[Illegal Faction Discussion] - Are IFM handing the supplier roles correctly?

To return to the topic at hand, I believe weapon specialists should have more oomph, perhaps by giving them the myriad weapon attachments that are not circulating at all on the server like compensators, scopes, grips, drum mags, rifle extended mags and suppressors and I believe melee supplier is less of a role and more of a cosmic joke.

I don't know what the solution would be for melee supplier but I sure as hell know for a fact I don't buy my 9 Irons from Sammy "The Bull" Gravano.

Do not forget to give gun-store employees the role as well for Civilians could handle their guns as well.

As someone who's been in the Weapon Specialist supplier role, you don't really need anything more than is already there. Hell, back when I had the role we didn't have anything in regards to damages to weapons and such, and it was still fun roleplay and honestly? I don't see a need personally for specialists to have drops of attachments, maybe through an extra application but there isn't a need for a base specialist to get these drops. Either way, it's one of the most profitable supplier roles if you've got the proper connections and roleplay behind it.

Well even the melee market is heavily based on OOC connections. That's why you have to pay above 10k for a switchblade in pawnshops. I've seen people sell machetes and axes for over 30k alone which is insane.

That, much like the weapon supplier. Is because weaponry is kept within circles. Rarely do they hit up the streets. The most common conception is that supplier supply those that know them - and those that do know them are within groups. I personally have found it hard to find a supplier as a solo person, but then again I might've not tried hard enough, so I'll refrain from making statements without any more basis.

I think there should be a forceful opening of melee weapons to the market. It's not necessarily hard to find a knife as it is finding a gun.

I agree with that statement when it comes to firearms but melee weapons should be easily accessible to the market. It's really stupid that an axe costs more than a Glock. Then we wonder why there are so many shootouts and no brawls. Of course I am not going to buy a switchblade for 10-15k when I can have a firearm for 20-25k.

This was one of my gripes with IFM, though not necessarily for bias. They just made it incredibly difficult for me to get into illegal RP. I'm not gonna try and pretend there isn't sexism in the illegal community, because there is. A lot of it, primarily IC but a considerable amount of OOC too. I tried for months to join the illegal scene as a female character who wasn't in a black gang or a hispanic gang and found it next to impossible. The only way a female will even be considered in organised crime, unfortunately, is if they have something to offer that's too good to pass up - and even then you'll be met with sexism. I tried multiple times for a supplier role to give me something to make an illegal faction want me, and I had the perfect setup for it. I had a hardware store with all the necessary knowledge and tools to remove serials which I owned for a long, long time and I had a history in crime. Unfortunately, IFM would rather give weapon specialist to 18 year old teens in white gangs with no knowledge of the process IC or access to the required tools/workspaces. After that, I simply gave up trying to push my way into the avenue of illegal RP I was trying so hard to get into. It seemed biased and I couldn't be bothered waiting to get a thumbs-up for months to be able to do something minor to make factions not just brush you off.

I'm erring off-topic, but if you wonder why there's such a divide between legal and illegal and why guns, drugs and weapons are sold in circles or OOC, this is why. IFM will never consider you for a supplier role in any capacity unless you're a 6'4 Russian guy or a methed up gangster (male). I've seen one example of a female supplier in my time here and they were a minor supplier for one specific type of drug, of which I've no doubt they had to fight massively to obtain. Supplier roles should be handed out way more frequently to "legal" RPers if you ask me, to encourage interaction between the two sides that isn't just either a robbery attempt or an extortion plot. In my experience though, you gotta be a male character, in deep with IFM and or in an admin faction to get a supplier role.

I agree on two points in this thread.

The melee weapons cost WAY too much, it's incredibly unrealistic and bad.

I had only one bad experience with IFM, in where I made mistakes myself too. So, I really cannot judge through my personal opinion. But I've seen people complaining about it almost every week. Both in the forums, discord, or anywhere else. At this point, it's pretty obvious there's something wrong about it, if the world "biased" pops up this much. Is it possible that all these people are complaining with no fair point? Is it possible to receive all these negative feedbacks for no valid reason?

Nobody gets these drops, and if they do they're not in circulation like weapon attachments should be.

I think Ammunation should sell more attachments than it does, and I think weapon specialists should get these attachments because if weapon suppliers do get them, they have completely failed in their distribution.

I'm not sure if any attachments even exist outside the currently scripted in ones (I know there's vanilla ones, but not sure whether or not they're ingame.

IIRC Weapon Suppliers get these drops aswell. And yeah, I do agree with you on the ammunation part, they should give us a bit more variety on weapons aswell as weapon attachments.
