Statement Regarding The State v. Vernon Fitzgerald
Date: 11/18/2023

By: Frank O'Shea

The Republican Party of San Andreas has been following the recent incident where two officers of the Los Santos Police Department were murdered. The District Attorney's office filed a motion to dismiss the charges against Vernon Fitzgerald, the alleged double homicide suspect. Commissioner David Kavanaugh was quoted as saying, "[...] I am familiar with the warrant the arrest was based off of - It had ample evidence attached to it which wasn't blatantly attached to the arrest report." After a convention of the Executive Committee, the Republican Party of San Andreas expressed its deep concerns with regard to the recent motion by the District Attorney's office.

On October 2, 2021, Senate Resolution 17, introduced by Senator Adrian Rossi, was published. This resolution came after a massive wave of petitions from law enforcement officers around the county called for the then-District Attorney to be held accountable for their constant dropping of criminal cases loaded with sufficient evidence beyond a reasonable doubt. Shortly after, the incumbent District Attorney resigned while maintaining her innocence.

The deceased LSPD officers, like all members of law enforcement who have lost their lives in the line of duty, dedicated themselves to ensuring the safety and well-being of our diverse communities. Their sacrifices should never be in vain, and as a civil society, we must do better for them. Our support is entirely thrown behind our law enforcement and first responder communities and remains unwavering. Members from the Republican Party, its Executive Committee, and the Senate caucus will keep a close eye as this matter progresses.

Signed,
