These sorts of advertisement are already disallowed ingame as per server rules, either to be taken to the forums or disallowed completely. Prior to the advertisement update, a good amount of such ads have also been punished - things like sexual offers / prostitution which falls under the rule of illegal advertisements and any sort of "looking for" under requests.

Unfortunately, ever since the advertisement update released, I feel as if moderation is missed out completely. Going through general advertisements, one quarter would all be falling under the advertisement rules with the Escorts and ERP offers making the biggest part of it. It really comes down to more moderation from the admin team, not only reactively on reports - that are rarely done over "petty" things such as advertisements to begin with.

Although an addition would help specifically clarifying that any sexual / romantic services are to be taken to the forums as part of a "personal" advertisement area...or let it play out in-character considering most ends in ERP which falls under prostitution and andering/pimping depending on what role that character takes in the entire process. So publicly advertising for such is a free invitation to get put in jail if police is pushed to take severe actions by politics or the public. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well these are basically prostitutes so I don't get it why they are advertising themselves like this. Go to a corner and hustle, I don't know how the prostitute/pimp scene is on this server but I'm pretty sure this ain't helping create that RP environment. I'm yet to see this, driving around.

100 percent in support of banning these kinds of ads as they do not promote roleplay.

This is how some women work, not all, the other part of the women work in apartments or houses where they themselves are the owners of the same or work with other girls in a joint rental, without having to work the corner with the risk that this entails.

I have seen players do that on the corner and they have explained to me that the risk is not worth it, among which there are some PD arresting, fining or scaring customers, some people who want to rob or scam you, or worse things, well, no, it's not worth it, it's easier and safer to have your own apartment for this.

Regarding the advertisements, they don't bother me personally, we are in a game that is +18 where there are murders, drugs, alcohol, the /ad has never been stipulated if it's a newspaper or an online website, so it's difficult to say If it's good or bad, and the problem is that, as the Staff has never said how the /ad works the people put their ads there thinking that it is a website with varied ads.

Although if many users are bothered, perhaps a new command could be made for this type of ads where those who don't want to read them do not read them, as well as allowing the "I'm looking for work" ads, that are totally valid, in real life I read ads of that kind in abundance.

That's a good point. It should be defined trough what media do these advertisements go. I understand that there's more way to prostitution then corner hustling but sitting in an apartment doing /ad basically advertising illicit things should not be allowed. I'm sure there are more creative ways to manage the prostitution roleplay, right?

With all honesty, that is the issue, prior the new adverts system update you would've seen admin action taken against those players.

In real life, the way they advertise is either on the internet, or by spreading flyers offering discreet massage or escort. Fact is, it does not come onto main media (Radio, TV, News Papers) as you'd think compared to the internet where it's easy as heck to find such ads. So yes, since the ads system is serving us as Radio, TV, News Papers and other forms of media.. I agree, should not be allowed. Want to promote yourself as an escort? There's Facebrowser and the internet (IC forums section).

I'd like to reiterate, though, that we shouldn't jump immediately to OOC solutions when IC ones are sitting right in front of us. You can't outright ban escort companies - but there are methods of regulation still available to us that would tamp down on illicit activity.

They just have to seize the opportunity.

I'd say the issue is that the adverts are sugar coated and as per Rule 19, such adverts should be more explicit about the fact it's an 18+ type of advert. /ad is the easy way of promoting yourself, while there are other media options we have for someone to use such as Facebrowser and the IC forums here for classifieds. Not to mention it's a lazy way of doing it.

Fully agree, it's an IC issue where somewhat of an OOC system is being abused. Action should be taken against people who advertise illicit things.
