DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES CREATION OF "SAN ANDREAS BLUE ALERT"

With the cooperation of the Sheriff of Los Santos County, his Chief of Staff, and Assistant Sheriff of Patrol and Detective Operations, the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department is announcing a reporting and reward system for members of the Los Santos County community.

Over a dozen local law enforcement officers have been injured or killed in the past week. It's no secret that the City of Los Santos and the surrounding areas are in the throes of a gun violence epidemic. Respect for life is at an all-time low and many residents are fleeing the City at the hands of this crisis.

The Department is now offering a FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLAR ($50,000) REWARD to any member of the Public who reports information that leads to the arrest and conviction of someone who killed a law enforcement officer, or when that information has resulted in a guilty plea by the suspect(s).

A TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLAR ($25,000) REWARD is also offered to any member of the Public who reports information that leads to the arrest and conviction of someone who attempted to kill, or seriously injured, a law enforcement officer, or when that information has resulted in a guilty plea by the suspect(s).

The law enforcement officer can be from any Department and the incident could have happened anywhere in the state. The Department's Office of the Chief of Staff and the Detective Division will administer this program.

These rewards will automatically be offered in cases where law enforcement officers anywhere in the State are shot in the line of duty.

In order to qualify, an individual with information on the shooting of a law enforcement officer must provide that information directly to the San Andreas Blue Alert program via email to [email protected].

Any report made to law enforcement outside this tip line will be considered in the determination of a reward but will not be guaranteed or binding on San Andreas Blue Alert and the Department.

This reward is per incident and not per officer or per suspect; if more than one law enforcement officer is shot or seriously injured, the maximum payout will remain at $25,000. If more than one law enforcement officer is killed, the maximum payout will remain at $50,000.

The determination as to the validity of a claim for the cash reward will be solely within the discretion of the Office of the Sheriff and the Office of the Chief of Staff.

The recipient of the cash reward will have the absolute right to total confidentiality of their identity. Any individual who utilizes this program to report information will not be identified outside of the Department without their explicit consent; if they do not consent, all identifying information is kept only for reward disbursement purposes.
