Spoiler

The curtains were closed shut, a large amount of shuffling being recognized as “Push” was said by various nurses while one nurse prepared for the baby to arrive. It was the 25th of March, 1995, at 5am in the morning, in Cork, Ireland. The weather portrayed as being clear of rain, instead with a bright, and beaming sun beating against the pulled off curtains. Grainne took a heavy breath, before pushing one final time. Silence shortly followed, before being rudely interrupted with the sound of a baby crying. At the time of 05:12 in the morning, Krystal Rosemary Nithercott was born to two loving parents, the mother by the name of Grainne Nithercott, and the father by the name of Callum Quinn. Grainne lay there on the bed, the regret shrieking in her body. The female had consistently abused drugs throughout the course of her pregnancy, the guilt lingering with every action she did. The doctor passed Krystal to Grainne, gesturing for her to hold her against her chest. Grainne’s ignorance at first halted this from happening, but she did give in. Holding her creation, her first daughter in the comfort of her arms. Krystal’s striking green eyes blossomed in the view of Grainne, they attracted her in. Looking her eyes reminded on how Krystal was conceived, the disappointment of her parents, her siblings, her family.

Grainne was in a relationship with a guy whom she had a great fear of due to his drug dealer reputation. This was Callum Quinn, the man who introduced the mother to drugs. She felt trapped, she couldn’t escape, but love made her stay. The belief that she was actually in love kept her there. It stopped her from leaving, like a chain around her ankle. It was on one night that Callum was extremely drunk. A drunk Callum meant that Grainne could receive some affection, or recognition by him. Callum presented the idea of sex, which Grainne carelessly thought was amazing. He was beginning to appreciate her, and thus they engaged in intercourse. Krystal became the outcome. Once Grainne discovered that she was pregnant at two months, Callum’s opinion weren’t presented by vocal ways, but instead physical. A slap to the face after calling her a worthless s**t prevented Grainne to leave. Callum never said why he was so against the idea of a baby, but it was clear that he did not want that. It was clear that he didn’t even love Grainne as she loved him. In the toxic relationship, she stayed cause she had nowhere else to go. Krystal’s smile was prominent on her face as she looked in her mother’s eyes. Krystal’s name was decided right after her arrival.

Without the assist of her mother and father, only her sister Lizzie was there for Grainne. Raising a child basically by herself was hard, but she had to do everything for Krystal. Krystal as baby presented herself as being the cute, and bubbly babe that would laugh at almost anything, even though she didn’t even understand any of their words yet. She shortly started crawling which was a mess. Chaos is what Krystal made. She’d crawl to things that made her curious, even if they were dangerous. Her crawling later gave Grainne’s sister Lizzie a sign that they should most likely teach her how to walk. Assisted by each other, Grainne and Lizzie began to teach how to walk. It was a sight, a humorous sight in fact. But, odd enough, Krystal was a fast learner for a child. The place where both Grainne, and Callum stayed was not a place for a child, a horrible smell, dirty dishes, a bed on the floor. Krystal’s childish baby ignorance was enough to even stopped her from being unhappy. Grainne stayed at home during the day, and Callum worked a legal job in the day. During the day, Grainne would spend her time watching TV shows while hanging with Krystal. Krystal at such a young age of 2 loved to stay with her mother, because she always was taught something new. Grainne had already been teaching Krystal had to talk, and use to potty. Krystal was always put to bed early, before Callum got home because he had a extreme dislike of taking care of a child after a long day of work. Bullsh*t is what that was.

When Grainne left, he’d call his druggie friends, then get some girls over. Krystal rarely slept during the night, but in the day, she’d sleep like a baby due to the peace, and the safety of her mother. It’d be evident that Grainne had got herself in deep shit once again when Callum began to argue with her. Ironic how all Grainne’s boyfriends are assholes. Grainne was involved in risky business, and so was Callum unadmittedly. Grainne wanted Krystal to be safe that night, therefore she rang her sister Lizzie to take care of Krystal that night. Lizzie was a student, an older sister of Grainne. Krystal loved trips to her aunt’s house because she always got a new toy. But, oddly, this time she didn’t. Krystal was put to bed quite early that night, then Lizzie focused on her homework. Around 1am, a phone call to Lizzie was made. It was the police. Callum had been reported to have overdosed on opium, a man who Krystal didn’t know, and was too young to even comprehend what exactly happened.

