Ace_
For the past few days, I always get some weird "product updater" thingy in my processes. It takes like 400k memory and I have only 4 GB ram so it's way too much. It slows down my PC. I can't even disable it because an error comes up then. It disappears by itself after like a minute, but I don't know how to solve this issue forever, without it showing up every day. Any help regarding this? Thank you in advance. Link to comment
codependency
It's a common PUP, run your anti-virus and see what happens. Link to comment
norrig
As @Serower mentioned it might be a PUP. update.exe is a natural part of Windows Update, however potential malware might name itself update.exe to hide in plain sight. Check with anti virus / anti malware, if you're clean it's just windows update. Link to comment
Ace_
I've ran a free scan with the free version of Malwarebytes and this is what came up: Could it be this? I'll delete this. Link to comment
norrig
Since you downloaded that file yourself it's probably not malware. Riskware means "idk bro this program might be bad, could also be alright" I'm 98% sure the update.exe in your task manager is just plain old windows update. Link to comment
codependency
Try checking active Windows updates, see what's going on. Link to comment
