Journalism/broadcasting RP; LSNN needs your help

I definitely agree with using FaceBrowser more often. As someone who has taken a variety of journalism classes throughout university I noticed that social media is certainly the #1 way to engage an audience. A lot of journalists are on the streets regularly and report live news through their Twitter feed for example, so it would be interesting to see some LSNN journalists reporting live news coverage through FaceBrowser. I also agree with the use of real VoiceOver reporting on a radio station. If requiring someone to record audio logs is an issue I'd be more than happy to oblige on an OOC level given that I'm a male with a North American accent.

 

On an unrelated note, I find generic crime reporting to be rather bland given the nature of the server, the details are pretty generic as you'd expect. Like someone mentioned above, a lot of work has to be put in to get specific details, and it usually involves "gang member A shot gang member B, suspect was arrested/or is still on the run". In the real world, shootings may be common place in certain cities or neighbourhoods, but are still considered rare to occur in other areas and have a real impact if you were to hear about a shooting/stabbing occurring in your neighbourhood or nearby. With the server as it is, it really doesn't phase most people whether the shooting occurred in Davis or in Vinewood. Speaking strictly in my opinion, I'd much rather read news pertaining to unique businesses that have opened up around the city, interviews with the owner/manager, and things of the like. This would create a sense of pride for those who go against the grain of opening up yet another casino or nightclub, and provide exposure to those with unique ideas.

 

Lastly, I would try and fit in with more of a BuzzFeed/Vice News type of organization, rather than a C-Span/BBC/New York Times type of news agency. While I know LSNN has always strived to be a more sophisticated news outlet, the key demographic of the server doesn't really fit the type of up-tight news reporting that I personally believe LSNN covers. Try finding a journalist who wishes to start a lifestyle section of the paper, someone who is willing to go to different restaurants across the city and compile a list of "Top 10 Must Try Restaurants in Los Santos" type of page. Perhaps send journalists to public events that happen throughout the city, a notable example being World Food Day, where a member of LSNN did show up, however after reading the article it was incredibly short and not very informative. Again, I'm not trying to disrespect the faction in any sort of way, this is simply my opinion and I have nothing but respect for individuals willing to portray a realistic news organization.

i played on a samp server years ago where something wild happened every day and the news would always be on scene to interview somebody (civilians or law enforcement), it was exciting and engaging to a lot of people, usually if someone they knew was being interviewed

 

as i've come back to this server i noticed not much "newsworthy" happens in the public eye (which can be good/bad depending on what you play for) and i reckon you'd be hard pressed to find anything worth reporting unless you were willing to completely fabricate events which just isn't interesting or engaging as publicly announcing news that actually occurred in the server

 

i'd personally apply just to have a goal when coming in game, to seek out interesting individuals and set up broadcast interviews for the server to feel more connected
