Prohibit using Forum PM's as IC emails.

We need regulation. Right now, it's like telling people they can either use the phone or just role-play /pm as being a phone. If given such choice, of course people will go for the latter.

The ls.mail thing is a really cool too, albeit it needs some improvements.

/pm isn't a phone, you have a phone function in game. The reason people use forum PM's as e-mail is because there is an IC section which is just an extension of the server. You're comparing two completely different things.

Exactly, /pm isn't a phone because you have a phone system. Also, forum PM isn't an email because you have an email system now.

People use forum PMs because until now, there was no other way. Now there is.

Features like this needs to be encouraged not enforced, at least at the beginning, six months down the line perhaps. There will always be a period for people to settle into a new system. I love the idea of email as it is more IC than the forums, but it will take a while for everyone to get an email and getting used to checking their emails.

Suggested improvement to the email to make it more user-friendly

1. UCP shortcut.
2. Notifications ig on your phone when receiving an mail (Maybe it already exist?)
3. Ability to add images, such as signatures or just general .jpg. Or files in general like we can do on here.
4. A phonebook option to write down peoples emails and to see the emails of previous people you're had corresponded with
5. While there is CC option, the strength of the forums is that you can have a conversation with many at once, and see the previous posts easily, and if it had the same ease and feel as a forum, it would make any forum correspondence absolute.

The email system is great but could be more user friendly to encourage adoption.  It's nice that it is accessible ingame via the CEF phone, but not everyone likes actually typing /ph and then using it (for example, using the phone often breaks animations like sitting).  An easy improvement would be to just add /email and it brings it up.  Auto login would be good too, so as soon as your character logs in, you're immediately and seemlessly logged into the email too.   Then a notification when a new email is received, if it doesn't exist already.

Is there no web version for it?

It wouldn't make sense to enforce this. Limiting roleplay possibilities and communication under the guise of more dependency to server systems and 'lore' is senseless and will fundamentally continue to be so while factions and organizations routinely depend on things such as Discord for the most trivial of communications. The mail system currently serves more as a convenience or a "cool thing we have" thing. It loses individual functionality the moment you lose your password, because you can't recover it. PMing someone on the forums to ask for their email and send them a message there is more of a vanity than anything else.

There is. The continuous selling of the CEF sites and how friendly they are with in-game integration is ridiculously overdone as you are required to log in every single time. The MDC, for example, requires you to log yourself in with your badge number and UCP password on every occasion, only to give you a browser variant with no tabs and limited functionality when anyone in their right mind would just opt to tab out instead. It is confusing to understand why any efforts were ever made in that direction when many other UI elements could benefit from a serious facelift.
