how and why are there so many rich people

Self-insert mall rodent types probably make up a large percentage of the most active, highest donating players who utilise donator-features like business advertising and furnishing. They mostly go about like it's Second Life too and they barely shoot anyone with their PF as an aggressor, more often defense by proxy.

You don't cut off your highest paying, least trouble-causing customer by shattering their illusion and forcing them to pay virtual taxes.

Besides, who gives a shit? The game's all about wish fulfilment.

This IRS crap that's coming, half the crap you need to do with property management, that fake FaceBrowser that has pay-for premium features that even the real Facebook doesn't have, it serves a fundamental purpose - blur the line between this game and real life so people get more invested and frustrated and play it more. More players, more time spent, more money.

In the same sense, mobile games are designed not to reward but to frustrate because it keeps a player coming back lol.

I don't give a shit about how people on this game choose to escape their reality. None of my fuckin business, who the hell am I, it'd be hypocritical to judge them.

Let em have the 330k Love Boat with the entire escort company hired out after being a garbage man for a week.

No skin off my ass and I suggest you heed the same advice.

The system is not the problem, the people here are. We just need more surveillance in that regard I'm tired of seeing so many mallrats. I would much rather see normal citizens, legal ones. You don't need a big car to be a civilian, that goes to a couple of cops for example, either they are on duty 24/7 or when they go off duty they hop in a 200.000$ car. (Not all and is just an example, goes just as well to GOV etc all other factions).

So the roleplay and the background story should be more sharply put into the spotlight and it must be kept to these rules.

Came here to say this. The 200k starter money is not that much, an apartment costs around 100k, a car another 50-75k. That leaves you with fifty grand total which lets be honest, isn't that much.

The problem is the players and a lack of quality control by staff. RPQM is fucking joke, anybody who has attempted to use the system can attest to that. When Morningwood and Del Perro apartments got accepted, I was in a faction that was quick to setup in the one low income apartment block where apartments were 75k and had a motel room interior. At first, things were pretty casual but about two weeks in someone in the ricer community discovered there was a shit load of cheap apartments and it drastically started to go down hill.

An entire friend group bought up a bunch of cheap apartments next to each other so they could all live and park their cars together, even going as far as to buy one of the apartments to turn into a clubhouse. Why spend 150k on an apartment that matches my character when me and my friends can just drop 75k and immediately remap a shithole into a luxury condo.

During the basically year that I was in the faction there, it became very apparent to me that while "mallrats" are not all genuinely bad. They are the player group who is the most guilty of bending portrayal to live out a fantasy. Some people are gonna read this and go "People are allowed to RP what they want, stop getting salty" but it's pretty basic. Your allowed to take a lot of creative liberties with your character, but this is a serious RP server. You shouldn't live in a 75k one room apartment while you own two 200k cars.

And it's the justification/downplaying of this behavior that makes it so much worse. The same people who were doing this shit were the same people who thought it was ok to drive down two flights of stairs in their massive truck because "Oh I didn't realize any people were around and I didn't wanna drive an extra 30 seconds to the entrance". These are the same people who would elect to use their own continuity over the servers so they can justify they're own actions. The amount of times my Armenian was told Morningwood was a "retirement community" when it's literally ICly Little Armenia was ridiculous.

Again, I'm not saying all mallrats are bad. But they are the culprits in this situation or at least a good chunk of them are. Why are people so rich? Because they don't actually RP their assets correctly. People find any ways to cut corners so they can get their ideal assets as soon as possible. That means grinding the mechanic or truck driver job for your first 50 hours, that means buying the cheaper property even if it doesn't make sense for your character because you know you can get it remapped into a luxury apartment for probably cheaper then just outright buying the luxury apartment that makes sense for you.

If we want an actual solution I propose the following:

  • Regulate not only players buying assets too expensive for their characters but also assets that are too cheap. If someone has five million in the bank they shouldn't be allowed to retain a cheap apartment as their home. This would force people to upgrade their assets to reflect their actual wealth instead of sitting on unrealistic piles of cash.
  • Regulate mapping on cheaper apartments for quality control and proper portrayal. If the base interior is one room, the mapping should be forced to reflect the same. This would force more people to purchase more expensive properties if they wish to have something extravagant mapped.
  • Implement taxes on bank accounts worth more then 2 million. This would limit the amount of actual multimillionaires on the server as it would make it basically impossibly to stack paycheck after paycheck. Millionaires would actually be characters who are bringing in a sizeable amount of money each month.
  • Increase wages at 24/7's, Liquor stores and tobacco shops while decreasing wages for truckers and mechanics. Lets be honest, the latter two jobs are abused while the first three are under served. This would shift money making away from the job grind mentality and force players who wanna just make money to actually provide the server with a tangible service.

Been working on this character since 2018 running various used car dealerships through out the server. Gotta remember some people have been here for YEARS brother.

Never ASSUME, because when you ASSUME, you make an ASS of U and ME.

Some people work really fkn hard in this game.

On that caveat I have a large sum of money in the bank but choose to drive a Alamo for RP's sake.

However If I ever did choose to buy a nicer car it would be completely acceptable since I have ICly worked for my money for years.

I see a lot of hate towards people who have what others want, and a lot of assumptions made.

Stop gate-keeping roleplay just because it doesn't fit into your little box of what YOU find to be acceptable. If someone wants to RP a ricer character let em, if they wanna drive a nice car, who cares? Why does it affect your character?

Hate to break it to you. But IRL there's lots of people who drive nice cars and have nice houses.... Seems to be the normal more than a outlier here in America.

Nothing much to spend money on.

- Houses are a thing yes but I wouldn't want to buy a second one because I want to leave that opportunity to someone else. So hoarding houses to rent out is not feasible.

- Unlimited supply of cars and every unique and exotic car has to be leased, not bought and owned. Higher end cars should just be thrown in (with limited supply) and have players buy/sell them on their own. Restricting the market doesn't help it.

- No business to buy. Seriously, everything has to be leased and you can't buy any property besides houses. Players should have the freedom to buy any property they want and make something out of it. If I want to buy a small garage/shed to store items in I literally can't.

- Items. We're limited by the items sold in 24/7 stores. We should have companies like Amazon ingame where you can order custom items (such as dashcams for example) and have them delivered to your door's mailbox or in person.

I don't want my char to own a supercar because I do not think that it fits and I already own a house so that leaves me to spend money on what? Luckily boats and planes are a thing but not many people like owning those.

Honestly leasing businesses like that is better in terms of roleplay, every server that made businesses a free market ended up turning them into highly sought after expensive properties that made it impossible to get near for players who aren't well established within the community with deep pockets, and some of those also advertised themselves as heavy rp servers, people will just hoard businesses and flip just like they're doing with houses.

Because people don't understand the concept of developing a character on a roleplay server, they'd much rather use it to fulfill their NFS Banham Canyon edition fantasies and predatory OOC lusts.

***they'd much rather use it to fulfill their Cop Fantasy - Literally logging in to do nothing but patrol around the city.
***they'd much rather use it to fulfill their Gangbanger Fantasy - making a new "block wipe" video a week and standing around AFK asking every person who walks/drive's by "AYO wHaT YoU bAnG?"

You get the idea.... Why do people keep singling out the car community?
