Someone I RP with, very regularly, has some horrible performance problems, and their car literally teleports back and forth randomly whenever they drive somewhere. And yet people keep saying "DESYNC IS AN EXCUSE1111" whenever they crash into stuff that *obviously* would have been avoided, if it had properly loaded/streamed on their screen ^^'

If (M) character should be put behind an application wall, the same should count for lesbian characters. (M) Characters are abused for half-assed self insert fantasy criminal serial killer purposes. And lesbian characters are used for half-assed, poor roleplay self insert fetish ERP purposes. At the end of the day, these are both extremes on the legal and illegal spectrum and both impact the server in terrible ways. The server would be 10000x better off if neither of these concept were as popular as they are now.

Nah, don't even bother. There are people in the LGBT+ community who overly sexualize everything and they make their sexuality their whole personality. They are a loud minority in the community and everyone hates them, even fellow members. It's the same on this server - there are normal LGBT+ characters who are developed and happen to be trans, gay or whatever, and then there are overly fetishized/sexualized characters roleplayed by losers who can barely type with one hand as the other one strokes their dick.

Leave them be, ignore those people. They skidaddle around server rules already, if I remember correctly you are not allowed to make a character purely for ERP, yet they still do. They would skidaddle around the application as well (and yeah I know the application part is somewhat of a joke).

They still live and play with other people, probably because they're like I said - losers with no life - who milk donator money out of their parents each month.

 

Jokes aside, like I said - leave them to fuck each other like they do right now. Most people avoid them, I avoid them as well. I have a trans character and could pass an application to roleplay as one if there was one, but there is no need. I'm doing fine having fun on my normal character, let them people have fun on their overly fetishized characters.

We could argue about trans characters more but like I said - who cares? I don't care if they roleplay being a MtF who's been on pills for 10 years and yet their genitals didn't shrink or infertility didn't get to them. People will not roleplay the "disadvantages" of that life because they're here to "have fun", meaning they want to specifically roleplay ejaculating all over someone even though they've been on pills which prevent them from doing that for 10 years. That's FUN to those people, to me and you FUN might be roleplaying a character who contributes to the server in any way.

For exampke, people will argue that not every trans woman gets the aforementioned disadvantages or whatever but we just go back to the start - who, cares?
I, as a Player, fall under the trans umbrella, and am I offended by it or something? No, I don't care, there are better things to worry about than someone being retarded and lacking research to roleplay an overly fetishized character with some other overly fetishized character. Just two people having fun with each other, as long as they mind their own business.

 

I do not think anyone is genuinely overly mad about this issue or like, offended by it. Because if anyone is, they need to really go touch grass. Personally if someone's story doesn't really click in character, I call them out on it. If it is borderline unrealistic and/or stupid, I totally ignore them. If it's that plus it hinders my roleplay, I report it.

To be fair, most people playing those kinds of characters are basically just chasers who don't even know what an egg is. As you mentioned, they can easily be written off ^^' Just like a lot of lesbian characters don't have a shred of knowledge of LGBT+ culture. It's weird, when your character's the only straight one in a room, and yet, they're the only one who knows what a Butch or a U-Haul Lesbo are :x  

 

The thing is that this specific problem is not only affecting LGBTQ+ characters. I've seen people playing mafiosi, whose only knowledge of organized crime is watching a couple of movies. People playing computer-savvy characters, who cringely "/me types extremely fast!" when they're hacking something. Dudes who play wannabe gangstas but they're basically a super racist caricature (and then they're surprised no good gang faction wants them lol). I mean even something as "simple" as a female character - I can tell you a lot of those infamous hourglass chars are not portrayed by women (or have much knowledge about them at all). :x

 

I mean lol, someone playing a character - who's portrayed a a sort of business genius - once OOC'ly told me that "you would realistically use any money you got to repay your business's loan... otherwise it's bad RP...". Meanwhile in reality, a company owning non-deprecating assets will never ever want to pay the loan back - and the bank will never want the company to pay the loan back. It's better for both to only pay the interest, then later down the line sell and replace the asset (since it doesn't lose much value over time), and keep the credit line going. 

 

We got a fair few people who OOC'ly believe they're the summit of good portrayal, while the real knowledge displayed is limited. Which is fine, I mean... it would be completely insane to ask anyone to have encyclopedic knowledge of every character they make. A strict minimum would be nice though. And while this issue is more visible with LGBTQ+ characters because it's been trendy to go after this community for a while now... if you look at every character with the same scrutiny, you'll find out it's rather widespread :x

As long as I don't see a recreation of the NCIS "Two hackers, one keyboard" approach, I can stomach some of the more cliche hacking methods.

 

The real shame is that hacking isn't usually that cool. It's more like just grabbing a computer off someone's desk and taking it home to see the data on your own time. Everyone expects the Matrix when it's really more of a low-key comedy scene.

With all honesty rules should be enforced a little tighter, things changed from late 2019 and start of 2020, in 2018 on you had decent RP people Roleplayed outdoors, now? you got shootouts every corner and no one Roleplays outside.
