To snitch or not to snitch?

Regular civilians simply don't understand how criminals think and operate, they might realize a person is dangerous or an area is dangerous but if as a victim they're robbed of valuable or very personal belongings they're of course going to call the cops. Most aren't going to resort to illegal acts to retaliate and get their shit back, or perhaps just perhaps they don't want to risk their livelihoods and food on their families tables over some stolen items and would rather just let the cops deal with it and be absolved of any legal trouble. Most people go through their lives never being arrested or charged with anything.

If they're not a victim and see someone else being beaten, robbed or murdered I doubt they'd want to cop charges for not reporting a serious crime, and again risk their livelihoods. It's not a normal thing for someone to see in a civilized Western city so of course they're gonna call the cops. This isn't the slums of Brazil or Mexico.

However on the flip side I would agree that most sensible people would get far out of view and earshot before even thinking about calling the cops, calling cops so obviously infront of violent criminals is certainly asking for trouble. But worth being chased across the entire map and killed for it? I doubt it. Scare the shit out of them, make sure they don't talk but don't kill them just because they witnessed something you were dumb enough to do in an area people would be likely to witness it.

Couple of days ago I literally saw a report for dm because someone was shot outside of an open casino infront of witnesses just for snitching. If you were careless enough let someone witness your crime, honestly? That's on you not the witness. There needs to be some sort of rule clarification on killing players for 'snitching' because right now, it's pretty silly.

So if you want to CK and PK over snitching, even calling 911 due not being actively involved, nor near you or any reason. Lets give your characters perma ck with no way to return to gang activities, if you return, you banned.

Meaning after you're CK'd, you can't RP in gangs anymore?

Its not a suggestion, it's mere neutrality if we want equality both sides shouldn't return to their old rp for the sake of consequences.

Again a proper suggestion would be to check the consequences of criminality. Starting with jail times, OOC jail times, then proceeding to point when it's a good reasoning to murder for calling the cops and when it's not.

It's not the same committing a crime in a open business/rockford hills or somewhere you could be seen easily, rather than your own turf/middle of the nonwhere.

Again i've seen people who rp illegal and had a minimum of 3 (m) character doing the exact same, for three different illegal factions. The problem is the influx of blank illegal characters dedicated to commit crimes, so after 30 minutes they changechar and switch to another one so they can continue doing crimes, like when people complain about "mallrats dedicated to ERP"

You dont need to be smart for getting off of crimes, I literally saw another character to murder a guy, with his pistol, run away, get rid of the gun, get caught by PD, PD couldn't prove it was him and let him go.

The only issue on this server is that people that call cops on you after a crime will literally do it in front of your face. They won't even walk away. You can rob someone and leave them their phone, first thing they'll do is dial 911 right next to you. What do you expect to happen if the criminals are literally witnessing you call the cops on them? Walking in the middle of a gang-infested hood, witnessing a crime and then reporting the crime right in front of the people that did it is just dumb. And I know for a fact that people that complain here the most are the exact people that do it.

If you had read my post properly (at least it seems like you haven't) you'd have seen I covered this exact issue and even agreed that was stupid and they should expect what's coming to them for it.

That is clear No Fear RP and that should end with CK. Simple as that.

Even for the criminal it's fair grounds to blast him or shoot one of his feet (This is a common tactic rather than killing IRL, to deter future situations)

We seem to have drifted off topic, but following that drift. Other then someone calling cops directly in front of the criminal - should expect possibility of some kind of heat.

Outside of that, there seems to be escalation that goes from zero to murder pretty quickly on the server.

Murder should on most occasions be last option, there are a ton of other paths that can be chosen to extend RP, rather then a kill shot, which not only kills the character - it also kills a lot of other RP too

For the love of god - stop and stay on the topic at hand. You guys are bickering at each other and it's just straight up annoying to keep hiding posts. I'm at the point of locking the thread. Stay on topic, if someone REALLY gets you going in terms of needing to argue, take it to a forum PM and RESPECTFULLY argue it out.

Focusing on the issue at hand, I agree with Nicky. As someone who's got an education in Criminology, the issue isn't a lack of build up, it's that everyone wants to RP a killer. A killer gangster, a killer mobster, a killer biker. Everyone wants blood, no one flinches at violence and people are looking for that high-speed low drag kind of storyline. There needs to be more variation among the crowd. But from my not so professional opinion, lots of people seem to be RPing what they think criminal life is like, not what it actually is, then try to retroactively justify it as realistic because Hollywood had a rash of stabbings in 2020.

Murder ain't the solution to informants, it's usually just the cause of more problems both IC and OOC.

That being said if you are gonna call the cops, be pragmatic. Duck out of sight before you hit that dial. That way if people do go out of their way to zero in on you, you know what you're really dealing with on an OOC level.
