Democratic Senators Valeria Reyes and Edward Ulf walked out of a hearing, refusing to discuss the Domestic Violence Act of 2021?

Los Santos, SA - On 10th October 2021, the Public Safety Committee of the San Andreas Senate held a hearing at the San Andreas State Capitol in Alta, regarding S.B. 62 - Parking Definitions Act of 2021. Republican Senator Rudy Benson was chairing the hearing, Secretary of State Guillermo Perez was in the audience.

The hearing started with Republican Senator Adrian Rossi presenting his bill with an opening speech. "My dear spectators, constituents, and my fellow colleagues. Today we hear the Parking Definitions Act of 2021, which expands upon the Penal Code's gray areas, as well as its undefined aspects related to parking. Parking is an every-day activity of ours. It's crucial we push this bill past the committee for full Senate consideration. It also repairs the broken system of property owners being able to determine public parking spaces outside of businesses, which can lead to favoritism and discrimination. All in all, this bill seeks to complete what the Penal Code has either missing or briefly skims over. Thank you", said Mr. Rossi.

Afterwards, Democratic Senator Valeria Reyes requested to speak, after which she started with the question: "Does Senator Rossi consider us above the law?", asked Ms. Reyes. "Senator Reyes, no one is above the law", responded Mr. Rossi. At that point, it seemed like the hearing turned to a tense atmosphere.

"Then may I ask my colleague why vehicles that are SA EXEMPT, such as some of the vehicles we use, may park illegally?", continued Ms. Reyes.

"The floor is now open for additional comments from the floo-- Senator Reyes. Please keep this civil, that is all I will say at this time. You will get one additional minute, please continue", said Chairman Benson.

"I never yielded my time Mister Chairman, I said I had a few questions for my colleague. If Senator Rossi could answer my second question, I'll be able to continue", responded Ms. Reyes.

Afterwards, the two Senators continued discussing the bill. After the discussion concluded, Mr. Benson announced recess so the Senators would have time to read over SB 68 - Domestic Violence Act of 2021 and discuss it. However, during the recess, LSNN sources state that allegedly, there was a dispute between Democratic Senators Valeria Reyes and Edward Ulf versus five Republican Senators. On the other hand, Democratic Senator Gabriella Beltran wanted to stay and discuss the Act, together with the Republicans. "It seems solid. I am on board", said Ms. Beltran. Furthermore, LSNN sources (two participants of the hearing) sent over a written transcript from the recorded conversation during recess, allegedly.

Mr. Benson and Mr. Ulf published reactions on Facebrowser too.

"Disgusted that Democratic Senators Reyes & Ulf walked out of a bill that would hold criminals responsible for domestic violence. Just shows how little they care about the citizens of San Andreas", wrote Mr. Benson as a Facebrowser status.

"Seeing accusations about a hearing that we walked out. Funny how republicans cry about us not caring about women when they wont even allow abortions in this state. Then they accuse us of being socialists and whatnot while they live in multi million dollar homes riding expensive cars. Hypocritical", wrote Mr. Ulf as a Facebrowser status.

Update:

LSNN reached out to Senator Valeria Reyes for a statement. "Senate rules of 7.1.5.3 state the following - A public notice of a committee hearing should be given at least twenty four (24) hours in advance of the committee’s hearing. The domestic violence was unannounced and not scheduled for the committee hearing that took place. Nor were we given a 24 hour notice for the hearing. Furthermore, the bill was proposed only a few hours before the hearing. None of our Senators were given time to read, study and discuss the bill as we usually do. Therefore I asked to be given at least 24 hours to read the bill, in accordance with the rules. My request was denied and the rules were blatantly broken, while heavy personal insults were also thrown at us by Senator Munoz. The purpose of a committee hearing is to discuss and debate about a bill. I am unfortunately unable to do that when I am not given time to research the bill, and look for ways to improve it if needed or look for flaws within the content. It is needless to say that I am obviously against domestic violence, but along with time restrictions this is the reason why I did not partake in the hearing", said Ms. Reyes for LSNN.

LSNN has reached out to Senator Edward Ulf for a statement too. Once we receive a statement, we will include it in this article.

Comment: The Democrates say they hold women in a higher position. But when it is time to act, they run for cover because they are hypocrites. Mrs Reyes is the biggest rogue of them all, why because she is liar and hates women, Come on Reyes where is the empowerment. She even wanted women to be legally abused by legalizing prostitutions, Can you imagine what sort of a mindset she has. Vote her out. Vote them the Democrates machine out of power.
