why does the city feel dead?

Why is it like this? Can anybody from Property Management explain?

Properties are split up into several sections, property, house, lease, interiors, shops, garages, moves, smart tps, and vehicle leases.

When we open up we exceed a total of 250 requests per batch and we try very hard as a team to come together and sit down to go through each one of them. Mind you, consider and keep in the back of your mind how long these requests and how short they can be. Some people really go into elaborate detail in their requests which can take up to 20-40 minutes to read. As a team we discuss and point out issues, comments, concerns and what we would like to happen. Property Management is very team focused when it comes to the above.

Properties are a lengthy process as we review not only a lengthy request (90% of the time) but we need to be in-game to check out the coords, we need to see if it's right for the request and then for the player, after coming to that conclusion we look into assets, activity and admin record. After 5-10 requests you become quite tired of doing them, trust me. Houses take time as lots of people are contesting for the same property. We, again, adopted this system recently (thanks to @Adv) who produced a spreadsheet to when things get handled and tracks comments. Houses can be left up to months to be handled, we like to make sure they're done properly and sometimes taking time can be worth it.

Leases? As I was the head of leasing, I tend to read them, compare the requests and quite frankly? I'd handle them there and then. Leases can be handled if they have 2-3 comments on it (preferably 3+). Whereas others require more.

Vehicle leases can be handled independently. I handle them regularly (see gtaw property discord announements, I usually tell people).

We try really hard to reiterate to get these done in a timely fashion. And I know this has been said like a billion times but we do work IRL too, we do have commitments IRL.

Letting a bunch of crime grinders go wild across the entire city will result in people not bothering to stay outside. Any minute spent outside is bearing the risk of being robbed or kidnapped by a four deep sedan looking for a quick lick and PF guns. Crime GRIND has something to do with it and cannot be denied. It is one of the four listed factors that contributed towards the decline of outdoor roleplay being as bad as needing flat out bans added to the server rules.

i hear u niggas talking about this crime wave so much but ive neve rbeen robbed a day in my life unless i provoked said people first

I have never in my decade across ls-rp and gta:w heard of "grinding crime".  I have however witnessed many, many people grinding script jobs to gamble to buy businesses to open it daily to make more pixel money.     The key difference between going on a crime spree and "grinding" is that there's usually development happening during a crime spree that can't be seen doing /me smiles every two minutes in a 24/7, or min-maxing the autoholics run in a Pounder.

There's the odd shitter that goes out to try and rob PF guns but they are an absolute minority of criminal characters.  Stop chalking up your personal experiences on the server as what is happening everywhere all the time.

city's dead because night clubs are basically McDonald's franchises, they're all the same and ERP hubs and end in shootings every night, and b/c people like pew pew

edit: go to the county where people RP and make meth and become one with nature in the state parks

This is historically inaccurate. I'll have you know that new McDonald's franchises open almost every 15 hours, each one being equipped with state of the art video surveillance. If you have an issue with one of franchisee locations please reach out to me and I can direct your complaint to the appropriate person. On a side note, I haven't experience much change in this. I think you just need to keep looking.

Applying for a property to start a local business for RP is a process that easily takes 3 months to get you any kind of response unless it's a lease. That's a start.

By the time you even get a response that character may very well not even be alive anymore or interest faded.

The time is excessive and the gaps between the "process" are rough. Businesses are in far too short supply for how many actually open. A ton don't even run them themselves they hire other people to do it and take a cut. They might only open for bonus then kaput. No interest in doing it for the RP. It's a problem, in my humble opinion. This is not to hate on the PM, they try and work very hard. However, something has to be done to speed up the process of this whole thing. Opening a flower shop shouldn't take three months. It's a video game and businesses are one of the most underused vessels for Roleplay. I am currently managing two cafes nearly full time as I await the opportunity to file another request.

Secondly, the city has been dead compared to before. When I started playing in August it was most alive in my estimation. People stayed on later as well so it was probably a component of people going back to school. There are times when there are literally no businesses open at all and at relatively early hours in my estimation. I mean, theirs still 100's of people, but there has been a very recent noticeable quietness to the server in the past two weeks to me. And at the same time "short-fuse" RPers who are in a nonstop loop of causing conflict are running all over the place. I watched someone die in Rockford Casino today over a minor verbal dispute.

Things like that get dragged out into a whole "RP" so anyone who was doing anything there now everything is stopped to make way for some mediocre PK situation done by teenagers who think the only way their character could possible react is punchy punchy pewey pewey. This happens as well if someone has a dumb dispute in a cafe. Boom, it's close, police come statements blah blah blah blah. Every once and a while? Great RP. Every single day all day? Not so great. I really believe we have to get better at like.. not acknowledging every single poor excuse of RP with it's own parade and song. People wonder why people get jaded on like seeing dead bodies next to them and don't really "RP" it accordingly, but what they fail to realize is depending on how active you are you literally see MASSIVE shootouts in "safe" areas of the city even so often that it's almost like living in an apocalypse.

I find myself choosing to run to my car instead of lingering outside? Why? I CBA with being dragged into some kidnap / robbery / murder RP for 3 hours when I could be doing something fun and enjoyable like opening Ciao Cafe and listening to music from the 1930's. Every one and a while? GREAT. Everyday? No.

We don't act like we share a server with highly skilled characters who invest time into building their stories, so defined "mallrat" people who just bounce around and liquify themselves into situations, people who roleplay themselves with a different last name, and people who RP at a bare minimum to just follow the rules so it's considered OK. I know we have a RPQM team, but something needs to be done in my opinion to actively (as in, not later on a forum report) evaluate if RP situations are really all that hospitable for everyone to have a good story and engagement for their characters. Crime shapes people greatly, it can alter their characters behavior and change them forever. Non stop crime turns everyone into a cynic, and that translates to OOC eventually. People literally get mad and have fought with my friends because we played poker outside. Things like that are why I don't bother RPing outside. There is something about the "WE ARE SUPER SERIOUS SOLEMN RP EVERYTHING IC ALL THE TIME SUPER SERVER" thing that is used to low quality RPers advantage to just do dogshit crap on characters, get CKED, and repeat it and remain JUST under the thin veneer of the rules.

What I'm saying is, lets try to encourage people to RP the good stuff and stop pushing people to participate in a 3 hour RP over someone's shitty PK over someone calling them short ICly, when they had already done /acceptdeathand are enjoying a sandwich and a soda somewhere and quit to come back online later and do something similar again "BUT ITS ALL IC"

This.

Would be nice to just be allowed to start a niche business in a week.

I agree. A process to give those who want to run niche business that don't exist and for people who will be hyper active in their business should be given priority instead of just a 'pick a number' system.
