MAY 2023

𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡ekNIzPm.png

May is Preeclampsia Awareness Month, a month-long communication campaign to raise awareness of this life-threatening hypertensive disorder of pregnancy.

Preeclampsia is a serious condition that can happen after the 20th week of pregnancy or after giving birth. This disorder, however, can occur even before 20 weeks of gestation via fetal-placental disorders and pre-existing maternal diseases. In addition to causing high blood pressure, it can cause organs, like the kidneys and liver, to not work normally.

𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐬

• Excess protein in the urine or other signs of kidney problems
• Decreased levels of platelets in the blood (thrombocytopenia)
• Increased liver enzymes that indicate liver problems
• Severe headaches
• Changes in vision, including temporary loss of vision, blurred vision, or light sensitivity
• Shortness of breath, caused by fluid in the lungs
• Pain in the upper belly, usually under the ribs on the right side
• Nausea or vomiting

Weight gain and swelling (or edema) are typical during healthy pregnancies. However, sudden weight gain or an appearance of edema — particularly in your face and hands — may be a sign of preeclampsia.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, call your primary care physician or your obstetrician immediately!

𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

The best clinical evidence for the prevention of preeclampsia is the use of low-dose aspirin. Your primary care provider may recommend taking an 81-milligram aspirin tablet daily after 12 weeks of pregnancy if you have one high-risk factor for preeclampsia or more than one moderate-risk factor.

With a wider range of medical services and a larger clinic, we have been dedicated to providing quality healthcare to our patients from day one. Your trust and support have been instrumental in our success.

As we move forward, we remain committed to listening to your concerns, treating everyone with equality, and delivering exceptional healthcare.

JUNE 2023

𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡Cord_Blood_Awareness_Month.png

Cord Blood Awareness Month is a campaign held annually in July to raise awareness about the importance of cord blood donation and storage. This awareness month aims to educate expectant parents, healthcare professionals, and the general public about the potentially life-saving benefits of cord blood stem cells.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐬 𝐈𝐭 𝐔𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐫

Cord blood is found in the umbilical cord and placenta after a baby is born. It contains valuable hematopoietic stem cells that can treat various diseases, including certain types of cancer, blood disorders, and immune system disorders.

Cord Blood Awareness Month also emphasizes the need for a diverse and robust public cord blood inventory to ensure that a wide range of patients can find suitable matches for transplantation. Increasing awareness about cord blood donation can help save lives and improve medical treatments for individuals in need.

OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW!

Cattaneo Obstetrics & Gynecology (Cattaneo Women's Health) has gone through a tragic event of a pipe burst and water damage not long ago, but with a reliable team of contractors, the practice was able to recover rather quickly! Although it was a quick reconstruction, Dr. Cattaneo supervised the renovation and made sure that everything is done the correct way, so that the practice can avoid disasters like these in the future!

Cattaneo Women's Health, the private medical practice, also got funding from the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology (ABOG) and was given a brand new Mammography machine, which means that now, Dr. Cattaneo and her staff can provide further screening options and preventive care to every patient in need!

AUGUST 2023

𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡
breastfeeding_month.png
Just like in August 2022, this year is also National Breastfeeding Month. In our post in 2022 (National Breastfeeding Month 2022), we mentioned why breastfeeding is beneficial to both mother and her baby, this year, we are continuing the discussion about whether or not it is an old-fashioned way of giving nutrition to our babies.

𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬

𝟏, 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠
From the journal "Pediatrics": If 90% of families breastfed exclusively for six months, nearly 1,000 infant deaths could be prevented each year.

𝟐, 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡
Research shows breastfed babies have a lower risk of maladies (indisposition) including asthma, ear infections, diabetes, and respiratory problems.

𝟑, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐦
Referred to as "liquid gold' for its deep yellow color, colostrum's the thick first milk that you make during pregnancy and just after birth. It is rich in both nutrients and antibodies to protect your baby from infection.

𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐦'𝐬 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡

• 𝐌𝐨𝐦𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩
Research shows that breastfeeding moms actually get more sleep! You don’t have to go to the kitchen to prepare a bottle. When you breastfeed, your milk is readily available at the right amount and temperature for your baby.

