Why does it bother you that a minor character has an apartment that he roleplays as his parents'? It brings a lot of roleplay and does not give them a single advantage. You can't expect hundreds of minors to roleplay as homeless. If you have an issue with someone not portraying their assets properly then just report them to RPQM. No need to cry about minors in every general discussion.

I don't necessarily mind NPC'ing for story purposes, but many times the NPC parents are used for the specific purpose of getting out of trouble. They get pulled over in a car that's scriptwise under their name, but say its their parents car because they are a minor (parents which don't exist, so no one ends up getting in trouble). That I don't agree with whatsoever and it is currently allowed.

But, you can't get out of trouble through this method. In the end, the character's vehicle will get re-possessed, house will get raided, and the character will undergo the charges for their own actions. Kids don't get out of trouble simply because "Oh, you're riding your mom's car, you're exempt from all Laws".

In the process, the character can still be identified through the system, as the parents would be linked to the child as the parents have legal custody of that child.

Then we should have script support to put that vehicle/property in the name of someone else. It's already no okay for normal characters, it shouldn't be for minors either - you, for example, can't role-play having 10 sports cars that actually belong to your long-lost millionaire uncle and live in a villa that belong to your tech mogul father. Because as the 'if it's on you, it's on you' rule goes, we should have the same for 'if it's yours, then it's yours'.

If someone wants to RP a property or vehicle as being their parents', they should find someone willing to role-play as their parents. Or if we're allowing NPCs, we should properly address that - no more robberies in the middle of the street, during the day, in otherwise-populated cities, for example.

So a person can't RP a minor to be in the faction they want to join, because they're not popular enough to get someone to RP their parent?

I agree that a minor driving around in a sports car is ridiculous but banning them from all assets doesn't change this. The bad portrayals will continue to be bad, they will just steal the sports cars instead and increase robberies. Surely theres a less black and white approach to this, like setting a limit on how many assets they can have rather than outright banning?

A minor should atleast have a home they can RP living in, as most minors are gang characters, and most gang characters are supposed to be long term locals in the area, not just a bunch of homeless kids that pop up from all over.

Realistically speaking, minors depend on their parents. If a realistic under-18 character had realistic parents, them being caught straight-up murdering someone or ganging up on people to rob them, or even just speeding and causing accidents, could get their access to the vehicle taken away from them, or get them grounded etc. Besides the fact that 16-year-olds need an adult with them in the car and lots of parents simply wouldn't allow their underage kids to do something like that. Sure, some parents are careless or absent but on GTA World, all parents are absent, drug addicts, imprisoned or something that conveniently allows the kids to do whatever they want, whenever they want and still have full magical access to all of their assets.

Who said anything about murder? If a minor character kills someone, I highly doubt they can pull the "im 16!" card and get away with it. Nothing a roleplayed or NPC'ed parent could do about that. Also a person that wishes to RP in a gang deciding that their character's parent is absent or a drug addict etc. is not exactly out of the ordinary given the areas that most minors RP in. Bad parenting is a big factor in how kids become criminals in the first place, but thats for another discussion. No one is denying that there are people out there who make a 16 year old character and then use that as an excuse to own unrealistic assets and get away with everything, I just don't agree with this method of solving it. Its restrictive, puts every person who RPs a minor into a box and it completely ruins immersion for the person actually behind the character. Not to mention this rule would stop 17+ year olds from driving a vehicle belonging to their NPC parents too and a lot of 17 years old in the US can drive without parental supervision. Its not unheard of for a young adult to use a parent's car.

I dont really see the problem with rping a 16 yr olds driving their parent’s shit box car or owning a property and living with an NPC family member because that’s ROLEPLAY

NPC’ing a relative gives no advantage over a player so that wouldn't be powergame at all its similar to having your character roleplay going to Highschool even though it doesn't exist in World

Even if they used this excuse to get out of trouble its not gonna work at all.

All of these suggestions are highkey dumb asf, why are y'all always trying to limit possibilities in RP? As long as it is rp'd accordingly I see no problem with it at all. If just half of these suggestions would be accepted then all what we would have on this server is quiet car rides and cat ears, no thanks
