The criminality issue on this server is quite similar regardless of the location. Take Vespucci for example. IRL you see civilians casually taking a walk on Venice, IG however the only way to take a walk is if nobody's around. Once you get spotted by a gang/crim. char, it's done, game over. You're getting robbed, mocked, bullied, beaten... it is gonna be a verbal or phisical abuse whoever you might be, regardless of your age, color, appearance or time of the day. If you fight back as legal, you either escalate or fail to show fear, if you don't, being targeted is what you're gonna rp over and over, sometimes several times a day. Unless you roll incognito as much as possible in order to avoid being approached. (But then what's the point of being here if you gotta be on your own, trying to avoid players?) I think the problem in general is that criminality is more protected than living legal by the server. As a legal you can't flex a muscle without breaking rules, as illegal you have a lot to chose: (M) - a superkid, human-bunny hybrid on a rocketbmx. Anything is achievable. Anything is possible. Black/hispanic/asian/russian/albanian (something that can be used as a "dangerous stereotype") - say hi or breathe too close to them and they're gonna find a way to shoot/beat/rob you or just make you "their b*tch". Neo nazi - well, nothing much to say about it as the title already sais it all... Just as the County, most beautiful parts of this map that give a great vibe and have amazing RP potential are often locked to the criminal gangs and factions. Sadly this leads to the next issue and that's the number of police officers lately. If you encounter a vehicle pursuit on server peak, at least 10 PD cars would be following, creating a traffic snake. It's good they're trying to keep a balance but sometimes it feels like regular civilians are the minority and therefore their existance and rp is always under presure and at high risk. (I.e. I acted tough /once/ in 5 years of being legal and accepting the b*tch role every time. Yes, I'm in prison since 2 weeks ago for that act. And that's simply because for once I was ahead of the criminals and caught them off guard. So what did they do? Fully voided and went on with their life. They only lost 45 minutes of their life in adminjail. So even when you find a way to be tough IC, where does it lead as a legal char? Back in the b*tch position) Funny fact, I encountered a few outlaws of different type both as kid and as adult in my life. I'm talking about proper dangerous people. I have never ended up in a situation where it got dangerous for me to simply be around. In real life everyone can be a target, ofc, but in general, as long as you behave and don't cross limits you're good. In the contrary, some of them were the nicest people I've encountered even though I'm happy I don't know their full history. Outlaws in real life are usually smarter than the movie stereotype that is generally presented even on rp servers. They care about their integrity and image and know when to take risks and when to behave in public. I fully agree with the post, and I'm one of the players that find this Tom and Jerry playstyle annoying. I miss the quality RP that was once mandatory on GTAW. I feel like there is a huge need of better balance as I rarely encounter authentic civilian RP nowadays. Most legal chars are the ones combating criminality in one way or another. Actually, as I'm writing all this, I got an idea. I'll prove my words in the near future.