Krystal through the years grew up, under the wing of her mother, whom was rather compelling, and loving to the female, yet it soon changed when Aki came on the scene. The mother diverted her attention from her daughter, and instead to the male. The guy was from Nigeria, with a skin tone that was an unfamiliar aspect within the town of Cork. Aki soon redeemed himself in the eyes of the town’s people as he was notably in charge of running several convenient stores, with ‘smashing’ deals as it was evidently put. The smashing was taken quite literally as both Grainne, and Aki conceived Hazel out of their erotic interactions. Krystal was excessively jealous of her sibling due to the prominent father figure in her life, whereas hers wasn’t. It was additionally viewed that Grainne simply cared more about Aki, and Hazel rather than Krystal, even removing herself from any substances altogether with the ‘guidance’ of Aki. However, it was quite the opposite. Grainne was rather obsessed with Krystal, instead of Hazel.

Throughout her academic life, Krystal wasn’t exactly the brightest, quite the opposite. There were points where she was suspected to actually have dyslexia, due to her failing English, however with the aid, and contribution of the teachers, it was overlooked, and overcame - The neglect of her mother, and the desperation to be considered lead to Krystal to do a variety of different things. Krystal evidently ruffled her hair, and touched it occasionally, and often throughout the years, however while at the age of 11, Krystal's hobby of touching her hair became self harm to her. Yes, they had noticed some missing strands in her hair before, however it was of a duration of time when she was 11 that this pushed them to inspect it with a doctor, whom diagnosed Krystal with a minor case of trichotillomania. He stated that during times of stress, Krystal will pull on her hair to relieve pressure, or thoughts. He also stated that in the case of her ever becoming depressed, her trichotillomania might worsen, and even link to it. Note that before her diagnoses at the age of 12, she had attended various doctors who had no idea what trichotillomania was, or what was wrong with her, so they couldn't help her. They may of not fully understand the disorder of trichotillomania at first, but after a while, they were sure to have some understanding about it. A minor case that had an evident effect upon her, and her family.

It was the beginning of all attention turning to her. Aki, and Grainne neglected Hazel in a sense, and instead turned their overall attention to Krystal. When the attention came upon Krystal, it felt as if there was an upkeep to constantly do something that was disastrous every once, and a while to regain the attention back to herself. Three months prior to her eighteenth birthday, Krystal reached her lowest. Krystal suffered from bad acne, and exposed pours. She wasn’t one to care about her face, it was more so on her hair, but her caring for her weight and her face began when she started getting bullied for her appearance. It started with her being isolated, alone with no friends in any of her classes while they called her horrific names that were just not something you’d say to a person. Krystal firstly took it with a pinch of salt, and carried on - She believed it was just a joke at first, until the comments made became more serious. The people would do it when the no teacher, or no adult was there, or around, so therefore Krystal was alone to deal with this. Witnessing her bullies mimic her later enhanced her skill of mimicking. She was able to think back to what they did to her, and sickly thinks mimicking others is a way of escaping her pain that she endures even to this day. Before telling her family, Krystal’s way of coping was various ways. Her trichotillomania was one way. By pulling her hair, she believed the thoughts, and her suffering would be rid, but it never did.

With no resolution to her depressive thoughts, and pain, she’d attempt to relieve herself by engaging in drugs. By running in with the wrong crowd, Krystal was introduced to multiple substances from crystal meth to cocaine to ecstasy. The list went on, and Krystal consistently abused them throughout the years. It was the thought that they’d relieve her depressive thoughts, and overall improve her life entirely. It was during this time where she became acquainted with friends that shared similarities in her addiction, and overall this is where she took a turn for the worse. Disregarding her parents, and even her own sister. She instead focused on the constant use of the drugs, using them hourly at times, it impacting her appearance slightly, with slight wrinkles to her neck, hands. The depressive thoughts weren’t compressed, rather still there, with Krystal still looking for other escapes. She was a desperate, pitiful, and disgusting individual, using other people for her own personal gain, even dating people just to get herself some money to fuel her addiction even further.

