  1. Originally designed to store drinking water, Mirror Park underwent a transformation in 1892 when the adjacent park underwent landscaping. The 1920s brought a surge in construction, introducing new homes and community centers to the nearby streets. However, by the mid-1950s, "white flight" took root in Mirror Park, fueled by real estate brokers who stoked fear among white families about declining property values with racial integration. The demographic makeup of Mirror Park changed significantly, with the black population increasing from 5 percent in 1940 to 40 percent in 1959. In the early 1960s, despite white political control, there were signs of political progress within the black community. By the 1980s, Mirror Park gained a "ghetto" image, marked by a 10 percent unemployment rate among black men, nearly twice the national average. This economic downturn led to a rise in crime and the emergence of black street gangs, including the the Original Valley Hoover Criminals (OVHC) / the Original Valley Hoover Crips (OVHC) a gang located on the North East side of Los Santos, San Andreas between the 2600 block of Mirror Blvd, and Nikola Ave. They're name was inspired by the Hoover Criminals (HC), a south central gang that originated in the 1960s and were originally known as the Hoover Groovers. The Hoover Groovers, have been around long before the formation of the "Crips" gang that formed in the early 70's in south central Los Santos. The Original Valley Hoover Criminals (OVHC) formed in the late 70's and consisted of several individual street gangs around Mirror Park, the most known being the West Mirror Criminals who operated on West Mirror Drive and Bridge Street. The gang in a whole chose to identify them selves by wearing sport apparel of the Houston-Astros, a major league baseball team with orange as its dominant uniform color. This inspired the Hoover Criminals (HC) to choose orange as their identifying color, and all the gangs who were underneath its moniker did the same. This was until of the founding members of the Hoover Groovers, younger brother was murdered and the majority of the accusations were blamed on the Davis Crips. The Hoover Groovers and the Davis Crips held a meeting at the BJ Smith Recreational Center located on Carson Ave, between Forum Drive and Innocence Blvd. Both gangs eventually formed an alliance and blamed the Roy Lowe Boys for being responsible for the death. Which, resulted in the leader of the Roy Lowe Boys being nearly beaten to death at a house party in South Los Santos. By the mid-1980s, due to their alliance with the Davis Crips, the Hoovers dropped the Groovers from their name and adopted the Crips (Hoover Crips). This caused the Original Valley Hoover Criminals in Mirror Park to essentially go defunct, the West Mirror Criminals, Valley Crims, and Parkside Criminals didn't agree with converting to crips and decided to form an alliance of their own. This caused back to back gun fights, stabbings ,and drive bys between all four gangs that existed within the imaginary walls of Mirror park. By the mid-90's After gaining the attention of Law Enforcement, almost every leader was stripped from the streets and rotting in prison or murdered. The ones who found a way to survive are the people you call junkies, and or homeless. Fast forward to todays time and you have two gangs that roam the streets of Mirror Park, North Side Crims (NSC) and 3100 Valley Boy Crim (VBC). The NSC once went by "DT," short for "Dirt Town." Consisting of comprising misfortunate kids from the impoverished neighborhood of Mirror Park initially operated as dance group from Nikola Avenue and the surrounding area, DT had three rivals, West Money, Janky Mob, and Far More Evil whom they encountered daily, the rivalry with Far More Evil escalated from "wall banging" to physical fights after the two groups crossed paths at a LTD at the intersection of both turfs. A fight broke out between the members of both groups and after that day fist fights became almost a daily thing. Mirror Park's environment began to engulf them, leading most Dirt Town members to lose interest in school. These troubled youth turned to illegal activities to obtain the material possessions their counterparts already possessed. Car after car, house after house, store after store, the misfit kids of Dirt Town did whatever it took to gain financial stability, albeit with a dual motive of helping those in need at home. Prominent members of DT began to take things more serious as they gained notoriety from local law enforcement, members being arrested for things such as drug trafficking, theft of property, and even murder. Mirror park seemed to be reliving the horrors it once seen in the mid-80's-90's, and the group of misfortunate kids who deprived of it felt the same. After being influenced by the county jail visits, jail calls from active gang members, and gang like activities already being done, and members being shot. The group decided to take things to a new level, they decided to change what they called themselves to "Northside Crims" north deriving from their neighborhood being on the northeast side of the city. And "Crims" from the previous gang that operated in the area, along with influence from a members incarcerated uncle who actively claims to be a "West Mirror Criminal", but has life in prison. They chose to identify themselves by wearing Cincinnati Reds sports apparel, and black rags. The most recent and established group is the 3100 Valley Boy Crim (VBC), which was established sometime in late 2023. Not much is known about this group but its based between Mirror pl and Nikola Ave, information on who created said gang is unknown but it is often referenced to being the sanctioned version of the North Side Crims who still operate in the surrounding areas areas. Their name derives from the past gang Valley Crims (VC) and the 3100 block of Nikola Ave, basically the backside of where the Original Valley Hoover Criminals (OVHC) were once located. Despite being a fairly new gang they have three rival groups at the moment Far More Evil, and the Chinatown Collective. Far More Evil being the "less deadly" beef of the three, as far as the others go blood has been shed and shootings have became the new normal. Both beefs derived from botched robbery attempts on said groups leading to prominent members being shot. Unlike the NSC's, the VBC's have chose to identify them selves by wearing orange rags, and Houston Astros or Baltimore Orioles sports apparel.
