough first fight against Daniel Ryu at our last event on the 25th.

Didac "Coyote" Fraga vs Thomas "Lil Tommy" Kimura (2-0)

Round 1: Coyote was aggressive from the start of the fight, shooting for a takedown which was unsuccessful due to Kimura using the cage as a preventative measure. Fraga was patient in the clinch, attempting to tire Kimura with shots to the body so he could then drag him away and attempt a takedown again. Unfortunately, he was unable to transition the fight to the ground and the duo faced up again after slipping free. When Kimura succeeded with a takedown of his own, Fraga managed to take up a turtle position and roll into an impressive triangle that enabled him to land a flurry of strikes with his back to the mat. While Kimura initially managed to avoid a stoppage by slipping free, when the duo reset Fraga capitalized during the stand-up and sent his opponent onto his own back after a well timed combination that won him the round.

Round 2: Kimura was able to compose himself again and improve his defensive game to prevent Fraga from taking control as easily as he did in the first round. However, Fraga was unrelenting, the improved defense doing little to keep the Coyote at bay. It all accumulated to the conclusive moment of the fight, after getting the back, Fraga managed a viscious suplex, and this time he snakes his forearm right under Kimura’s chin while on the ground, forcing a quick tap that saw him victorious for the second time in recent weeks. With a 2-0 record so far, the Coyote's certainly making a name for himself.

Pamala De'Leon vs Flavia Nogueira (2-1)

Round 1: Nogueira was able to take control of the match early on by landing a nice series of punches and then quickly transitioning to a dominant position on the ground after a takedown by landing a number of hooks to Deleon's body. This allowed Nogueira to control the pace of the first round. De'Leon was unable to roll or slip free from the position to defend against any potential submission attempts and wound up tapping after an arm bar.

Round 2:  De'Leon worked away from range with a series of leg kicks, as both fighters exchanged strikes with intent. De'Leon was able to recover from any setbacks in the first round and perform more effectively in the second. Her tactic to keep the distance paid dividends, out-striking Nogueira to win the round on points.

Round 3: Both fighters started to show signs of fatigue. De'Leon attempts to close the distance this time around in order to land a decsivie blow, but Flavia battles valiantly to stay in the fight. Unfortunately, De'Leon was going nowhere and managed to capitalize on Flavia's fatigue and land a clean rear hook that saw the latter go tumbling towards the mat and enable her opponent to win by KO.

Nathan "El Chupacabra" Nevarez vs Ricky Falcone (2-1)

Round 1: Falcone started the fight aggressively by rushing into a takedown and attempting a double underhook position on the mat. After sliding through into a mount, he followed up with an elbow strike, but Nevarez was somehow able to break free and take the fight back into a stand-up position. After trading blows, Nevarez secured a double leg takedown of his own, but unlike his opponent, he maintained control and looked to wear him out. Falcone attempted to stand up after two minutes, but Nevarez's heavy pressure kept him grounded and prevented him from getting back to his feet, he successfully secured the first round win by points.

Round 2:  Falcone was able to recover from his difficult start in the first round by adjusting his strategy in the second and prevent taking the fight to the mat. Falcone began to use leg kicks to challenge Nevarez and create openings for his striking. He was able to slow down Nevarez's movement and disrupt his balance, setting himself up to land a few powerful blows and gain the win via the judges scorecards.

Round 3: The last round did not go as well for Falcone. Nevarez bounced back and was able to effectively counter Falcone's aggressiveness by closing the distance and jabbing away to set himself up for follow-ups in order to tire his opponent. While Falcone was able to recover and win the second round by adjusting his strategy, Nevarez was able to adapt to those adjustments in the third round and come out on top to secure another impressive win. Nevarez is beginning to show just how intelligent a fighter he is, whatever's thrown at him so far, he's responded to, and a win against Falcone sets him up for the big stage.

Naoko Mitsukuri vs Bella Ramirez (2-0)

Round 1: In the opening seconds of the fight, Mitsukuri charged forward to attempt some heavy blows, trying to catch Ramirez off guard and gain an early advantage in the fight. However, Ramirez was able to put up a strong defense and even land some solid counters of her own. Despite this, Mitsukuri was able to maintain her focus and eventually land a takedown on Ramirez, which secured her the win on points.

Round 2: After a competitive first round, Mitsukuri stepped it up a notch and took over proceedings. Her wrestling prowess and overall relentlessness never allowed Ramirez to get a foot in, and the combination of damage and fatigue slowly nullified Ramirez. By the end of the fight, she was barely able to fight back, and when she did, she looked off-balanced and simply worn down. Mitsukuri secured the win via TKO, capitalizing on her opponents exhaustion and lack of guard by landing a flurry of unchallenged blows.

Bailey "Big Mouth" Gunnell vs Rosalia Avalos (2-0)

Round 1: Avalos was trying to maintain distance from Gunnell at the start of the fight to avoid getting hit, seemingly hesitant and aware of Gunnell's explosive nature. However, when Avalos did get close enough to throw punches, Gunnell was able to block most of them. Unfortunately for Avalos, she made the mistake of over extending that left an opening for Gunnell to counter with a lead hook, which ultimately resulted in Avalos being knocked down before the end of the first round.

Round 2:  The second round kicked off with a fast-paced exchange and gave the onlooking crowd a real spectacle for the final round of our main event, with both fighters trying to fend off attacks and strike simultaneously. Midway through the final round, Gunnell was able to successfully take Avalos down to the canvas and swiftly transition into an impressive triangle choke, which eventually lead to Avalos begrudgingly tapping out, signaling her eventual defeat in the match. This means Gunnell's still yet to lose a match, or round so far in her Bellicose career. It feels like we say this every event, but as things stand, it's difficult to see anything getting in her way en-route to her inevtiable title challenge. Rosalia on the other hand has shown she has absolutely no fear of jumping in the octagon with anyone, growing as a fighter every time she steps into the octagon. It won't be long before her luck changes, and we can't wait to see what she has in store for us next time around.