Grainne, Krystal’s mother got sick of the constant late nights, and the caring for her daughter, that she instead focused on tossing Krystal out on the streets. The duo had been a variety of arguments, constantly blaming each other for unknown reasons, however at the age of twenty, Krystal was now homeless, and addicted to drugs, in Cork. The town was small, therefore it was evident that the majority of the town would have known, snarling their face up at her as she’d pace through in her tramp state. Krystal, and Hazel’s relationship was a touchy subject. It was also met with jealousy, on both ends. Krystal’s was more on how perfect Hazel was, whereas her sibling was jealous of the constant attention Krystal received. Even when Krystal wasn’t around, the attention was still focused on her somehow, whether it be finding out where she was, or. There was always a sense of guilt in that regard, especially on Krystal’s end. Hazel never got the credit she deserved, never got the attention she deserved, yet Krystal being a druggie ‘bitch’ meant that all eyes were on her.

Krystal had reached a point in her life where she was seeing demons, and evil energy following her everywhere that she would go. Even creatures, or people that would just yell at her, and tell her to fly away. Her mind was making up these voices, and messages for her to understand. Krystal believed that the answers were in the drugs. She was being mentally tormented by the voices, and the drugs were having a huge impact on everything. There was a point where she believed that spies were after her, and that she was going to be murdered, repeatedly crying, yelling at people on the streets. Krystal was a tragic mess. With time came the contribution of Hazel, as well as Grainne in getting their family member sectioned, and entered within the rehabilitation center. It was a struggle at first, however it was something that had to be done, and in result it bettered Krystal as a person, as well as her relationship with her mother, sister, and step-father. Hazel, and Krystal’s bond regained slightly following the tragic diagnosis of their mother with cancer. They disregarded the fact of their differences, and dislikes of one another, and worked upon them. Krystal developed as an individual, wishing for Hazel to receive any, and all attention, rather lurking in the dark herself. She’d resolve from being the brat she once was, and instead met with a innocent, yet friendly individual. However, the guilt of bringing the shame to her family, and everyone in Cork knowing about her struggling past lead for Krystal to furthermore pack up her things, apply for her visa, and move all that she knows to the city of Los Santos. An unfamiliar place that would either aid the female, or corrupt the female within her sixteen months of sobriety. Soon, she was joined by Hazel. Krystal’s, and Hazel’s stories are just about to begin.

Spoiler

“Push-..Push-..Push!” The nurse screamed at Grainne, noticing the child’s head popping out of the mother. With a gentle force, she delivered the baby delightfully. Only subtle rain pattered on the window in a soft tone, however cringe-worthily, the rain disappeared at the timing of the child’s birth. Born on Sunday, the eighteenth of August on 1999, ‘Hazel Eze’ was born premature into a lower income family. The majority of her childhood was spent in doors in Cork, Ireland. The child was outshined by her sibling, despite achieving higher-grades. Her sibling’s need of constant monitoring starved the child of attention, causing for her to want to warrant attention at any given point. Hazel’s jealousy fueled her to success academically, however, a sibling rivalry began to occur throughout their childhood due to the child’s negligence. Although possessing a ‘perfect image,’ Hazel’s self-esteem consistently lowered as she seeked attention elsewhere; with strangers, overeating, and self-harming.

Hazel dealt with the depressive, and inflicting pain that occurred every day with the variety of different courses, and classes. These were all primarily done after-school. She was involved in classes such as theatre, debate, art, and history. A way for Hazel to remove her head space from the negativity that plagued her, and instead to her interests, such as acting, public speaking, and even monarchs. She idolizes monarchs as she’d wish for attention, and power, whilst all of them heavily possesed femininity and integrity. They all kept their kind qualities, more so some to an extent.

The sister’s consistently bickered due to their unresolved issues. They were equally jealous of each other’s situation; Krystal for garnering attention and Hazel for having a biological father-figure. This brought the now-teenage to opt to seek attention elsewhere, beginning by expressing detailed and explicit graphic art online to vent her issues. By doing so, Hazel acquired a small-following online from her fabricated persona that later grew larger due to her catching the eye of a deep sub-forum. Initially the teenager was grateful for the attention, however, as the death-threats and hateful messages began being directed at her for no apparent reason, Hazel’s mindset became even emptier than it had been prior.

