Music Radio Programming - Types of Music Radio Stations

Recommended Posts

Music radio is simply a radio station format where music is usually the primary broadcast content. In the past, internet radio hören control was typically the primary form of entertainment when radio was the primary form of entertainment. If there was music on a radio station, it was usually a live performance or segment of a talk show or other variety program. Today the vast majority of music radio listeners do not listen to live music; instead they tune into a specific music genre, like rock, classical, country, or jazz.

There are two main music radio formats used today. The first is "TuneAhead" (also known as CDush) which is similar to a conventional music radio station, with one major difference - instead of using a rotating selection of songs as on a conventional radio format, music radio shows use a subscription based system. For example, listeners can purchase a subscription in order to be able to hear a certain song. Once a listener has purchased his or her subscription, he or she can then tune in to any music radio show (such as C-SPAN or Sirius) on a particular day (or times) during that week and be able to hear that song (or songs) whenever he or she wants to) without having to worry about missing a scheduled show due to time constraints.

The second music radio station format is "Disc jockey Show," which is somewhat like the aforementioned" TuneAhead" program. In this case, instead of a subscription being required, listeners can purchase a CD key for a period of time that will allow them to hear a certain song as many times as they would like. Unlike" TuneAhead" or "C-SPAN", which allows music radio programming to rotate through various playlists based on what listeners are interested in, "Disc jockeys" program music only for a specific song. In this case, there is no possibility for cross-radio promotion for sponsors.