• 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞
Getting out of the house with a new baby can be hard. If you’re bringing the baby with you, your breastmilk is ready when needed. If you’re leaving your baby at home with a caregiver, you can leave a bottle of pumped milk or formula for him to eat. It can be easy to isolate yourself as a new mom, but it’s important to stay connected with family and friends. You can join our group for expecting or new parents to connect with others;

Our line gets a lot of messages in regard to patients trying to book an appointment.
While this is completely alright within our practice, we still prefer our patients to book through our website where they can find the appointment scheduling form ( https://gtaw.link/AppointmentScheduling ), or through their patient appointment booking (( our discord )).

If you, however, are still looking to book an appointment through texting, there is some information we need to collect such as your full name, chief complaint, and whether or not you have been a patient at our practice #CattaneoOBGYN.

SEPTEMBER 2023

𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡

During September we spread awareness about multiple things such as; Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Awareness Month, and is also Sexual Health Month, In this post, this year, we will focus on Menopause.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞

Menopause is a point in time 12 months after a woman's last period. The years leading up to that point, when women may have changes in their monthly cycles, hot flashes, or other symptoms, are called the menopausal transition or perimenopause.

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧

In most women, menopause occurs between the ages of 45 - 55.

𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬

• Your periods happen very close together.
• You have heavy bleeding.
• You have spotting.
• Your periods last more than a week.
• Your periods resume after no bleeding for more than a year.
• Hot flashes.
• Mood changes.
• and more...

𝐈𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐧𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

• Hormone Therapy
• Vaginal Estrogen
• Low-dose Antidepressants
• and more...

Although treatment is available to everyone, you should check in with your obstetrician-gynecologist and ask all kinds of questions, before you would like to choose to treat your symptoms, or not.

Some women don't have any trouble with menopausal symptoms and may even feel relieved when they no longer need to worry about painful periods or getting pregnant. For other women, the menopausal transition can bring hot flashes, trouble sleeping, pain during intercourse, moodiness and irritability, depression, or a combination of these symptoms.

how_to_apply.png

Applications should be sent to [email protected] ((click)) and your Curriculum Vitae (CV) should include the following information:

General Information about you (First Name, Last Name, DOB, POB, etc...)

  • Education History
  • Employment History
  • Letters of Recommendation (if any)
  • Motivational Letter / Letter of Interest
  • ((Unedited Screenshot of your Admin Record))

If you are a student at the University of Los Santos San Andreas, and you are applying for an intern/student nurse position, make sure to follow the correct application on your student portal and mention it in your CV!

(( OOC DISCLAIMER ))

When you are sending in your CV, please take it ICly as if you were applying for a position at a firm/corporation/etc... If you don't have any letter of recommendation, you can either make one up or you don't have to have them at all, however, it would gain you plus points if you had one. A Motivational Letter/Letter of Interest doesn't have to be an essay unless you actually want to put in the effort, which would again, gain you plus points. Please do research before creating a character, whether it is your main or alt.

We strive for quality roleplay, but also to have fun on the server and try to reinvent ourselves all the time if we notice a decline in patients, players, and general interest of people wanting to roleplay with us.

DO NOT APPLY IF you are sensitive to Women's Health roleplay, as some people might find it disturbing. If surgery, primary care, and more roleplay-related things bother you or are sensitive for you, do not apply. Also do not apply if you have ill intentions, which would bring not only you but us as a practice into admin trouble.

Women's Health roleplay is very intimate, and we try our best to normalize it on the server so that people who would like to roleplay different types of illnesses, disorders, surgeries, and pregnancies... have the opportunity to do so at our practice as we offer as realistic roleplay as possible.

If you are new to Medical RP and would like to start off at a smaller practice at first before applying to a faction like Hope Health Group, Pillbox Hill Medical Center, or the Los Santos Fire Department, we encourage you to do so, as we are more than happy to teach you the basic ropes of Medical RP, as well as we offer many many guides and experience, even if only in the entire aspect of OB/GYN, it is still considered Medical RP. We also will not stop you from working at our practice part-time if you choose to work at PHMC full-time. The sky is the limit, and we want you to have fun.

Apply if you would find OB/GYN RP interesting, apply if you would like to get started in Medical RP at a smaller place at first, or apply if you already know the deal and are experienced in Medical RP, and just would like to support a small office. We're all here to have fun, not to compete. ♥
