MISSION ROW MASS SHOOTING

Written by Shun Nakamura - 10th June 2023

Mission Rows crime rate has drastically increased over the past months with a large portion of that being violent crimes and vehicle thefts. Just last month Journalists with the Insider were on the scene of a homeless male armed with a knife being challenge by law enforcement to surrender. With the area being so close to the Mission Row Station it begs the question, how brazen are these criminals willing to get? Tonight, we got an answer with what one witness described as "a war" breaking out between two parties, likely opposing gangs. The chaos took place on Vespucci Boulevard just a few hundred meters from the Mission Row Station in the early hours of Saturday morning, law enforcement had taped off the area from Legion Square all the way to the Police Station.

Our boots on the ground counted a total of four fatalities, one of which was an LSPD Officer. A fifth victim was found in critical condition and is believed to have survived the ordeal thanks to the heroic efforts of law enforcement and medical personnel that responded. Deputies from the Sheriff's Department weren't able to say to much since the response was a combined effort from both Sheriff's and Police which complicates things. They were however able to disclose that two parties were engaged in a gunfight and members of the O.S.S. arrived on scene, intervened with lethal force and neutralized the ongoing threats to life that were present before rendering aid to those suffering from gun shot wounds.

When our team first arrived on scene we noticed a heavy PD and SD presence all the way from the Mission Row Station to Legion Square. Bodies were scattered around the street, seeming as if the situation may have spanned a long period of time with a lot of movement, people trying to run perhaps. Most of the bystanders we spoke with were unable to provide much information with most retreating into local businesses and nearby vehicles for shelter. One individual, who didn't want to be named, described the situation as "a war", recounting that he didn't see much but heard "so many shots."
