Sea Fishing

I really apologize if this has already been suggested, and I wouldn't doubt if it was, but I really think this would be a cool addition. I hope I have some original ideas.

Description:

Add fishing spots in the middle of large bodies of water (or at sea) and increase the chances of getting uncommon/rare fish at these spots to encourage going out there.

Items to add:

More fishing spots in the water and possibly more fish selling locations along the coast. There's also an opportunity add more fish if you'd like to go in depth.

How would your suggestion improve the server?

This suggestion could improve the server in multiple ways. I believe this would introduce so many opportunities to add more roleplay. This could add so many possibilities to new roleplay that no one truly does on this server. There could be new factions, new characters, new illegal RP which could add a new department into the law enforcement factions.

Additional information:

I think a cool idea would be not to make any of the new fishing spots static. Let's say there's only one or two spots in the middle of the water, and about every 45 minutes to an hour it changes, causing you to sail to different spots. This could add some competitive roleplay. However, I think if this were added, more fish selling locations would need to be added.  I also think if you add this, maybe add a static spot with a slightly less increase in uncommons/rares in the middle of Alamo Sea (and move the fish selling location closer to Grapeseed to be fair), for the people who don't feel like going to the different spots.

Also, let players store fish on the boats, for larger loads when they go to sell. This would encourage players to buy bigger boats with more storage.

Boat fishing is currently in the works, not sure what it's priority ia but it's been discussed for a while.

I assumed so. Well, I think I may have come up with some additional, original ideas to add to it, if it IS in the works.

I'd just like to add the perspective of someone who has seen that system implemented ^^

BEFORE:

The main fishing point, a static one, was the del Perro pier. Most new players came there, hung around other players. There was *some* RP. Not a lot since people came there to grind, but some. It was an occasion for newer players to start engaging in light conversation and stuff like that.

Additionally, the people fishing were not "cut from the rest of the world". If someone told them "Yo! Wanna hang?", they had to simply finish their fishing run, which takes 3 minutes, sell, and go hang out. Therefore, people fishing could still easily "abandon" their current activity without too much of a loss or waste of time, and engage in RP.

AFTER:

The Del Perro pier died within a couple of months. Most older players bought boats and left to the deep sea to fish, leaving newbies alone on the pier.

Additionally, the people fishing were literally 15 minutes from everyone else - and if they interrupted their session, they'd waste quite a lot of time. If someone texts them "Yo, wanna hang out?", they'd need to finish filling their boat and sell, in order to not lose money. Since that meant 30+ minutes, most of the time, the RP was simply abandoned.

Now of course, some said it could create RP, in the form of:

- Multiple people fishing on the same boat

- People selling boats and opening specific shops

- Maybe pirates!

This is the theory. In practice, with a server that had ~80ish people online regularly, the piracy only lasted for a few weeks, and the "multiple people fishing" expeditions were incredibly rare. And when they did happen, they usually just stayed on the boat /cf'ing, not RP'ing. As for the boat businesses, none ever opened. Theory and practice are often wildly different.

So in a nutshell, it was the functionality no one wanted, no one needed and that didn't create any RP. It's something SAMP had, but "SAMP had it" is usually not a good enough reason, from a game design and RP point of view, to add a functionality =/ If anything, it will isolate farmers more than they are already isolated. And once more, since I've seen it in actual practice, it's not a "it may isolate them more" but it "definiteiy will" isolate them more.

I believe this was forwarded prior to the rollback but I'm going to leave this open for further discussion. There could be some pros and cons to deep sea fishing to deter the lazy grinders and make the job more interesting and dynamic.

Cons:

Fishing area further from shore

If you fish too much in one area the supply of fish there dwindles for everyone and you'd need to move to a different area further away.

Dedicated fishing boats and nets would be needed.

Boats would be priced similarly to an executive vehicle.

Fishing bonus would not apply to those fishing from boats.

Pros:

Fish can be kept in the boat.

Boats have varying capacity depending on size.

Lucrative return.

This would also give the government the opportunity to introduce fishing licenses and other laws, bringing more rp all-round.
