Prohibit using Forum PM's as IC emails.

Recommended Posts

We seem to be very mixed in the answers here. Reminder that a there are a lot of different type of emails/websites for emailing out there!

I'll definitely bring it up in the staff meeting for January though and see how the staff team feels about it overall and update you guys.

It does not make much sense letting people use OOC forums for IC emails when a literal IC website is made to facilitate the RP.

pretty much like how Marketplace IC section in forum existed when there's advertisement system already in game. It should be optional.

Exactly, /pm isn't a phone because you have a phone system. Also, forum PM isn't an email because you have an email system now.

People use forum PMs because until now, there was no other way. Now there is.

theres a lot of things forum PMs have that ls mail does not.

Not supporting.

Those two are complementary. The forum marketplace can reach out to many more people than the in-game /ads, but with the downside that nothing's on the spot and you'll have to coordinate going online, which can take a while (if it's possible at all). The in-game /ads have an instant reach to a lower number of people.

For now, yes. I don't think the switch should be made yet, but rather once the email system is completely functional and has at least the same amount of options the forum offers.

The lsmail website is still fairly new and requires a lot of work until it is viable as an alternative to the convenient private messages on forums, especially on the various faction forums and bbcode implementation. And even when it is on par or better, it should still only be a voluntarily (incentivized) option rather than being enforced as only option.
