Somali—Tunisian Connection is a very tight-knit community of mixed people, mostly Africans, but there are a few whites among them. Members of this community in the county are spread around Marina Drive where they settled 5-10 years ago, but some have preferred not to be very public because of racism in the area. Because of living in Somalia & Tunisia, they preferred to migrate to the United States for a better living, a major problem of any poor country. From the states where they come from, most of them were involved in piracy, arms and drug trafficking, they often pillaged boats carrying various goods from the seas/oceans. Piracy off the coast of Somalia occurs in the Gulf of Aden, Guardafui Channel and Somali Sea, in Somali territorial waters and other surrounding areas. It was initially a threat to international fishing vessels, expanding to international shipping since the consolidation of states phase of the Somali Civil War around 2000. After the collapse of the Somali government and the dispersal of the Somali Navy, international fishing vessels began to conduct illegal fishing in Somali territorial waters. This depleted local fish stocks, and Somali fishing communities responded by forming armed groups to deter the invaders. These groups, using small boats such as skiffs and motorised boats, would sometimes hold vessels and crew for ransom. This grew into a lucrative trade, with large ransom payments. The pirates then began hijacking commercial vessels. With the region badly affected by poverty and government corruption, there was little political motivation at the local level to deal with the crisis. Large numbers of unemployed Somali youth began to see it as a means of supporting their families. Marina Drive (Trailer Park) — Zancudo River In previous years, the southern part of Zancudo River began to be increasingly populated by black people (mostly migrants from African countries). LSSD has repeatedly reported the increase in narcotics trafficking on the N-W side (Marina Drive Trailer Park) to be a hotspot for illegal activity. The majority of people in the area of this Trailer Park are between the ages of 17-30. In both countries, piracy is quite a big problem, in Tunisia there is even a party called "The Tunisian Pirate Party" which supports piracy ideologies, even today. So, these two camps have found a common goal, and have formed a community in LS County. The faction, Somali-Tunisian Connection wants to portray life in a Trailer Park with mixed people, predominantly black people, as realistically, the group is part of a piracy offshoot.
