Los Santos: Two Fatal Officer Involved Shooting
 
The Los Santos Police department is saddened to announce the deaths of two serving police officers who gave their lives in the line of duty during April 2022.

On Thursday, April 7th 2022 at around 22:00 p.m, Los Santos Police Department officers assigned to Mission Row Patrol Division and Traffic Division responded to a call for service in the Little Seoul area following reports of active gunfire.

A unit assigned to the traffic division was first on-scene. It was here an officer-involved-shooting occurred. This Officer withdrew his service pistol and began to engage the active shooter. During the shoot-out a total of four other individuals began to fire on the first responder.

Los Santos Fire Department, and resources from Pillbox Hill Medical Centre were dispatched to the area to render aide to the Officer who was wounded during this incident. It is with great sadness and upset however that unfortunately this officer succumbed to their injuries despite the best efforts of the emergency medical responders. Next of Kin have been identified and Los Santos Police Department are supporting family and friends during this tragic circumstance. The officer can now be named by the department and is identified as Police Officer III Carlos Tapia, 23495.

A second incident occurring on Sunday, April 17th 2022 at around 23:30pm., pertaining to an officer involved shooting. Officers assigned to Metropolitan Division, Canine Platoon were assigned to an investigation in the area of Del Perro Boulevard following an armed foot pursuit whereby the suspect was at large.

Officers were alerted by canine resources and subsequently followed the trace to the underground metropolitan transport system. Whilst conducting a search a firearm was retrieved. Whilst setting up a preliminary scene investigation an individual ran behind officers, withdrew a firearm and began to discharge the gun towards officers. Officers assigned to the scene returned fire and subsequently neutralized the threat.

Los Santos Fire Department, and resources from Pillbox Hill Medical Centre were dispatched to the area to render aide to the suspect and two officers that had been wounded. Additional canine medically trained personal and elements of D Platoon tactical medical operators were also dispatched to the incident. The suspect, who cannot be named at this time was pronounced deceased on-scene by LSFD Paramedics. The next-of-kin has been informed and we are supporting them through this period. An Officer assigned to Mission Row Patrol Division was treated, and transported from the scene to Pillbox Medical.

Unfortunately medical personal were unable to resuscitate a canine handler who can now be named as Police Officer III Antonio Lopez and his canine Ghost. The Los Santos Police Department has informed the next-of-kin and funeral arrangements are being made at this time.
