Your opinion about escorts/companions ads

LS is a gritty place and escorts will exist and advertise, just as they do in RL.  I agree in RL the ads aren't so much in your face, but they shouldn't be banned entirely.  Even if they were banned, people would find a way around it by just wording it less obviously.  "Young female looking to make money".  That would be even worse because it would lead to creepy calls.  At least both parties know what they're getting with the escort ads.

This is how it works in real life, a prostitute prefers to be at home working without giving half of the income to the pimp than to work in a corner with all the dangers that this entails and in addition to being subjected to the pimp and giving him a large part of her benefits , this is real life and this is how prostitution also works.

 

In addition, I have seen the pimp RP dozens of times and if I had a prostitute character I would not go to any of them, the RP I have seen is based on "offering protection" but the only thing they offer is to "collect half of your money for nothing", someone can beat up the girl and the pimp doesn't care, the pimp doesn't even look for clients for her, for that shit I'd rather be a freelance prostitute.

 

And I want to add something else, a person I know tried to do something related to that, something well worked with a faction and that person had to delete that character because another person who had the mental capacity of an amoeba decided to screw up the RP, she/he screwed up the RP of that person like the one from the faction they were in, since then all I've seen has been like what I've described above, pimps calling themselves pimps just to take half your money without doing anything.

This is true. And thats why if ads werent allowed, the pimp would actually need to rp efforts to get clients for the girls. Eithet by making a FB page, a forum IC website or using their IC connections to spread the word.

It’s turning into LS-RP and I don’t like it. Escort ads bring nothing of contribution to this server, in fact it probably gets rid of RP because instead of joining an escort service or prostitution ring you just throw ads up.

Nobody in their right mind is going to team up with a pimp to give him half the money without doing almost anything or rather, without making any RP.

LSRP had a rule against this bought in several years ago but made it so that people could still post those kinds of advertisements on the forums.

Too much players creating female alts to farm some money and then namechange. Pointless and without any correlation to IRL escorts advertises. It's getting to the point that it's being abused by players. To me it should be removed from IC advertise and leave it on the IC section on forums.

LSRP is a bad example as the sole reason the number of escort ads declined there was not any rule change but its general decline in population leading to a less in everything, also escort services (regardless how operated), and thus ads for them.

I'd advice to not compare (same as I back then adviced to rather set an own standard instead to orientate oneself on others).

Such stuff actually happens- obviously it's more discreet and less obvious (or, exceptions stating the rule, disguised), so it's not as easy to get into as that corner under the bridge.

And obviously doesn't on its own prevent the issues @BigSmileLinghighlighted, not every pimp actually has a purpose and use (off topic here but that's what many wannabe pimp players just ignore, regardless of how abusive a relationship is, if there was no mutual "benefit*" ( no matter if it's protection, providing work space, feeding her drugs or whatever else), the relationship will be broken off as it's a business relationship and just bad business if there's no benefit besides a guy collecting money for screenshots.

 

*Benefit in this context obviously doesn't mean it necessarily has to be actually benefitial for the character, just individually received as such, like safe drug access for an addict.

OOC restrictions on IC advertisements makes no sense at all and one of the problems in gtaw is that there are too many OOC rules to handle IC situations when they should be handled by IC ways.

 

But I get where you are coming from and I can understand it, I think that with the new interface for the ads a filtering system would be really cool. Like, when someone publish an add they have to use tags so then you can filter your feed of ads by said tags.
