What are your thoughts on the servers casino/gambling roleplay?

The only time I've experienced any kind of gambling role-play was when I would hold friendly poker games with friends of my character. We'd all enter with a relatively low amount of money with small blinds being established, to put an actual focus on the role-play surrounding the game, as well as allow for small-talk to be held. At casinos around the server, the poker table is typically just 10 guys/girls sitting around a table silently, with the occasional /b message of "table bugged?" "hurry, its ur turn" and things of the like.

Speaking as someone whose main IC profession has been dealing blackjack for the last few months, the state of gambling "roleplay" is, for the most part, objectively terrible. 10% of people will RP, maybe less than that, the remaining 90% are either mutes that say nothing at all at any point throughout the game, or near-mutes who will say, at most, hello, goodbye, bad hand, good hand, and thank you. It's boring for all dealers - we hit one button on the screen for maybe an hour and a half and, regardless of our attempts to RP (whether this be calling the cards or attempting to make conversation), we are either ignored or provided minimal responses by that 90%.

I personally don't see why RPing at casinos isn't mandated like all other RP. To me, a couple of problems stand out here; player mentality is one, but the minigame itself, in my opinion, is the more glaring issue. I would give dealers more control: allow the dealer to press "hit", "stand", "double", force the players to at least have to type to play - this would slow down the game a lot, yes, but this is a roleplay server and implementation of minigames like this will only serve to enable players with the money-over-everything, throwaway character type mentalities.

Barely any roleplay really. Blackjack script came and killed Roulette which at least had some roleplay to it. Now it's just casino owners opening tables that require minimal roleplay like Blackjack and Poker out of laziness and people come and click cards to gamble and then go home.

Going to be honest just spent 2-3 days at an IRL Casino/Resort last week for an event its not that much different. Was like only my second time at a Casino and I notice people seem like drones. Just sitting infront of the slots or poker table barely any emotion almost autonomous. People don't go to Casino for the riveting company.

Gambling roleplay should be revamping and improving now with the introduction of the gambling laws and code.

This seems like the best call here. Hopefully it works out. Out of curiosity, does the state govt have any licensing agency or gambling enforcement bureau/unit/agency (?) to enforce those laws or does that fall on SD and PD?

As already mentioned in the thread, casino roleplay is mostly little to no roleplay money farming from my experience. I've tried to get into it a few times, but each time I had to conclude it wasn't anything I'd get any decent roleplay out of.

It's a shame really, as roleplaying around a poker table can be tons of fun, and roleplaying the consequences of losing can be equally as fun as winning.