Hazel’s father, and all the convenient stores that he owned were meant with unsatisfactory success, rather flopping in terms of profits, and sales. His lacking business meant the family were entirely struggling with their financial state, and such. There were points where they’d miss meals due to the lack of funds. Hazel had to witness as Krystal took some money from their parents, a selfish move on her sibling’s side as she knew that they were harshly struggling. Although ostracized from her family, Hazel personally took it upon herself to seek aid to help pay for her mother’s chemotherapy and her tuition through private-school; unwilling to allow for the opportunity to pass. By any means, the events that surfaced afterwards weren’t satisifying whatsoever. But the teenager paid for both her chemotherapy and tuition through several jobs and ‘online-streaming’. Unfortunately, ‘private-photos’ and savagely-written diary entries were leaked from Hazel’s Google account as a minor and this caused for a momentum intervention to happen between her family. A productive event happening through this situation is Hazel eventually losing weight, encountering excessive-therapy sessions and the resolution between the tension of her family and her dramatics.

Afterwards, Hazel abandoned her internet persona, accessing mental-health assistance and aid for her spiralling grades. The sister’s were able to bond throughout a short-period in a sufficient manner, despite their tension not being fully-resolved whatsoever. The main reason behind their sudden-bonding was due to their mother being diagnosed with cancer in her mid-teens. Finally, the duo could relate to each other despite their similarities, emerging from their past childhood disputing. The affordance of such things as tuition and chemotherapy progressed the young-girl into debt. She remained consistent in manual labor despite this, academically graduating with with one of the highest scores for results in her year.

As their bond enhanced, Krystal was unfortunately kicked out by their mother for personal reasons. Eventually, with her sibling no longer being in close-contact to access with and her parent’s marital issues, Hazel assigned herself to an easy university to manage with academically wise; not particularly caring for her choice of course whatsoever. As the year pursued, she consented to join a ‘crush’ to a frenzied-party and unfortunately, in the midst of the chaos, the teenager was sexually assaulted. This event traumatized the newly-found woman, causing her to be diagnosed with PTSD from the occurrence; aside other occurrences that furthered the development of the disorder.

Following this, Hazel accused the individual of sexual-assault and due to having evidence, her assaulter was jailed for a short time-span. Hazel was heavily affected by the sexual assault, the disgust lingering entirely with it. The smell of her abuser stuck with her for a while, almost ensuring that she’d vomit at random moments. Straight after the abuse, the horror of the scenario forced for the female to bleach her body in an attempt to ‘cleanse’ herself when the problem wasn’t even related to her. Anger was provoked with Hazel, however a mind thought projected Hazel to dress herself in an oversexualised manner, treating the nature playfully despite what happen to her. Even with this, Hazel refused to be touched, the paranoia of another individual inflicting pain upon her encouraged for the depressive thoughts to continually happen. Hazel despised herself in all ways, shape, and forms, inflicting damage, and pain to herself through the element of self-harm. She hid it completely from everyone - Her mother, father, and even Krystal.

All this time she was struggling, yet no one knew, and all the focus was entirely on Krystal. The truth then came out, and fingers started being point, them all leading to Hazel whom the people of Cork were blaming for the outfits that she’d wear. Those who she believed that she trusted, like her friends, and even those in her class didn’t contribute in backing her up at all. It was at this point that Hazel realised the idea of trust, and from here, trust was something that she struggled with, throughout her whole life. It was a long process, but Hazel bounced back, ultimately recovering from the tragedy that happened to her, through the guidance of others, and her own self-worth. She took a part of activities such as martial arts, which was one of the most notably reasons for her weight loss. However, that wasn’t all it was for. Hazel wished to redeem her own strength, and the concept of protecting herself in the event that such a tragedy were to occur once again. During all of this, Hazel had to witness as her sister was growingly departing from reality, following being thrown out. It was Hazel who insisted in offering help, having her sibling be sectioned, and regain her sister back with the help of rehabilitation.

Hazel reached a point in her life where she wanted to go up, and only up. Cork was a restriction, or rather a hindrance to the female. It was restricted in her artistic expression. It was here that Hazel applied for a variety of universities, and colleges, primarily within Los Santos. It was an attempt to connect again with her sister, consistently messaging her, and growing the bond even stronger. She didn’t want to abandon her mother, however she deemed it acceptable to keep an eye on Krystal for her substance abuse, and to further expand her career. Hazel then packed up all her things, and gave a final goodbye to her parents, and the city that she had known since birth, and hopped on the plane. Los Santos would be deemed her new home. This is where both Hazel, and Krystal’s stories begin.
