Amendment to Rule 17 in regards to sexual advertisements

Underage people are exposed to pornographic ads, in the real world, on the daily. Maybe, escort ads should be more discrete with their services, though.

Yes, our world is heavily sexualized. I can't go on Instagram without seeing porn, go on YouTube without seeing an innuendo video, it's just how our society is, but I'd like for GTA:W to try and limit on that because not only do under-aged people feel uncomfortable seeing those ads, so do a lot of people of age.

We're playing an M rated game. I don't see why M rated advertisements are a problem.

Because people that are my age, and younger than me role play on this server. I'd go and estimate 40-60% of this community is under-aged, or role played at a young age either on MTA, GMod or SAMP. You're never going to combat against that unless if the server becomes 18+ which Nervous has explicitly stated he will not do.

Out of curiosity, if I opened a stripclub using /bad and advertised "NUDE GIRLS" should that also be censored or sorted to a NSFW section?

No one should be made to feel uncomfortable by an RP server but we can't ignore that this server is hosted on a M-rated game where extreme violence and grueling drug abuse occures on the daily. Los Santos as a city has some questionable morals, so I'm not really sure why the line is being drawn at sexual advertising.

Maybe allow for a NSFW section, but don't remove these advertisements entirely.

Might be ironic coming from us but, I agree. If they're not banned completely, an NSFW section should definently be added. I don't like seeing "Stripclub hot girls XXX" in the bottom of my screen, especially with the new ad system.

Also i've never seen an NSFW ad IRL other than through streaming movies and shit, but even then you can use adblock and not see them, so I don't know where the narrative that they're unavoidable IRL is coming from? Even if they're unavoidable irl (which they aren't), they should be avoidable ingame to make people comfortable.

I run an adult store, and I always make sure to write up adverts that are more on the funnier side of things than outright advertising things, like "HOLEWRECKER XXL BAD DRAGON FOR SALE, GET THEM NOW".

One of our ads for example says: ❤️ Our prices will have you screaming for more. Well, not JUST our prices. - ❤️

It's coy, it's cheeky, but if you think it's out of the line, I'm definitely open to hear you out regarding how we should handle advertising our store.

I usually reference things from pop culture and give them a bit of an adult twist. I also wouldn't be opposed to be able to tick a 'NSFW AD' checkbox.

However, I totally agree in regards to the "looking for a job in the porn industry", "young, white, blonde escort for hire" adverts, those shouldn't pop up this often.

Edited the main post to reflect that. That is a good compromise to not entirely kill off your guys' role play, but not make it so that it's down mine and others' throats whenever we're on.

The issue is some ads are really fucking disgusting, see here for example (I'll put them in a spoiler):

Add a couple of new commands, /adnsfw for ads like that and /toggleadnsfw to turn them on and off, and everyone happy, but we all know how GTAW works and what is going to happen is that they are going to ban them entirely, law of least effort, to the easiest.

That too could also work, perhaps give it its own section like compared to QuickDate and Facebrowser.

Adding a few commands with /adnsfw and /toggleadnsfw would "sort" out this issue for sure if people do not wish to view it constantly, but there should be a note labeling these commands above ^ so that people are aware of them, even if they are new players so that they know that NSFW advertisements actually exist because if players don't know those commands or don't even know that /adnsfw exists then it could heavily impact Strip-clubs, Sex-Shops, Night-Clubs with Strippers in VIP and Pornographic companies which is not good for the server.

In my honest opinion you shouldn't be playing GTA V if you're not of age, or if little things like this "annoy" you. And I can tell you right now that a majority of people actually like this sort of role-play that comes from these advertisements, such as strip-clubs etc so they should be advertised quite well for people to go enjoy them. This is also a game, so these companies/businesses have to push out their advertisements somehow in a reasonable fashion if such things like this were to happen.

Also regarding " Perhaps give it it's own section like compared to QuickDate and Facebrowser. " I find QuickDates is a waste of time and resources. Facebrowser is based off of Facebook irl. Facebook was originally built for Dating and still is meant for that, QuickDates has no reason to actually exist since Facebrowser is meant to do the same thing. You post selfies of yourself, you post what you've done for today so people can like it. You make yourself look good, you reach out to girls or vice-versa and go on a date. Facebrowser and Quickdates is exactly the same except Quickdates sucks and shouldn't exist since everything is on Facebrowser and it's meant to be like that from a "facebook" point of view.

If I were to support this, then there would have to be a very good system to inform people of the new commands related to NSFW such as a little note/message whenever you do /ad " Wish to enable NSFW content? Do /adnsfw & or /toggleadnsfw to view Strip Club openings, Pornography information etc " - Just an example so players are aware.

This is just my opinion, Ads are meant to bring people together to role-play not to split them apart. In real life you don't get ads slapped in your face or on your "screen" You go read a news paper or  you visit websites on your phone or just straight on TV. You have to understand that there's limitations to this, which is very important. If all ads were placed on your phone ingame and not on the side of your screen, no one would read them and a majority of businesses would be dead and or have way less people then normal.  The over all point of me saying this is, not everyone can like everything and you have to understand that this could effect a majority of businesses over a simple toggle command. The new "ads" system failed for a reason.

Thanks for reading.

I wish to preface this by saying that I am under-aged. I've been role playing for the past 5 years and I've enjoyed every bit of it. It's definitely a hobby of mine and probably one of my favorite ones. Just because somebody is under-aged does not mean they should not be able to play and enjoy this game, or have to feel uncomfortable whilst playing it.

Do the dildos depicted in the base game discomfort you? What about the colorful dialog from Trevor and others?

My point is this: seems to me you've got all this backwards.

I'm not opposed to separating ads by NSFW tags, but let's be clear: venturing into an adult space doesn't mean the adults should be made to tone everything down for you. You've adopted the risk of discomfort by playing an M rated game and further venturing into an online community connected with it - and no matter how much server management may wish otherwise, GTAV is not a game for minors - period.

In my opinion, you really shouldn't be here to begin with. There are plenty of roleplaying spaces that don't involve mature subject matter by default.

The people who post these ads were very understanding, and so have I, therefore, we came to a civil compromise and they appear happy with it.

In regards to being under-aged and playing an M rated game, this is an age old argument that has occurred before you stepped foot on GTA:W, in fact, before GTA:W even existed. Many people are aware the GTA franchise is not for minors, but people will still play it anyway, as with any M rated game.

I am asking to not have sexual related advertisements forced down my throat, this is not me solely asking for that because I am a minor, as with the suggestion, there are several people who are of age who still find these advertisements disgusting and again do not want them to be forced down their throats.

Name me one heavy city role playing space that I should be referred to that would be of suit to my age range as you feel as "There are plenty of roleplaying spaces that don't involve mature subject matter by default."
