Bauer
I also play with ads off, and I'm not personally bothered by the ads, although they are cringy at best. However, not everyone is comfortable with those ads and simply forcing them onto players' screens isn't great. Not sure why people are so quick to be opposed to removing the ads. This isn't banning these kinds of things either. If you want to advertise that sort of thing you can do it on the forums or make contacts ICly, no need to place random ads, especially when the activity is literally illegal IC if money is exchanged. Ad agencies don't let people advertise illegal things through their businesses. Link to comment

Ad agencies don't let people advertise illegal things through their businesses. If we follow that logic, if they put announcements in the forum they will also be forced to see them. Out of 800 people only 20 read the forum, in addition, they have the option of not seeing ads with commands and adjusting the character limit in the new menu if they don't want to see them. And they're illegal, yes, take it IC and let the PD do their things. Edited June 21, 2021 by BigSmileLing Link to comment
jcat
People are opposed to it because it's people who are upset about something utterly trivial trying force everyone else to adapt to them, and using What About the Children as an attack vector to get their way is disingenuous and insulting. We have FB, we have new dating site, how about adding Noodle or something so people can get linked to Discord IC ad section with it? You can access FB from your IG phone easily. Link to comment
jcat
And they're not illegal. Oh wait, it's time for a jcat bulleted list! Ladies and gentlemen, silence please. I have killed many peasants practicing this trick: Escort services Sex shops Sex therapists Tantric tantrikas 18 year old girls looking for work Out-call massages Strippers are not illegal, and they would be allowed to advertise. Look at that bulleted list. Damn, I'm good. 1 Link to comment

I've said it already on the other thread: It doesn't need new rules (or ammendements) for this, only execution of the existing rules. Following the current rules for advertisements, single job seekers- which includes the mentioned strippers, escorts, tantric massage experts and so on- are prohibited from using /ad to seek direct contact with customers. It just happens anyway, because advertisement rules are not strictly enforced: I've seen maybe two or three people in six months activity receiving a kick for job-seeker ads, and at least one of them actually looked for a mechanic job (not that this mattered- all job seeker ads are by rule definition already not allowed). Conclusion, we have a rule that is not actually enforced. Naturally I get admins first deal with matters that interrupt people's rp more than an ad, let's say illegitimate shots, but regardless: Rule ammendements will not fix anything here as all these ads are technically already prohibited, and a rule change might encourage staff to take a little more action temporarily on a very specific matter, but is not going to touch the cause at its core. We already have rules restricting minors from ERP/entering businesses dedicated to it. Now do gang related child murders. Or depictions of criminal drug use by children. Or literally half of the base GTAV game. Like I mentioned elsewhere, underage players (including you) don't belong here - no matter how much they (or anyone else) wish they did. 1 Link to comment
hipsxn
just have stefan make an ad section where all the ads in question go to and you have to turn on the filter to see them. It happens but there is ways to combat it. Link to comment
