Reallow "looking for work" ads

It's a simple suggestion - reallow the "looking for work" ads. Why? Because it promotes "on-the-spot" role-play. Companies are still posting their hiring ads, but individuals should be allowed to do so as well. Sure, you can post them on the forums, but a very small percentage of the server's population actually uses the forums, uses the "job offers" page and takes the time to go through and reach out, then establish a date and time at which both people can be online. It's a pretty complex process for something that might otherwise be a simple thing.

People should be able to post such ads themselves, especially when companies can too. It's quite ridiculous to not have the occasional "I'll cut your grass for some money" advert but rather have the constant "hey i need a garage or mechanic pls txt me lots of $$$" and "female escort offering you the best night ever" and other similar ones.

It allows people to reach out to others who are already online, directly, and skip over a lot of unnecessary steps. It hurts no one.

Not sure why this was ever disallowed. Forcing pplayers to the forums is an unnecessary barrier to people who are already in-game. Just let people connect with other online people. Although lately I've seen work ads more often, so I'm not sure if the rule is being relaxed or what, but it needs to just be amended in the rules.

13 minutes ago, i dont wanna od in LA said:

no i dont want to see "21 year old italian looking for a job" twenty times within two hours

We already have people advertising:

  • "any garage open, i need some mods pls"
  • "buying any business, anywhere, for any price, in any condition"
  • "big booty studios offering you the latest porn"
  • "escort available, call for a good night"
  • "hiring EXOTIC dancers"
  • "need a bartender rq, please text"
  • and many others which are much more prevalent, "unrealistic", and are more inappropriate.

If you don't want to see them, you can disable the notifications and only look through /ads when you want to. If you're looking for something specific and there are too many ads otherwise, use the search function.

The pros heavily outweigh the cons, in my opinion. The reason people post such ads is because they're looking to role-play, and we should be promoting that, not supressing it.

I'm in agreement.

Specially with the new ad-system not displaying them in the chat anymore anyway- the core motivation to ever attempt to reduce ad traffic, which makes zero sense from a realistic point of view no matter at what you rp it- there's no harm in allowing people such stuff.

And most of all, it happens anyway- and I'd definitely not encourage admins to enforce this stricter. Rather indeed the rule should be formalized to allow job-hunters to post ads.

Ye I agree.

If we were to disallow an advert like this I would say just disallow the escort / private stripper related ones. I know hoes need to eat too but those were the annoying ads at least for me "Young woman looking for work will do anything!"

Then I ring them up and theyre not interested in a normal job at the Doppler because theyre looking to get on that ERP for $$$$

To add onto what has already been said, the current option of posting in the JOB OFFERS forum is extremely unfeasible, especially for easier, on-the-spot jobs. I've tried to both hire people and get hired via that forum and have had almost zero interaction while I would've had access to 600 possibly interested, online and available people if I were post it in-game.

If you scroll through a little bit, most of them have 0-2 replies and ~50 views. Out of those, you're lucky to get two or three messages and if someone is really set on a specific job, take a few days and find a time that works for both of you (if you're even in the same timezone) so that you can do what you could've otherwise done in minutes.

We shouldn't give up on that forum, though. We should just have both.

While the "21 year old Italian (as if that was fucking relevant to anything lmfao) looking for job" ads are kind of annoying, I tend to agree with the suggestion. Mahitto hits the nail on the head - every single job I've found so far was found within the game. On the forums, the mere logistics are often too much for anyone to bother. :<

Maybe amend the rule to only allow relevant details or encourage a better practice? But yeah, maybe those should be allowed again ^^
